What is a Prophet and Who is Elijah

Joseph F. Dumond

Isa 6:9-12 And He said, Go, and tell this people, You hear indeed, but do not understand; and seeing you see, but do not know. Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their hearts, and turn back, and be healed. Then I said, Lord, how long? And He answered, Until the cities are wasted without inhabitant, and the houses without man, and the land laid waste, a desolation, and until Jehovah has moved men far away, and the desolation in the midst of the land is great.

Sighted Moon News Letter 5844-017

22nd day of the Fourth month 5844 Years After Creation

July 26, 2008

Shabbat Shalom Family and Friends,

I have added a new article to the web site and I am hoping you will take a few moments to read it. In the Jubilee message on the DVD I showed you a chart that shows how much the Federal Reserve has lent the banks to keep them solvent. On the DVD the chart was around 47 Billion. I just looked at the newest version of this chart this week and it was up to 170 Billion, an increase of 123 billion in just 6 months. You need to read this short article “Total Borrowings of Depository Institutions (banks) from the Federal Reserve.” I show this chart and explain this to you as a possible cause to the disease outbreaks that are soon to be upon us, after 2010. Again you can watch the DVD at https://www.sightedmoon-archives.com/movie-prophecies-in-the-jubilees/

A Sister has forwarded this article on to me. Consider what is being said here. IF, IF those things I am saying here are correct, Europe does need to get going in order to have a standing army ready and capable of defeating the USA in a war. Hitler took just 5-7 years if my memory is right to go from a depressed country to an economic and fearful war nation. The curse of war is to start after 2017.

The tanks and canons trucks and aircraft are already on the ground in Europe under the NATO accord. All that is needed is for the command to be taken over, by a united European chief of staff. Read this article and consider what is taking shape.

Thank you for your site. We have learned much, however our daughter and our friends ears remain closed. We continue to pray they’ll be awaken before it’s to late. Thank you again for sharing your knowledge. Yes, sometimes you are hard to follow but that’s okay. How are we going to stretch our minds if there is no need to stretch them! Those who need the milk can receive it from your teaching. Those who need stronger meat receive that as well! Thank you and please continue your good work! May God Bless You in all your endeavors. Sincerely D.& D. W.

The following is from The Good News, July-August 2008, World News & Trends. It appears that others (meaning Geoffrey Van Orden) are aware of Germany’s ambitions.

An overview of conditions around the world.

Brussels planning takeover of British armed forces?

Plans for a European army (in place of NATO) simply won’t disappear and continue to resurface from time to time. The European Parliament is now considering proposals for setting up EU forces under EU command. German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier said at a May 5 security policy conference in Berlin that he favored the establishment of a European military force and that he wanted moves in this direction to be sped up. He also noted that the EU treaty currently being ratified by EU member states allows a group of member states to work together toward establishing a common defense policy.

According to Shadow Conservative Defense Secretary Liam Fox, Brussels should not get in the way of British forces in Afghanistan and other areas where EU policy could potentially undermine NATO. Dr. Fox stated: “This is another example of the EU getting involved in an area in which it has no business. NATO must maintain its primacy in European defense. Anything less, including a Euro army, is simply unacceptable” (Daily Express, June 5, 2008).

In the same article Geoffrey Van Orden, British Conservative policy spokesman concerning Defense in the European Parliament (EP), plainly stated the following: ” This [Euro] report is a manifesto for an EU takeover of our armed forces, the greatest prize for the federalists and their ambition to create a state called Europe” (ibid., emphasis added throughout).

Van Orden is a member of the EP. The European Union wants to consolidate its powers, moving forward as quietly as possible on many fronts-eventually making Europe into one country with the present nation-states redrawn on the political map and reduced to the status of provinces with a powerful Germany at the center of it all.

The Daily Telegraph reported that “there is rich symbolism in the fact that the former Conservative Central Office in Smith Square, Westminster, is to be renamed ‘Europe House’, as the new London headquarters of the European Commission” (June 1, 2008). Indeed there is—the European Union marches on! (Sources: Daily Express, The Daily Telegraph [both London], http://euobserver.com.)

Since I began this web site 2 years ago this week, I have had the privilege of meeting many prophets of Yahweh. Some were loud and could not be talked to and others were more amicable. I have had a number of pleasant replies to and from some of these prophets of Yahweh. Many of them are now reading this News Letter also.

I have also received emails telling us who the two witnesses are. I even met one of them in Jerusalem on my last two visits.
Before I began this web site I was asked on a few occasions if I was one of the two witnesses. I do not know why I was asked this, but I denied I was one of the two witnesses each time I was asked.

I now know I am not one of the two witnesses as they are now subscribers to this News Letter. I jest.

I do want to discuss this subject now at this time before we get back to our studies on the Jubilee. I want to do this because of recent talk of the two witnesses in a recent study, and other things that have come to me.

First What is a Prophet. When I googled this, I got the following article. I have edited a great deal of this article and left the parts that pertain to our study. You will see that you need to glean from this article and leave other parts behind.

