This evening of Sept 30 October 1st is the 30 day since the moon was last seen at the beginning of the 6th month. With no moon sighted in Jerusalem, this month can only be 30 days long there for the next day, the evening of October 1st and Day of October 2nd.

Sixth Biblical Month

On Monday September 1, 2008 the new moon was sighted from Israel. The
moon was sighted from Ashdod by Magdi Shamuel and Eli Shamuel at 19:24.

On the evening of September 1 and the day of September 2 was the first day of the sixth month. Each month is 29 or 30 days in length. Because the month is only 29 or 30 days all we have to do is add 29 to September 1-2 to arrive at the date the seventh month is to start.

This would be the evening of September 30 and the day of October 1st.

The moon had a possibility of being seen on this date and as reported last month was highly unlikely. It has NOT been seen. There for the month is automatically 30 days long.

New Moon Not Sighted

On Tuesday September 30, 2008 the new moon was not sighted by observers from Israel. With the time between sunset and moonset only
20 minutes this was exactly as expected. As a result, Yom Teruah will begin Wednesday night, Oct 1, which is the 31st day from the previous sighting. This is because a lunar month can only be 29 or 30 days long and the non-sighting tonight made the Sixth biblical month 30 days.

It is because of this not knowing when the moon will be seen that we are sure of the methodology for determining the beginning of the month. It is not a conjunctured moon as used by those who use the Hebrew calendar. It is a sighted moon. It is because no man can know the day or the hour that the moon will be seen, and precisely because of this uncertain event, that no man can know when the day or the hour the Messiah will return. Again you can read the two articles The return of Yahshua  and Conjunction or Sighted Which?

By waiting and looking for the moon as we do, it is never possible to know the day or the hour in advance, until we actually look for it and see it. This year was another example of this prophesy by Yahshua.

This method of determining the new moon is also being practiced by the Sanhedrin in accordance with the Talmud and Mishna.

It takes a special person to hold the weight of something this important on his shoulders. I cannot remember if I told you this or not….

Read this:
Da:7:10: A fiery stream issued and came forth from before him: thousand thousands ministered unto him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him: the judgment was set, and the books were opened.

What books are opened? and who are the 10,000 x 10,000?

Everyone that I have asked has stated that this is the judgment of the righteous. Let’s look at some numbers:

There are 6.5 billion living on the earth. There are 6 billion people since Adam who has lived and died. Add them together and that is 12.5 billion people ever created.

When I ask people what percentage of the people will make into the kingdom of heaven I get 10 – 20%. Well, if we take 10% that would be 1.25 billion. That is alot! And that would mean that half of them would be alive right now, walking around… 625 million.

However, Daniel 7:10 says that 10,000 x 10,000 = 100 million. 100 million is less than 1% of 12.5 billion. So, if our understanding is correct, less than 1% will make it into the kingdom of heaven. Can you believe it? Less than 1%! And if I think I am one of them, I am dreaming. None the less, I am shooting to be one of those listed in the 1%.

And that would mean that you are fishing and hunting for less than 1%. That means that 99% are scoffers.

Stand strong and rejoice for the 1%. That is all you get. And you will not meet all of them. So, if you somehow manage to meet 10% of the 1%, I would be surprised! (that would be 10 million people)

Other brethren and I will be presenting studies on several present truth topics, and we will also have outstanding DVD/CD studies from Brad Scott (Wild Branch Ministries) and Tony Robinson (Restoration of Torah), two brethren whose messages I was privileged to hear in person at the ResTORAHation Conference in Chicago this summer. Steve Kraner, whose ministry has blessed us for the last several festival seasons, has informed me that due to increasing interest throughout the Chicagoland area in celebrating the Scriptural appointed times, he may not be able to join us here this fall. If he proceeds with plans to hold convocations in his area I’m sure we will all wish our Heavenly Father Yahuah’s blessings on his efforts.

As noted, fellowship dinners/suppers are included on the four festival sabbaths, and those attendees who are able to do so are encouraged to bring vegan food contributions for these meals. Please inform me if you plan to attend, so that we can have some idea how much food we need to prepare.

The calendar we use to determine festival timing is based on simple Scriptural principles, i.e. the month (or moon-th) begins with the sighting of the new moon crescent at Jerusalem, and the year begins when barley has reached the appropriate green ear stage of ripeness in the Land of Israel. Those wishing to research this subject should go to for more detailed studies.
