Chag Sameach Brethren,
We celebrated the Feast of Trumpets here in the Philippines with great fanfare Sunday evening. We even had two people who we interviewed who had seen the new crescent moon. And we also have a report from South Africa having sighted the new crescent moon.
BUT…..
We do not have anyone in Israel who saw the moon.
Yoel reported the following.
I attempted to sighted the moon from my area in northern Israel on August 28th after sunset. Unfortunately, the moon was not visible to the naked eye. However, tomorrow the moon will be at 5% which based on past sightings is usually not the new moon. This issue goes back to the problem I raised several months ago about large moons on the day after the expected sighting day. Hopefully others have sighted the moon from other parts of Israel.
Becca reported the following:
No new moon was seen from Poriyah Ilit tonight.
As of this writing, there have been no reports of anyone successfully seeing the new moon over Israel with their unaided eye. If a later positive report filters in I will send out an update. If no subsequent update is issued, the first day of the seventh lunar month will be Aug 29th, which is Yom Teruah, Feast of Trumpets.
BUt just as I was about to send out this report and after I had changed the fall dates, I got this report from Devorah.
Devorah’s report is as follows.
Dear Friends,
The New Moon was sighted from Israel this evening, Sunday, 28 August 2022!From Jerusalem (Rechavia) at 7:31pm by Devorah Gordon, followed by Tchiya Jenkins, Katie Jenkins, Dr. Shawn T. Hayden, Dora Hayden, and Crystal Hayden.
This means that sunset on August 28, 2022 marks the beginning of the new month. Be sure to keep track of what number month this is, based on when you started the new year.
The photo at the top of this report was taken from our observation point in Jerusalem this evening.
It is now 3 AM here in the Philippines. We have kept the Feast. I thought we would have to keep it one day later, having no one to sight the moon until Devorah’s report came in. I moved the Fall Holy day dates and have now moved them all back.
This is another testament to the Day and Hour No Man can know. You just never know which day will be the Feast. This was a test. We were about to adjust our dates to follow Yehovah. Now we do not have to.

i was on the lookout for sighting report and found a post by ‘renewed moon.com’ that today Aug 28th new moon was sighted on Bible Hill.
I know its one witness account. Should we stick to starting our observance today?
What a rollercoaster this weekend has been regarding when Yom Teruah will be! Chag Sameach Yom Teruah! I have butterflies in my tummy as I wait with anticipation to sight the moon tonight here in Canada!
Awesome thankyou joe may Yahovah give you more reports from Israel to those who have seen the moon shalom Paul from Australia
Shalom Paul, I am just curious, still try to figure the moon sightings.. I am in South Africa, sighted the moon on 28 Aug roundabout 18h50 (SA time) when it was more or less 2% illumination. In Australia when will be your first sighting of the renewed moon? The first crescent? Kind regards from SA Marnita
Same here in the Mountain Time zone (mid day here)… I had told family and friends that there have not been any reports of the sighting of the moon, and we moved our plans out a day. Then, after the decision had been made, I happened on Devorah’s report and moved our plans back to tonight.
My prayers were that of submission to the King, and I’m glad that I, too, passed this test.
Hag Sameach to all our brothers in the Philippines!
What wonderful news Joe! So you made the right call after all, well done! Although I believe that even if you had not, that Yehovah would have been pleased to move the moon one day back in its trajectory, just to confirm His absolute love for you in recognition of your faithfulness to His Torah.
With love, blessings & Shalom,
Stephen & Virginia
On August 28th, Michael & SuAnn Miiller spotted the new moon at 8:33 pm central time from Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Shalom to you,
I found a small mistake on the banner on the newsletter page for the new moon. As many here we also witnessed the new moon on the evening of the first day of the week. Which makes today the new moon day only the banner says:FEAST OF TRUMPETS TUESDAY AUGUST 29, 2022. This should be MONDAY or as we name it the second day of the week.
Kind regards and have a wonderful feast.
I went tried sighting the moon from NS Canada but as hard as i tried and as dark as it got just couldn’t spot it but it was seen out of Israel so that what matters
Have a great Feast everyone
Much love from NS Canada from ANNE, Lewis and Myself