From http://ezinearticles.com/?What-is-a-Prophet—Are-There-Prophets-in-Our-World-Today&id=223695

The secular and commonly held belief about prophets is that they are people who are able to “see” the future and make it known to someone, thus they are sometimes referred to as “seers.” This notion may be partly true, what this definition lacks can be the stuff you don’t know that can hurt you.

The greatest single definition I have ever found is that a prophet is one who “tells forth the will and counsel of God.” This would include things past, present and future. The bible broadens the definition of the prophet in three distinct ways giving credence to this definition.
First the “spirit of prophecy” is something defined in the book of Revelation. And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellow servant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy, Revelation 19:10. With this definition it can be seen that every one who proclaims the gospel has the “spirit of prophecy” That would include everyone from Billy Graham to the young believer standing on the corner talking to a stranger about how he met the Lord. It would be safe to say that most prophecy today is based on this telling others about Christ and his deeds even though they happened over two thousand years ago.

The second kind of prophecy is something that comes forth by the moving of God’s Holy Spirit in the church. It can come to virtually anyone in the church but it is always decided upon and administered by the Holy Spirit alone. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will, I Corinthians 12:7-11. These kinds of prophecies seem only to be practiced in the charismatic and Pentecostal churches of today. But using the broader definition any preacher who is speaking under the power of the Holy Spirit could be said to be prophesying.

A third kind of prophecy is that which comes from someone who has been appointed not just to prophecy but has been specifically given the “office of the prophet.” And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Ephesians 4:11-12. How these “prophets” are chosen is an important matter and is often misunderstood so let’s look at this next.

Prophets of today are chosen exactly as they were years ago in the bible. Usually they are called out by God through a word or a vision. In the bible some prophets saw a dream; others heard God’s voice and still others saw a burning bush or some other great portent which got their attention and then God spoke to them.

Do you think you are a prophet? Let me say you have no idea what you’re in for. Most people will not think of you as a Holy Spirit Dove driven man with a vision but they will see you as a cuckoo bird with another whole new version. You will stand alone in many ways because unlike the priests and ministers of the day who represent the people to God you can only represent God to the people. But take heart because as the time of Christ’s return draws nearer God will call evermore prophets to speak and prophecy for him. This wonderful fact is a promise of the scriptures. “And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions: Joel 2:28.”

In addressing the idea of who is Elijah, I have to tell you about those who claim they are the Elijah. One was Israel Hawkins of Abilene Texas. The other witness was his brother. They had gathered quite a following, and were sending out a monthly magazine. When Israel Hawkins brother died, this presented quite a problem of credibility, but that did not stop him from going forward. He later said that either the end or the beginning of the tribulation was to start or was to finish in 2007. I forget which it was. We are now in 2008. Hmmm??

Later I met one of the two witnesses in Israel. I will look for him again this year to see how he is doing. I have sat at his hovel in the parks outside the old city and talked to him for hours. His good friend was the other witness and he died a few years ago in Jerusalem. They both lived on the streets of the city and rise up and give long prophetic prophecies of doom to the city of Jerusalem. They are harassed by the young Jews who pepper them with questions from the scriptures.

Then recently I came across another person who tells us he and his wife are the two witnesses and that in order to follow them you must pay them a certain amount of money in order to be baptized. Are people really that naïve?

So right now I have 6 people who are or were the two witnesses. And I am sure you can all name some others who claim to come as Elijah and the other witness.

Let us take a good look at this from the scriptures.

The reason we are interested in this is because of what is prophesied in Mal 4:5 4 “Remember the Law of Moses, My servant, Which I commanded him in Horeb for all Israel, With the statutes and judgments. 5 Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet Before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord. 6 And he will turn The hearts of the fathers to the children, And the hearts of the children to their fathers, Lest I come and strike the earth with a curse

Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet Before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord.

This scripture becomes a subject of debate amongst the disciples in Matthew 17:11 1 Now after six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John his brother, led them up on a high mountain by themselves; 2 and He was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and His clothes became as white as the light. 3 And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, talking with Him. 4 Then Peter answered and said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good for us to be here; if You wish, let us make here three tabernacles: one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.” 5 While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them; and suddenly a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Hear Him!” 6 And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their faces and were greatly afraid. 7 But Jesus came and touched them and said, “Arise, and do not be afraid.” 8 When they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no one but Jesus only. 9 Now as they came down from the mountain, Jesus commanded them, saying, “Tell the vision to no one until the Son of Man is risen from the dead.” 10 And His disciples asked Him, saying, “Why then do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?” 11 Jesus answered and said to them, “Indeed, Elijah is coming first and will restore all things. 12 But I say to you that Elijah has come already, and they did not know him but did to him whatever they wished. Likewise the Son of Man is also about to suffer at their hands.” 13 Then the disciples understood that He spoke to them of John the Baptist.

