Yom Teruah 2010

Joseph F. Dumond

Isa 6:9-12 And He said, Go, and tell this people, You hear indeed, but do not understand; and seeing you see, but do not know. Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their hearts, and turn back, and be healed. Then I said, Lord, how long? And He answered, Until the cities are wasted without inhabitant, and the houses without man, and the land laid waste, a desolation, and until Jehovah has moved men far away, and the desolation in the midst of the land is great.

Shabbat Shalom Family,

The New Moon was not seen on Thursday Evening from Israel; not from Eliat where Nehmiah went as far south as he could to look for it and not from the rest of the country where the cloud cover prevented any sighting. But it has been reported to me that it was seen in Australia, South Africa, Florida, Chile and Bolivia. So what do we do?

Well today we have the report from Israel that on Sept 10, in the evening the Moon was sighted. Here is the report.

Moadim Le-Simchah!
Happy Appointed Times!

Jerusalem, Israel

Here is Ontario Canada, I drove to the hill at a local gravel pit and I watched the sun set at 7:35 and then I saw the crescent moon at 7:36 PM. I turned on the CD player and blasted out Jerusalem Arise by Paul Wilbur. It is His songs on my web site from this CD and Shalom Jerusalem.

I felt like a teenager with the radio so loud. I then blasted on the shofar and I noticed that the shofar had been anointed with hyssop oil previously. Each time I blew on it the air around me smelled awesome. I blew during the songs and I blew during my prayers. I watched the moon set at 8:17 with Venus shining brightly to the left of it along with Mars, and at the very tip of the upper horn of the moon was the star named Spica. Spica is Latin for “an ear of corn”. This same star in Hebrew is called Tsemach and in Arabic is call Al Zimach and both mean “The Branch”

We read in Jeremiah 23: 5 “See, the days are coming,” declares ????, “when I shall raise for Dawid? a Branch1 of righteousness, and a Sovereign shall reign and act wisely, and shall do right-ruling and righteousness in the earth. Footnote: 1Or sprout. 6 “In His days Yehud?ah shall be saved, and Yisra’?l dwell safely. And this is His Name whereby He shall be called: ‘???? our Righteousness.’

Zechariah 3: 8 ‘Now listen, Yehoshua the high priest, you and your companions who sit before you, for they are men of symbol. For look, I am bringing forth My Servant – the Branch1. Footnote: 1Or Sprout. See Isa. 4:2, Isa. 11:1, Jer. 23:5, Jer. 33:15, Zech. 6:12.

Isaiah 4: 2 In that day the Branch of ???? shall be splendid and esteemed. And the fruit of the earth shall be excellent and comely for the escaped ones1 of Yisra’?l.

As the moon set the song ‘These Are the Days of Elijah’ began to play and I could no longer contain my feet. I began to dance there in the gravel pit blowing on the shofar, just me and my El, singing as loud as I could.

I received a lot of emails last night and then my computer froze up and I could not access it until this morning.

Some of them said I was causing division amongst the brethren and that I was going to go to hell for this unless I repented and told you all to follow the teachings of the Hebrew Calendar. In other words the Rabbinic teachings. Other emails threatened me for speaking out. Others just curse and these are from those who think or call themselves followers of the Messiah by whatever name they use.

So let me address these email all right here.

Hebrew 12: 12 For the Word of Elohim is living, and working, and sharper than any two-edged sword, cutting through even to the dividing of being and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart

Mathew 10: 33 “But whoever shall deny Me before men, him I shall also deny before My Father who is in the heavens. 34 “Do not think that I have come to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword,1 Footnote: 1In Lk. 12:51 the word “division” is used, while “sword” has the same meaning here. 35 for I have come to bring division, a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law – 36 and a man’s enemies are those of his own household.1 Footnote: 1Lk. 12:53, Mic. 7:6. 37 “He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me, and he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me.1 Footnote: 1See 19:29, Lk. 14:26. 38 “And he who does not take up his staff and follow after Me is not worthy of Me.

Yeshua is bringing a sword to divide the sheep who follow Him from the goats who follow traditional teachings and Satan having never investigated the truth to see what it says. So I am very comfortable when I use the scriptures in the correct teachings and it causes division. The division is from the tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil and back to the Tree of Life.

Addressing the issue of unity let me show you that those who have written are not in unity with Torah or The Talmud.

