There just isn’t a better book on Christian prophecy than this! What an eye opener!

Of the many books and articles that I have read on prophecy in my personal search for truth, this is the only one that does not rely on old ideas that were developed hundreds of years ago when knowledge was minimal. So much more has been learned through historical and archeological research. The world has changed so much that before now no one could have clearly envisioned how prophecy might play out.

I think the average Christian doesn’t realize that recent developments in technology and huge increases in knowledge offer us a unique opportunity to raise the veil so that we might see clearly what was once hidden behind a dark glass.

After learning about these things and seriously considering the Bible, with a willingness to set aside my traditional beliefs about prophecy, I have come to the conclusion that this book is inspired by God. Mr. Dumond presents compelling information that overturns long held assumptions and unverified beliefs making the entire body of prophetic knowledge fully accessible. As a matter of fact I think that just about anyone with no previous knowledge of the Bible would understand things that scholars have devoted their lives to explaining.

The Stones Cry Out Part 1 & Part 2

In The Stones Cry Out, I walk you through the history of each change and why those changes came about, starting with the Maccabean days. Yes, it all began around 164 B.C. When Yehshua was here, he was dealing with two schools of thought. The Sadducees were all but wiped out when the Temple fell in 70 C.E. This left only the Pharisees, who began to be persecuted after the failure of the Bar Kochbah Revolt in 134 C.E.

The truth began to become out of focus around 160 C.E. when Rabbi Jose wrote the Seder Olam. This work originally was written to proof Simon Bar Kochbah was the Messiah. When that did not pan out the history was later revived and then redacted as the truth into the Mishneh Torah by Rabbi Judah ha Nasi in 180 C.E. After this the Jerusalem Talmud begins to debate these issues. It was then during this time as the Jerusalem Talmudist are forced to flee and the Babylonian Talmudist continue to grow until the 6th century that Hillel came up with a solution to help them keep the Holy Days at the proper time while they were out of the land of Israel. He did this in 358 C.E. This work was then modified and adjusted over the next 800 years with additions added and other rejected. Until it was finally redacted once again in 1177 by Rambam. And with that we now have the modern Hillel calendar which includes the errors passed on during each redaction. These errors included the time of the Sabbatical and Jubilee years.

Once the Temple was destroyed in 70 C.E., the Jews recorded time by counting from the time It was destroyed. This is why the 40 tombstones of Zoar, which record this information, are crucial to understand.

When you understand why the Postponement rules were first created so that the crescent moon would not be seen in another part of the world before it was seen in Israel then you can understand how they were still trying to follow the crescent moon to begin the month. The Tombstones show us this exact thing. The tombstones also show us when the Jews changed from a crescent moon to a Conjunction moon to begin the month. They also show us when the Jews changed the year from the month of Aviv to the Tishri to begin the year.

I really want you to understand these things so you know why you do what you do as far as following a calendar to keep Yehovah’s moedim.

Most people assume that Hillel created the calendar in 358 C.E. They then assume that because it was a Sanhedrin, they are not allowed to change in order to obey Yehovah. The Hillel calendar has been changed many times since 358 C.E. up until 1177 C.E. Few people talk about these changes but we do in our latest Book The Stones Cry Out Part 1 which is free on our website. The Hillel calendar was changed on many occasions and many sought to make other changes during this time. They never needed a Bet Din to approve those changes. They just did them. So this excuse that we do not have the right to obey Yehovah because the Bet Din has not approved it is a crock of crap.
You have the obligation to obey Yehovah. You have the duty to prove which calendar you are to go by. You must prove it beyond all doubt. Yehshua never followed the Hillel calendar. Nor did any of the Apostles.
The reason no man can know the day or the hour is because it refers to a crescent moon to begin the 7th month. That is the day He was born on and the day He comes to judge on. At a day and hour no one can know. Using the Hillel calendar predicts Yom Teruah years in advance so every one knows when to keep it. But even in the Hillel calendar they keep two days of Yom Teruah reckoning back to the sighted moon. Also in the postponement rules developed long after Hillel, they again state that if the conjunction is at a certain time then the day begins at such and such, in order that the moon will not be seen in another part of the world before it is seen in Israel. That was rule number 2.
Everyone has to choose. You have the right to be wrong. But if you choose to be wrong then you also must live with the consequences that come with sin. And that is the death penalty for not keeping the Holy Days, these Sabbath at the proper time. It is your choice.
Just because you write in to me to justify your position does mean it is right. It just means your sounding off.