In Matthew 17:11, Yahshua’s disciples asked Him, “Why do the Scribes say that “Elijah must first come before the Messiah comes?” The disciples had just heard a voice from heaven say “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Hear Him!” The disciples now knew this was the Messiah but they had no idea who the Elijah was as spoken of in Malachi.

Yahshua had to show them that “Elijah” had already come, but was not recognized and did no miracles like the original Elijah as it says in John 10: 40 And He went away again beyond the Jordan to the place where John was baptizing at first, and there He stayed. 41 Then many came to Him and said, “John performed no sign, but all the things that John spoke about this Man were true.” 42 And many believed in Him there.

Yahshua said in Matt. 11: 7 As they departed, Jesus began to say to the multitudes concerning John: “What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken by the wind? 8 But what did you go out to see? A man clothed in soft garments? Indeed, those who wear soft clothing are in kings’ houses. 9 But what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I say to you, and more than a prophet. 10 For this is he of whom it is written: ‘Behold, I send My messenger before Your face, Who will prepare Your way before You.’ 11 “Assuredly, I say to you, among those born of women there has not risen one greater than John the Baptist; but he who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he. 12 And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force. 13 For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John. 14 And if you are willing to receive it, he is Elijah who is to come. 15 He who has ears to hear, let him hear! He was speaking of John the Baptist.

On one of the forums I subscribe to, a brother has written a number of articles on this subject. I find he has done a great job. So I include all that he has said on this subject for you to consider.
The following is written by John Hudson Hertzog

What Did Elijah Restore?

“What Did Elijah Restore? In Matthew 17:11, Christ’s disciples asked Him, “Why do the Scribes say that “Elijah must first come before the Messiah comes?” The disciples were listening to the scribes, who were denying Jesus was the Christ, because they reasoned that if Elijah had not come yet, then the Messiah could not have come.

In Malachi (4:5-6) a personage was prophesied to turn the hearts, or restore all things (Matt.17:11), and Christ did show that the prophecy in Malachi was fulfilled by John the Baptist, and He verified what the prophecy and the scribes had said, when He went back to what the prophecy of (Malachi 4:5-6) said, Jesus said “Yes Elijah does come first”(Before the Messiah).

The reason His disciples had asked this question, was because of what The Father had said about Jesus in (Matt.17:5) ” This is My Beloved Son….”, and they were trying to coincide the prophecy of (Mal.4:5-6), and the things that God had said about Jesus; they were also wondering where the prophesied Elijah was; again because the scribes were also saying that “First Elijah must come, before the Messiah Comes!”.

Christ had to show them that “Elijah” had already come, but was not recognized and did no miracles like the original Elijah (John 10:41), and they did to him whatever they wanted to. (Matt.17:12,13), so this is where Christ said “…He is the Elijah, who is to come”, and “He who has ears, let him hear” (Matt. 11:14,15), He was speaking of John the Baptist.

In (Luke 1:17), also, John was to prepare the way for the Lord’s coming. So did he restore all things? Did he turn the Hearts? First of all, if things are restored, they would have needed to have been here on the Earth before, and they were here on Earth before.

Was it the law that needed to be restored? No! The law had been here for a long time, and many Jews at that time were great law keepers. What is the “All Things that would be restored?” Were they here before? Yes the “All Things” were here before, they were here in the beginning, and the “All Things” was “The Word”, the Creator, who was God, and was with God, and “All Things” were made by Him (John 1:1-3), so Elijah (Matt.11:14), came to reveal and restore “All Things” or the “IAM”, the “All Things” was also a light (John 1:7), and John the Baptist came to bare witness of that Light, and this was the true Light (John 1:7-9), the Light was the All Things, or the All and In All (Col.1:16, 17[Col.3:11]).

This Light (IAM) had been on the Earth before, and had now come to the Earth again. John was restoring the knowledge of the great “IAM”, “All Things” or “All in All, to a depth that was previously generally unknown, even though He had been here before, and He is the One that would baptize with the Holy Spirit (John 1:33), also John the Baptist was revealing the knowledge that The Son of God was extant on the Earth now after being on the Earth before (John 1:34).

There are very many scriptures describing just what the “All Things” means, and they all point to the Son of God, and the truth that He teaches (Heb.1:2,3, Heb 2:8,10, II Co.5:14) and many other scriptures like (Rev. 1:8, Jhn 1:17, Jhn 8:32, Jhn 14:6).

In John Chapter one, we are shown what was here in the beginning (John 1:1-3), the Gospel of John says “This man (John The Baptist) came as a witness to the light (John 1:7), It was here in the beginning (John 1:1-3)~I John 2:7), and was now here again (Restored).

Here is some more of what John the Baptist was restoring (All things), it was something that had been here in the beginning, “…The Old Commandment was the word, which we heard from the beginning” (I John 1:7), it was the keeping of the laws of God by the power of the Holy Spirit, thus John restored All Things, the keeping of God’s Laws by the Spirit are a portion of the “All Things” Spoken of, because the Law (Not the Spirit) were until John, then the Kingdom of God (The Spiritual), and the love of the Holy Spirit is involved ( I John 1:10).