Here is quote from the Mishnah, notice it does not use the postponement rules so that This feast day does not land on a Sabbath.

Rosh HaShana 29b MISHNAH. IF THE FESTIVE DAY OF NEW YEAR FELL ON A SHABBAT, THEY USED TO BLOW THE SHOFAR IN THE TEMPLE BUT NOT IN THE COUNTRY: AFTER THE DESTRUCTION OF THE TEMPLE, RABBAN JOHANAN BEN ZACCAI ORDAINED THAT IT SHOULD BE BLOWN [ON SHABBAT] IN EVERY PLACE WHERE THERE WAS A BETH DIN. R. ELIEZER SAID: RABBAN JOHANAN BEN ZACCAI LAID DOWN THIS RULE FOR JABNEH ONLY. THEY SAID TO HIM: IT APPLIES EQUALLY TO JABNEH AND TO ANY PLACE WHERE THERE IS A BETH DIN. JERUSALEM HAD THIS FURTHER SUPERIORITY OVER JABNEH, THAT IN EVERY CITY FROM WHICH IT COULD BE SEEN OR HEARD AND WHICH WAS NEAR AND FROM WHICH IT WAS ACCESSIBLE THEY USED TO BLOW [ON SHABBAT], WHEREAS IN JABNEH THEY USED TO BLOW IN THE BETH DIN ONLY.

The following excerpt is from the Jewish Encyclopedia:

“Originally, the New Moon was not fixed by astronomical calculations, but was solemnly proclaimed after witnesses had testified to the reappearance of the crescent of the moon. On the 30th of each month, the members of the High Court (Bet Din Gadol – The Sanhedrin) assembled in a courtyard in Jerusalem, named Beit Ya’azek, where they waited to receive the testimony of two reliable witnesses; they then sanctified the New Moon. If the moon’s crescent was not seen on the 30th day, the New Moon was automatically celebrated on the next day.”

According to the Talmud the witnesses were entertained lavishly to induce witnesses to come forward. They were then tested to ascertain that they were true witnesses [2]:

Rosh HaShana 23b: MISHNAH. THERE WAS A LARGE COURT IN JERUSALEM CALLED BETH YA’AZEK. THERE ALL THE WITNESSES USED TO ASSEMBLE AND THE BETH DIN USED TO EXAMINE THEM. THEY USED TO ENTERTAIN THEM LAVISHLY THERE [3] SO THAT THEY SHOULD HAVE AN INDUCEMENT [4] TO COME. ORIGINALLY THEY USED NOT TO LEAVE THE PLACE THE WHOLE DAY, [5] BUT RABBAN GAMALIEL THE ELDER INTRODUCED A RULE THAT THEY COULD GO TWO THOUSAND CUBITS FROM IT IN ANY DIRECTION. THESE WERE NOT THE ONLY ONES [TO WHOM THIS CONCESSION WAS MADE]. A MIDWIFE WHO HAS COME [FROM A DISTANCE] TO HELP IN CHILDBIRTH OR ONE WHO COMES TO RESCUE FROM A FIRE OR FROM BANDITS OR FROM A RIVER IN FLOOD OR FROM A BUILDING THAT HAS FALLEN IN — ALL THESE ARE ON THE SAME FOOTING AS THE RESIDENTS OF THE TOWN, AND MAY GO TWO THOUSAND CUBITS [ON SHABBAT] IN ANY DIRECTION.

MISHNAH. HOW DO THEY TEST THE WITNESSES? THE PAIR WHO ARRIVE FIRST ARE TESTED FIRST. THE SENIOR OF THEM IS BROUGHT IN AND THEY SAY TO HIM, TELL US HOW YOU SAW THE MOON — IN FRONT OF THE SUN OR BEHIND THE SUN? [11] TO THE NORTH OF IT OR THE SOUTH? HOW BIG WAS IT, AND IN WHICH DIRECTION WAS IT INCLINED? [12] AND HOW BROAD WAS IT? IF HE SAYS [HE SAW IT] IN FRONT OF THE SUN, HIS EVIDENCE IS REJECTED. [13] AFTER THAT THEY WOULD BRING IN THE SECOND AND TEST HIM. IF THEIR ACCOUNTS TALLIED, THEIR EVIDENCE WAS ACCEPTED, AND THE OTHER PAIRS WERE ONLY QUESTIONED BRIEFLY, [14] NOT BECAUSE THEY WERE REQUIRED AT ALL, BUT SO THAT THEY SHOULD NOT BE DISAPPOINTED, [AND] SO THAT THEY SHOULD NOT BE DISSUADED FROM COMING. [15]

GEMARA. ‘IN FRONT OF THE SUN’ is surely the same as ‘TO THE NORTH OF IT’, and ‘BEHIND THE SUN’ is surely the same as TO THE SOUTH OF IT’? [16]

Yom Teruah is always celebrated for two days, even in Israel. These two days are celebrated as though it is just one long day of forty-nine hours. (from candle lighting time, eighteen minutes before sundown; to havdalah time, forty-two minutes after sundown.)