The law was here all along, but the knowledge of the teaching of the keeping of the law by the Spirit was not taught, but was restored by John (John 1:33) … “This is He who baptizes with the Holy” Spirit, and as Christ said “…They that worship God must worship in Spirit and Truth….(John 4:23,24), thus John was restoring the knowledge of something that had been here in the beginning, but was not generally taught, nor given for most to even understand (Deut.29:4).

This had been here in the beginning, the Word (Christ, Melchizedek), and Christ (Melchezedek) had always kept God’s laws by the power of the Holy Spirit, but this was generally unknown to mankind for most of history, because the knowledge of it had to be restored (Mal. 4:4-6), and that was also the love of the Holy Spirit and the close relationship with God, that the fathers, like Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, Joseph, Moses, Samuel, etc. did have with God, but much of this knowledge had been temporarily lost, from the times of the fathers until John the Baptist came and started restoring it.

This scripture in (Malachi 4:5-6) takes in much and ultimately all of the things that humanity was created for, because in the times of the faithful patriarchs, the patriarchs were the “sons’ turned unto their “Fathers”, which were God and the teachings of the previous faithful patriarchs, but in the times of John the Baptist, the Jews needed to be turned back to the faith of the “Fathers”(Patriarchs).

In the resurrection, the Patriarchs will be the Fathers, since they will be literal perfect “Sons of God (Gods), hence Gods, whom those in the white throne judgement and resurrection will bow down to and worship with God and His Son (Rev. 3:9).

The opening of the teaching of the New Covenant by John the Baptist, did turn, and is turning many unto worshipping God the Father and God the Son in the Spirit, and also at the resurrection, many will be turned unto the other Fathers, the resurrected Saints, hence “I will turn the Hearts of the children to the Fathers”(Mal.4:6), and also,( Malachi 4:5-6 )shows an attitude of love being restored on a human basis in families, and people in general.

This spiritual knowledge was known to the Fathers (Gods) in the beginning, but not to the Sons of men. Another thing John was restoring was something that was here in the beginning, and that was the fact that if we repent from the heart, and allow God to come in to our minds and beings, we restore a personal relationship that was here at the Garden of Eden, when God walked and talked with Adam and Eve.

Then we can have an even greater restoration of the personal relationship that God had with the first humans, since we are recipients of the very mind of God, which is something that Adam and Eve did not have. So, Elijah (John The Baptist) does many things in his powerful ministry.

#1 He was restoring or preparing a path for the Lord (Mal.3:1[Is.40:3]).

#2 He was restoring the relationship of God with His People.

#3 He was showing that the All things, “IAM” (Christ) was indeed a great portion of the “all things” mentioned in (Mal. 4:5-6).

#4 He was showing that God desires a relationship with His people and will give them His Holy Spirit (Luke 11:13, Jhn 1:33), if they ask Him.

#5 He was also preaching about the coming Kingdom of God, which will be restored to the Earth.(Luke 16:16).

#6 He was showing the fathers and the sons, that by worshipping God in the Spirit, that they could have Godly love and the true values in their lives (Phil.2:15).

#7 He was showing that there was much more to pleasing God than just keeping the commandments (Luke 3:8, Matt.19:16-21)), and John was also turning many toward a love filled relationship with God and neighbor, which still continues to this day, and as Christ said “…There is no greater prophet than John the Baptist….”(Luke 7:28). Some of the fruits of his ministry of preparing a people for the Lord (Luke 1:17) are still on this Earth today, as (Malachi 4;5-6 ) continues to be fulfilled as a perpetual prophecy; and it will blossom forth in a great fulfillment at the end of the age, and even after that.

John started the setting in place the spiritual knowledge (Luke 1:77) and of the setting in place the “Capstone” (The Saviour [Mal.3:1~Isa.40:3), onto the foundation of the “Law and the Prophets” (Luke 16:29-31); also the “Law was given through Moses, but Grace and truth came through Jesus Christ” (John 1:17).

John also showed great humbleness in doing the work he had been given to do (John 3:27,30,31) and he gave all credit for his works to God above.

John was also instrumental in ending the “Levitical Covenant”, being a Levite of the priestly tribe (Luke 1:5, 60), and John said “He must increase, but I must decrease”(John 3:18), and this can be compared to starting the old covenant through Levi (Aaron), and ending it through John (A Levite), as Christ said “The Law and the Prophets were until John, then the Kingdom was preached….”, preached by John and Jesus (Luke 16:16), and figuratively Speaking, it could be said “By Levi’s hand it was started ( Aaron[Old Covenant]), and by Levi’s hand (John the Baptist) it was finished.

John (Elijah) Restored and revealed “All Things”, and added the spiritual dimension to the whole word of God, and the true values of God (Phil.2:15) .

All that have done true works since the time of John and Jesus, have built on the foundation of the work that God raised up through John (Elijah) to “Restore all things”. Any other Prophets that God uses in the future, will still be building upon the foundation of the former “Two Witnesses” Jesus and John (John 1:7,8 ~John 1:32,34), and that includes the latter “Two Witnesses”.

So, to answer the question! What did Elijah restore? Elijah restored or introduced the Son of God (Joshua [Saviour]), and he said “…Behold the Lamb of God….”(John 1:29,34,36), in the greatest restoration and introduction in history; John opened up this restoration of “Allthings”, and then Jesus the Christ will fulfill in total this restoration (Acts 3:21), and will give the world His true values (Phil.2:15).

”’Was John the Baptist a Liar? ”’

Was John The Baptist a liar? Why did he say that He was not “Elijah”, when Christ said that he was “Elijah”? (Mat.11:14). John The Baptist came on the scene, and astounded many of those of his time, though many knew by the prophecies of ( Daniel 9:25), approximately the very time that the Messiah should appear.

So inadvertently the religious authorities and Jews of the day got him confused with the coming of the Messiah, just as they got many things confused; so they came to John and asked him “Who are you?” “Are you Elijah?” He said “no! They said “Are you the Prophet (Messiah [Deut. 18:15])?” He said “no!” (John 1:21-23) They said “If you are not the Christ, Elijah or the “Prophet”, then why do you baptize?” (John 1:25) John said “I baptize with water, but He who comes after me will baptize with the Holy Spirit” (Matt. 3:11).

John the Baptist was preparing a people for Christ’s ministry! (Luke 1:17) So why did John tell them that he was not Elijah, when Christ said that he was Elijah? (Matt.11:14.)

First of all we have to look at things from the perspective of the Jews and the religious authorities of the day. They were very familiar with the prophecy of (Deut.18:15,18,19) where Moses was predicting the coming of The Messiah. Also, they were familiar with (Malachi 4:5-6) speaking about the coming of Elijah before the day of the Lord.

What happened here is, that they saw John and his ministry having the fruits and works of God, and many recognized him as being a prophet that was why they asked him “Who are you?”(John 1:19) John was truthful in telling them “I am not Elijah!” Because his name was not Elijah, it was John. John was also aware of the fact that the “Elijah” mentioned in Malachi was in fact an office. The thing that the Jews were confused about, was that they did not realize that in Moses’ prophecy (Deut.18:15), Moses was referring to the Christ, not another prophet, also they thought that John the Baptist might be the literal resurrected “Elijah” or “That Prophet”.

They were not fully understanding that the prophecy of (Malachi 4:5, 6) was speaking more of the same kind of office that the original Elijah did have, and was not speaking of the original Elijah.

So what scriptures did John direct them to? He directed them to (Isaiah 40:3, Malachi 3:1)”The voice of one crying in the wilderness”. He readily admitted that he was the “Voice in the wilderness”. Another indication of the Jews lack of full understanding of the scriptures was; that they also attributed some of the same things to Christ, that they attributed to John (Mark 6:15), some called Christ “Elijah”, also though, some were correct in calling him “The Prophet”.

Also! A way that the Pharisees and Jews were able to deny that Christ was the Messiah, was to deny the fact that Elijah had already come. They assumed that Elijah ( The Literal Elijah ) would come, doing some of the great miracles that the original Elijah had done, but John did no miracles (John 10:41).

But did Christ recognize John as having the office and “Spirit of Elijah”? Yes He did in (Matt 11:14), and He even called John “Elijah” by name, and God is the one who ultimately names people exactly what they are. For instance, we call ourselves certain names but God will ultimately name us the names He desires for us (Rev.2:17).

So the people’s understanding was very faulty, just as was the understanding of those in authority. John the Baptist was very truthful and honest and he directed the people to the scriptures, telling exactly what he was! “The Voice In The Wilderness”(Isaiah 40:3), not the original Elijah, that the people were looking for amiss; not “The Prophet “(Christ).

Another reason why John might not have understood that he was “Elijah”, was because he for a certainty knew that he was the voice in the wilderness (Isaiah 40:3), as he told the priests and the Levites, yet John, like many of the patriarchs, did not have a perfect understanding; so Jesus the Christ might have had to reveal this, when it was previously unrevealed to anybody ( Matt. 17:12,13).

John knew as a fact, that he was the “Voice in the wilderness, and was much to humble to go around taking lofty titles to himself (John 3:27); he was also to busy to worry about such things; as he had a work to do, as the “Voice In The Wilderness”. He came to open up the truth about the coming of the new covenant mentioned in (Jer.31:31-33, Ezek. 18:31) and also (Mark 1:8), also to start the early phases of “The hearts of the people being turned toward one another and the Fathers” ( God and His Son, Abraham, Moses, Etc.) in love, (Mal.4.5-6), which will be totally fulfilled at Christ’s coming; and also after that (Acts 3:21).

The prophecy about restoring “All things” was starting to be fulfilled through John, but will ultimately be totally fulfilled by Jesus the Christ (Acts 3:21).