These days of Yom Teruah are called “yoma arichta” (one long day) to indicate that the sanctity of both is not a doubtful sanctity, but a definite one. See also KNOWDAY

The reason that we celebrate for two days is because if we waited to start our celebration until after the new moon had been sanctified, we would have missed half the celebration because the new moon can only be sanctified during daylight hours. The new moon is also very difficult to see on the first day because it can be seen only about sunset, close to the sun, when the sun is traveling north. So, looking for a very slim faint crescent moon, which is very close to the sun, is a very difficult thing to do.

This two day celebration makes me think of:

Matityahu (Matthew) 24:29-39 “Immediately after the distress of those days ‘the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.’ “At that time the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and all the nations of the earth will mourn. They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky, with power and great glory. And he will send his angels with a loud shofar call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other. “Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its twigs get tender and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near. Even so, when you see all these things, you know that it is near, right at the door. I tell you the truth, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away. “No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; And they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.

Matityahu (Matthew) 25:13 “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour.

Marqos (Mark) 13:28-37 “Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its twigs get tender and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near. Even so, when you see these things happening, you know that it is near, right at the door. I tell you the truth, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away. “No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Be on guard! Be alert! You do not know when that time will come. It’s like a man going away: He leaves his house and puts his servants in charge, each with his assigned task, and tells the one at the door to keep watch. “Therefore keep watch because you do not know when the owner of the house will come back–whether in the evening, or at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or at dawn. If he comes suddenly, do not let him find you sleeping. What I say to you, I say to everyone: ‘Watch!'”

Revelation 16:15 “Behold, I come like a thief! Blessed is he who stays awake and keeps his clothes with him, so that he may not go naked and be shamefully exposed.”

I Thessalonians 5:1-11 Now, brothers, about times and dates we do not need to write to you, For you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. While people are saying, “Peace and safety,” destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape. But you, brothers, are not in darkness so that this day should surprise you like a thief. You are all sons of the light and sons of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness. So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be alert and self-controlled. For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk, get drunk at night. But since we belong to the day, let us be self-controlled, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet. For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Yeshua Mashiach. He died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with him. Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.

The command seems to be that we know the season, but not the day or the hour. Yom Teruah is the ONLY moed (appointment) that we do not know the day or the hour in which to keep it. Therefore, we have to be on the alert and watch for it. The Rabbinic suggestion that we not sleep on Yom Teruah seems to be justified from these verses. According to the Mishna, Rosh Chodesh must be announced during daylight hours. [21]

Abraham, in the Book of Jubilees, also stayed awake and watched:

Jubilees, Chapter 12:15… And Terah went forth from Ur of the Chaldees, he and his sons, to go into the land of Lebanon and into the land of Canaan, and he dwelt in the land of Haran, and Abram dwelt with 16 Terah his father in Haran two weeks of years. And in the sixth week, in the fifth year thereof, [1951 A.M.] Abram sat up throughout the night on the new moon of the seventh month to observe the stars from the evening to the morning, in order to see what would be the character of the year with regard 17 to the rains, and he was alone as he sat and observed. And a word came into his heart and he said: All the signs of the stars, and the signs of the moon and of the sun are all in the hand of the Lord. Why do I search (them) out?

Now I also want to point out to you one of the postponement rules. Taken from THE GLORY OF YAHWEH AND THE GLORY OF KINGS

Dehioth: The Rules of Postponements
THE SECOND RULE:

If the New Moon (molad) of Tishri (the 7th month) occurs at noon or later, New Moon (Rosh Hodesh) is declared to be the following day. Thus, if the molad (new moon) is Monday at noon or later, Tuesday is declared to be Rosh Hodesh (New Moon). The reason is that if the molad (new moon) is before noon, it is certain that the new crescent will be visible in some part of the world before sunset of the same day. If however, the new moon (molad) occurs after midday, the new crescent will not be visible before sunset of the same day. If the following day is Sunday, Wednesday, or Friday on which the first day of Tishri may not occur, it is further postponed to the next following day, so that the first of Tishri is the third day counting from, and including, the day of the molad (new moon).