Every other true work since then, has been a continuation of what God started through John the Baptist and will finish through Jesus Christ (Acts 3:21). Truly! Just as Christ said “This is he of whom it is written….” ( Malachi 3:1, Isaiah 40:3, Mal.3:1). John was the “Voice in the wilderness” and also the “Elijah ” who was to come (Luke 1:17, Matt. 11:14, Matt. 17:12,13).

”’Was John The Baptist’s Ministry Significant”’

Compared to the end time “Elijah” was John the Baptist just insignificant? First of all, in (Malachi 3:1), a “Messenger” is described “To prepare the way of the Lord”, also in (Malachi 4:5,6 )”I will send you Elijah before that terrible day of the Lord”.

So, what did John the Baptist have to do with these prophecies? He had a lot to do with them, since they were about him.
For those that think that John just had a very insignificant role and ministry, here are a few truths about the role he did have.

In (Luke 1: 11) an Angel of the Lord told Zacharias that he and his wife, who was barren would have a child, and the Angel by the authority of God Almighty, told him that they would bear a son.

They were even told to call him John, in (Luke 1:13), and also he would be great and filled with the Holy Spirit from birth (Luke 1:15), and turn many to God (Luke 1:16), in The Spirit of Elijah (Luke 1:17), this sounds very impressive.

Also, God Inspired Zacharias to say “You Child will be called a Prophet of the Most High….”(Luke 1:76), this is a great calling; also he was to give knowledge of salvation to his people (Luke 1:76).

So did John do these things? And was his ministry just a small little Ministry? Look at (Matt.3:5), notice “Jerusalem, all Judea and the entire region around the Jordan went out to him”, this does not sound like a small, insignificant ministry.

So was John preparing the way of the Lord? Yes! He said in (Matt.3:11) ‘”He who is coming is mightier than I”, and Jesus the Son of God came, (Matt. 3:13,17) so John had a unique ministry, preparing the way for the Son of God.

What did Christ say about him, and who did He call him? We will find out in the next few paragraphs. We have heard that Christ said, “Elijah is coming first (Matt.17:11)”, in (Matt 17:10 ), The Scribes and The Pharisees said that “Elijah must come first”(That was what they said), because they were aware of (Mal.4:6), but they were not aware of who John really was; also, because they did not want to accept Christ as the Messiah.

The Scribes, Pharisees and Chief priests accepted neither John as Elijah, or Christ as the Messiah, even though many did recognize John as “A” prophet, if they had recognized John as “The Elijah, who was to come, to prepare the way for the coming of the Lord”, then they would have not had an excuse for not recognizing Christ as the Messiah, but since they did not recognize John, then in their own minds ,they had their faulty “excuse” for not accepting Christ.

Both John and Christ corroborated the fact, that neither of them were generally recognized (John 1:26) and (Matt.17:12).
But what did Christ say? He said in alluding back to (Mal.4:6), which said “He is coming ( Mal.4:6), Christ said “He has already come and they didn’t know him”(Luke 17:11,12), Christ nowhere refers to a future coming, but He refers to a past coming, when He said “Elijah is coming first”; He was alluding to the fact that (Malachi 4:5, 6 ) had been already fulfilled.

Also in (Matt. 11:14) He calls John “Elijah” and says, that “There was none greater than John the Baptist” (Matt.11:11 ),”that had risen”, and (Matt.11:9 )”He is more than a prophet”, (Luke 7:28), “There is not a greater prophet, than John the Baptist”.

So how many people do we know of, that God has said that about? These are very, very powerful words indeed, and no small ministry.

What else did John do? And is any of it important for today?

Up until John, the law was preached with very little, if any speaking of the spiritual intent of The Word of God (Matt.11:13), but John came and opened up the understanding about what was to come at Christ’s sacrifice, when the veil of the temple would be rent and, we would have access to the Holy Spirit,(Matt 3:11, Mark 1:8, John 1:33).

John opened up the first preaching about the New Covenant, that is the Holy Spirit is to be given to the sons of men.
Every other true work that has been done in the name of the son of God since then, has been a continuation of what God started through John the Baptist; he was to prepare a people for the Lord (Luke 1:17), did He? Yes He did! Then and now.

This preparing is still going on, even until this day, up until the coming of The Lord; this is a continuing prophecy, which will be fulfilled at Christ’s coming and even after that; all through the millennium; throughout the White Throne Judgement; to the ends of The Earth, and it was started through John the Baptist.

So what else can we say about John the Baptist, we know that he was the messenger who would prepare the way…. ,(Luke 7:24), he was Elijah, (Matt 11:7-15)

  • He was given his name by God
  • He was great in the Lord’s sight.
  • He had The Holy Spirit from birth.
  • He turned and is turning many to the Lord (New Covenant).
  • He went before the Lord with the Spirit and power of Elijah.
  • He did, is, and will turn the hearts of the fathers to the Children…. (New Covenant).
  • He will make a people prepared for the Lord.

So we know quite a lot about “Elijah”, we know that even the religious authorities of his day were astounded at, the works of a prophet, that he was doing, (John 1:22), when they said “who are you ?”

But, as far as another “end time” Elijah goes, we know very Little, because, when God Said “I will send Elijah before that great and terrible day of the Lord , we do not know the time frame of this prophecy, a thousand years is like a day in God’s sight; this time frame could be two days, two years, or 2000 years.

The Two Witnesses’ ministry seems to be an “Elijah or Moses” type work, but anything that we have on this is mostly speculation, if God chooses to raise up another “Elijah” type figure, or a “Moses” type work, He will do it when and where He chooses, so let us just wait on the Eternal to reveal it to us.
God does not lie, but He also does not tell us everything, until He is ready , (Acts 1:7), we can get ourselves into trouble by assuming that God is going to do certain things, lets wait as in (Daniel 12:12).

God has nothing but His love and our best interests at heart; this is where our faith comes in if we wait on the Eternal.
So Lets have “The patience of the Saints” and wait.

Also, Jesus the Christ will certainly fulfill The total fulfillment of Mal.4:4-6), and this is shown in (Acts 3:21).

”Did Christ Speak Of An Endtime “Elijah”?”’

Did Christ Speak of An “End time” Elijah or Did Christ speak of an Elijah, who would come before the great and dreadful day of the Lord? When Christ said, when asked by the disciples about Elijah, He said “Indeed, Elijah is coming (Pointing to Malachi), but “I tell you, that he has already come….”(Matt.17:11-13), and in (:13), He says his disciples understood, that he spoke of John the Baptist! Does this statement refer to John, or an “End time Elijah? What Is the context of these statements by Christ, was it “Who Elijah was? Or an end time Elijah? Many have said “Elijah does come” In (Matt. 11:14 ), Christ said “If you are willing to receive it he (John) is Elijah who is to come (:15) “He who has ears to hear, then let him hear”.

In these scriptures, did Christ say “He is Elijah who is to come”? Did Christ say “He has come already” (Matt. 17:11,12), and where did he speak of an end time Elijah? In Malachi (4:5) ” I will send Elijah before the great and dreadful day of the Lord”. Was ( Luke 1:17), the scripture that cross references over to (Malachi 4:5, 6) speaking of an End time Elijah, or John the Baptist, or a third Elijah; John was definitely a second “Elijah”, there is no getting around this fact, but where is a third Elijah mentioned? The second Elijah was mentioned in (Malachi 4:5) in the time period of “…before the great and dreadful day of the Lord…. , is it 6 mos, 3 years, 30 years, 38 years, 1000 yrs, or 2222 yrs before that day? Whichever it is, it is still before the Great day of the Lord, as Malachi says.

Christ was definitely speaking of John The Baptist, as being “Elijah”, with no reference whatsoever to an “end time Elijah”, just to Elijah (John), who would come before the day of the Lord, which John did.

John was asked if He was Elijah, He said “No!” But he did say, that he was the “Voice in the wilderness”, as prophesied in (Isaiah 40:3), yet Christ did say that John was the Elijah who was to come (Matt 11:14), so this shows that many times Christ Himself had to clarify the scriptures, because John The Baptist did not have a perfect understanding, any more than any of the other servants of God had.

If John was the Elijah who is to come (Matt.11:14), then where is a “third Elijah” mentioned? A third Elijah is not mentioned. If another Elijah is to come, then we’d better wait for God to reveal it, before we add our own words to the scriptures. Christ said in (Matt 11:14,15)” …He is Elijah, who is to come….”, He who has ears, let him hear….! Can we hear this very plain dogmatic statement that Christ made?

“Who Are the “Two Witnesses” Of Revelation? What Will They Be Proclaiming?”

Well, we know who Elijah was! It was John The Baptist, In Christ’s own words (Matt.11.14 ~ Matt.17:12,13). A work was started through him that has continued down to this day, and it is a work that will assure that there will be an elect, that will keep the Earth from being destroyed in the end time (Matt 24.22).

The Two Witnesses will be a culmination of the work started through John the Baptist. They seemingly have a both Elijah and Moses combined type commission, indicated by some of the miracles that God works through them, though we cannot speak more than is stated about them. They do have to be men, because they are to be killed and lie dead for 3-1/2 days; and their work will lead right up to the coming of the Messiah, as they will be among those resurrected to meet Christ at his coming.(Rev 11:12).

These prophets will be of God’s choosing and will probably appear on the world scene very suddenly, and the whole world will be astounded; God is going to give these two prophets worldwide recognition (Rev.11:9), for the very reason that their name implies.

God is going to show the world that He does have His people on the Earth, as a witness, and that it was certainly possible to live God’s way of life, even in this Satanic society.

They will be proclaiming the “Coming of the Kingdom of God and repentance, as have all true servants of God, since John (Matt.3:1,2 ~ Luke 16:16). The scriptures indicate that a major portion of Israel will have fallen, though not all of Israel; the tribe of Dan (Ireland) and the Ruebenites (France) and several others will probably side in with the fierce gentiles, that represent the “Ten Kings of (Dan.2:42-44 ~ Rev.17:12), that are pre-eminent in the whole world.