Take special notice of the reason for rule number 2, The Molad is the conjunction; The reason is that if the molad (new moon) is before noon, it is certain that the new crescent will be visible in some part of the world before sunset of the same day. If however, the new moon (molad) occurs after midday, the new crescent will not be visible before sunset of the same day.

The whole reason for this rule was so that the Feast of Yom Teruah would not be started in some other part of the world before the moon was seen in Jerusalem. Yes Seen by the visible eye just as we do today and are being accused of causing division.

And it for this reason that even though the moon this year was seen from other parts of the world for unity we wait for the moon to be declared in ISrael, from the Temple.

Now let me show you one more item. This comes from the Temple Mount and you can read it at http://sites.google.com/site/moonsoc/Home

The leading paragraph states the following; For over a thousand years, the Hebrew calendar has been fixed by calculation. Today, the Hebrew calendar does not match that fixed by observing the Moon. Even thought the gap between the two calendars continues to increase, we do not have the authority to alter the calendar until a new Sanhedrin (religious high court) is re-established and is widely recognized. While sanctification of the month according to observation is not practiced today it is important to carry out calculations and practice observing the New Moon in order to be ready for when the Sanhedrin is reestablished. Likewise, there is increasing involvement in the Temple, red heifer, etc. Of course, we are not intending to change the current calendar (this is a task for an authorized Sanhedrin) but just to increase involvement in and embellish the Torah.

They are practicing the sighting of the moon in order to get ready for the time when it will be changed back to the Sighted Moon Method and no longer based on the calculated conjunctured method. They admit it is wrong and they also admit they will not change this wrong method but will continue to go the wrong way.

Yet we are told over and over in scriptures that we see we have sinned we are to turn from sin and repent and go the right way.
So we here at Sightedmoon.com will continue to tell people to sight the moon and to use it to begin their months to count out the Holy Days as History and Scriptures teach us. As does the Talmud and Mishnah. Those who are telling others not to do this are the very ones who are causing division in the body of Yeshua. Yet they twist it around to say that we are so they can continue to walk in sin. How ironic?

Here are some of the other things happening this Sept 11, 2010.

There has not been any Nuclear attacks on Damascus as some have said would happen. But also on this day are the following News stories.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Religious tensions are overshadowing the anniversary of the September 11 attacks on the United States where President Barack Obama urged a Christian preacher to abandon a plan to burn copies of the Koran.
On Friday, Obama appealed to Americans to respect the “inalienable” right of religious freedom and said he hoped the preacher would abandon his plan to burn the Muslim holy book, saying it could deeply hurt the United States abroad.

Thousands of Afghans demonstrated in the northeast of the country for a second day on Saturday.
“This is a way of endangering our troops, our sons and daughters … you don’t play games with that,” Obama told a Washington news conference in which he included an appeal for religious tolerance.

Pastor Terry Jones, of the obscure Dove World Outreach Center in Gainesville, Florida, has backed off a threat to burn the Koran on the anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks in which nearly 3,000 people died.

Former heads of the 9/11 Commission that studied the 2001 attacks presented a 43-page report they called a wake-up call about the radicalization of Muslims in the United States and the changing strategy of al Qaeda and its allies.

“The threat that the U.S. is facing is different than it was nine years ago,” said the report, released by the Washington-based Bipartisan Policy Center.

“The U.S. is arguably now little different from Europe in terms of having a domestic terrorist problem involving immigrant and indigenous Muslims as well as converts to Islam.”

U.S. officials have warned that cases such as the threat to burn the Koran could lead to a recruiting bonanza for al Qaeda.
JOHANNESBURG (AFP) – A Johannesburg court has blocked a South African businessman from burning Bibles on Saturday in response to a Florida pastor’s threat to burn the Koran, a local newspaper said.

The Johannesburg High Court issued an urgent interdict late Friday blocking Mohammed Vawda from holding a “Burn the Bible Day”, reported the Saturday Star.

“Pastor Jones’ actions were inciteful,” Vawda, 38, told the newspaper.