The Two Witnesses will be calling on these “Ten Kings” to “Let my people Israel go!”, or the Kings (Beast) will receive a double portion of the wrath of God (Rev.18:4-6). The “Two Witnesses” will be tormenting the whole world, because of the indictments given to the whole world (Ezek. Ch 25-35), and these indictments will be upon all of those, who have come up against Israel and Judah (Ezek.23:23~ Amos Ch 1:3—Ch.2:6).

Part of the indictments against the world, will cause the world and it’s false Satanic, evil religions to be tormented and to Rage against the Two Witnesses (Rev.11:10), and one of the foremost reasons that the world and it’s religions will rage against the Two Witnesses is, because the whole world is deceived (Rev. 13:14), and the “Two Witnesses” are beginning to remove the lid off of the deception.

Most of those in the world, who are deceived and following Satanic religions of all different types, will have no answer for what the two witnesses are speaking, because they will be showing and proving that the all of the world’s religions that revile the Ten Commandments are of Satan, even those that proclaim Christ, and look like the “Lamb”, but they speak like a dragon (Rev. 13:11), because they revile God’s holy commandments, and put those to death that will keep the commandments of God (Rev.14:12).

The world will begin to start falling down to the testimony and the plagues, which are being brought down on humanity, just as did Egypt to the plagues that Moses and Aaron brought down, and many will start giving honor and glory to God (Rev. 11:13), and many will realise that they’ve been in the clutches of Satan, and turn on the beast or “Babylon The Great”(Rev.17:5, 16,17, 18).

Because of this testimony, the deceived will try to no avail to kill the Two Prophets, until their testimony is finished (Rev. 11:7). During this testimony the Two Prophets will be instructing the world on what to do, and what to do to repent, and many will repent of breaking God’s holy commandments, and God will honor this repentance (Rev.7:9).

The patience of the Saints who obey the commandments of God will culminate in them gaining eternal life (Rev.22:14). Actually there is not much else spelled out clearly about them (Two Witnesses) at this time, except that they will be extant on the Earth at the end time and until God reveals it, almost anything else that we have on them will be speculation.

Much of the Two Witnesses’ prophesying ties right into the end time, also into the book of Daniel (Dan.2:42-44), and in (Dan. chs. 11, 12, and (Joel 3:16). Also, we cannot say for sure, that they will prophesy right up until the end; they will prophesy for 1260 days, but there are other time periods mentioned in (Daniel 12:12), 1335 days, 1290 days (12:11). We don’t know whether the extra 30 and 45 days, is before or after the witnesses’ prophesying.

John the Baptist was held in prison for a time before he was killed. If they are kept in prison for a time, after their prophesying, maybe 75 days or 72 days, then this could also correspond to the 1335 days of (Daniel 12:12), and could also be where the “Famine of the Word” comes in (Amos 8:11).

There are many indeterminate numbers put out, perhaps because God does not want these things revealed yet? The Number 1335 is 666 X 2 = 1332, plus 3-1/2 days = 1335-1/2, also there is 1260 days plus 45, plus 30 = 1335 days; only God can reveal the meanings of these things; we don’t even know for sure, what the 1335 days are; nothing says that it is the coming of the Messiah, though, this is seemingly the case. Remember God does not always tell everything, until it is His will to do so. (Acts 1:7~ Rev. 10:3,4 ~ Luke 12:40 ~ Mark 13:32,33). We can be sure that these prophets are those whom God can trust and they will be obedient to God’s laws, statutes and commandments. All we need to do is, just wait on the Eternal to reveal these things in His own good time.(Dan.12.12 ~ Acts 1:7), which He most assuredly will do.
By John Hudson Hertzog

To answer the questions being put to me, Am I the Elijah? No! I make no such claims. I am teaching about the Jubilee and the Sabbatical years and the Calendar and Holy Days as they relate to the return of Yahshua.

The Holy Spirit is to be poured out on all in the last days, which we are in. It is that same spirit that was in Elijah. It is that same spirit that is in all of us who are obeying the law.

Elijah is to restore all things. Have any of those who claim to be Elijah restored anything? No, they tell you they are Elijah to promote themselves, not Yahshua.

I do not claim to be Elijah. Consider what I have restored, nothing. Others have taught and brought to our knowledge the importance of the Sabbath. Again others have taught and convicted us of the importance of keeping the Holy Days. Still others showed us that these Holy Days were to be kept according the sighted moon. And still others again have shown us the scriptures that prove which moon is to be used, as I showed you in Conjunction or Sighted Which? There are still others who have proven which years were and are the Jubilee, namely Qadesh La Yahweh Press. All I have done is to tell you what the curses are for not keeping the Torah which includes the Sabbath and Holy Days and Jubilee years. I have done nothing that would warrant being called Elijah. But we all collectively have contributed in a small part building on what John the Baptizer had started, with the Holy Spirit being poured out on all of us.