“He angered me and outraged me. My actions were aimed against him. I wanted to stop him somehow. He didn’t listen to his own president.”

On Sept 10, Eid was being celebrated across the world marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan – the Islamic period of fasting and spiritual reflection.

A Letter to the editor of the Miami Herald read;
Friday was the Eid, the end of Ramadan fasting, and every year The Miami Herald published an Eid greeting for its Muslim readers. Despite a press release requesting the same, it did not happen. Of all the years, this could have been the most important year because of all the Islamophobic activities.

I am deeply disturbed by this slight. While you have done a wonderful job throughout Ramadan and year-round to balance and help us with media awareness, this absence will be noticed by your Muslim patrons, especially in light of the ugly Quran-burning and Park 51 Plaza controversies.

Today Sept 11, 2010 is the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on the Twin Towers in New York in which 3000 people were killed by Muslim Fanatics. This remembrance in light of the Quran burning threat and the Mosque controversy at ground zero is being forgotten, or at least put on the back burner.

But more importantly as we Celebrate The Feast of Blowing of Trumpets, Yom Teruah, The Feast of Trumpets on Sept 11, 2010, many have forgotten the importance of this date, the day when Yeshua was born Sept 11, 3 BC.

The second reason is that the Islamic world needs to prove to us that if one of their religious symbols are burnt or desecrated that they as a “religion of peace” need to show to us that this is the case i.e. that words of condemnation, restraint as well as prayers for peace, instead of riots, violence and killing when someone from another faith insults Islam; needs to be witnessed from the West. This will prove to us that tolerance in Islam exists. The West has witnessed much provocation, desecrating of churches, burning of bibles, persecution of Christians in the Muslim world yet we do not witness reciprocal violence form mobs or riots in our Western countries against Muslims. The current policies and political correctness of our government long term will actually exasperate violence against Muslims when today we are unwilling to deal with the true intention of fundamentalist Muslims.

The Imam who is building the ground zero mosque is unwilling to compromise on his positions yet the USA non Muslim community are expected to compromise for his faith. On CNN Imam suggests that violence might occur if the mosque is moved. While he did not threaten to use violence he suggested that many of his coreligionists might do so if he would compromise. The imam is brilliant at using language that instills fear but at the same time obfuscates him from blame for causing that fear. Imam Rauf is a slippery snake, who we have already have exposed as a supporter of terror in his writings in Arabic in the Middle East media. He will never compromise if you understand Islamic law like we do. The Imam cannot move the mosque, as once land is purchased for a mosque, it can never be sold or disposed of; it belongs to the Umma forever. The only way to stop the mosque is through local legislation or violence (we condemn violence).

The following comes from August 1 2009. Does this sound familiar for this religion of peace?

Days of rioting between Christians and Muslims in eastern Pakistan following allegations that a Qur’an was defiled escalated Saturday, leaving six Christians dead, including a child, authorities said.

Members of a banned Muslim organization began torching Christian homes in the Punjabi city of Gojra on Thursday after accusing Christians of desecrating pages from Islam’s holy book, Federal Minister for Minorities Shahbaz Bhatti said.

Although many claim Islam to be a religion of peace, it is almost always Islam that is at the core of the violence in much of the headline. Bibles are burned and Christians killed burned and beheaded at the hands of those adherents of the Muslim faith. Although many say the Pastor has the right to burn the Quran they also say it will insight violence from the religion of peace.

Many Christians are becoming more militant in their language over this issue. And so are some of you. But most of them have a great fear of Islam. This goes back to Lev 26 and the first curse of Terror. Most people are terrorized and fearfull of Islam.

The Torah and the Scriptures shows you that at the end of this age a king will arise and will change times and law. He will worship a god his fathers never knew. This god is the god of the muslim world and the laws that will be changed will be all those except Sharia law. It is coming. And Revelations tells you that many will be beheaded for their faith. There is one religion that beheads those who do not bow down to it.

The Sabbatical and Jubilee years shows me that at the end of this current 7 year Sabbatical cycle we will see more brethren being martyred for their faith. In the next 7 year Sabbatical cycle war will come in which the Muslim people will break the yoke of Jacob as Isaac Prophesied and then they will rule the earth for a short time.

So knowing this what do you do? Is burning the Quran going to change Prophecy? No it is not! You had better get closer to Yahovah and be on the same page with Him if you want to have any hope of surviving what is coming.