When I wrote Stones Cry Out, I wanted it to be one of our FREE books so everyone would have it. It is more of an encyclopedia than a book to read. It will be your quick resource book; you will have access to every question about any calendar, how it got started, and who started it. You will also learn the history of how the Mishnah was assembled, when it was assembled and why. Then, you will learn how that information was transferred into both the Jerusalem and the Babylonian Talmud until it reached its final stage in the Mishneh Torah. Along with this progression, the calendar also progressed and changed long after 358 C.E. when Rabbi Hillel first published it. But…what was before the Hillel calendar? What does the Mishnah record about those things?

The Stones Cry Out was originally going to be one book explaining all the various proofs we have discovered, demonstrating when the Sabbatical and Jubilee years are throughout history.

You can know; it is not a mystery.

As I began to write The Stones Cry Out, I quickly found myself going back, time and time again, to explain how the calendar is behind the confusion of the Sabbatical and Jubilee years. The Rabbis, as they began to write the Mishnah, incorporated wrong understandings, and those errors were written into what became known as the Talmud and then the Mishneh Torah. The expulsion from the land and subsequent persecutions in trying to send out messengers to report the barley being found or the crescent moon being seen, proved to be more and more dangerous over time. All of these things took place over 14 centuries.

Then as I was working on The Stones Cry Out, I discovered that many people were now accepting the Zadok calendar as factual. This is when we pivoted to include all the details of the various calendars that have crept back into public knowledge today and are being used to mislead new people who are just starting to learn about the calendar. All of this was directly connected to the period starting with the Hasmonaeans, up to the destruction of the Temple. Then, with the compiling of the Mishnah, the studies that led into the writing of the Jerusalem Talmud, then the Babylonian Talmud and finally the Mishneh Torah, each error that was added is compounded over time.

The Stones Cry Out, Part 1 explains the history of how each compilation of the Oral Torah incorporated errors, leading the followers thereof away from the actual Torah. In understanding these facts, it is then possible to understand more readily how the Sabbatical and Jubilee years were then mixed and later changed. By explaining all this history, I will be able to help you the reader understand the tombstones when most authorities do not. They have assumed, to their error, the Hillel calendar to have always been in use since Mount Sinai. Not understanding the history of the calendars is why most authorities dismiss the tombstones as too confusing to use. Once you understand The Stones Cry Out Part 1, Part 2 will be very easy to grasp.

Daniel 7:25 tells us he will change the appointed seasons and commandments. Many assume Constantine did this when he made Sunday the Sabbath. Few have considered the calendar’s many changes and how they relate to us today. Hidden in this proverbial swamp of confusion is the truth about the Sabbatical and Jubilee years. The Sabbatical and Jubilee years reveal the truths about the calendar that have been hidden for almost 2000 years.

We are in the very last days and Yehshua warned us that during this time:

Mat 24:10 And then many will be offended, and will betray one another, and will hate one another.

Mat 24:11 And many false prophets will rise and deceive many.

Mat 24:12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many will become cold.

Mat 24:13 But he who endures to the end, the same shall be kept safe.

Paul also warned Timothy about these last days, warning that some would leave the truth and begin to follow demonic teachers:

1Ti 4:1 But the Spirit expressly says that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits and teachings of demons,

Paul again warned the Thessalonians that the Great Falling away would take place in the last days. How can you fall away if you have never come to know the truth? So who is Paul talking to? Those who are called and answer that calling begin to walk this road of restoration back to Yehovah, and then at some point along that walk, they change and leave this walk following the teachings of demons to false calendar.

2Th 2:1 Now we beseech you, my brothers, with regard to the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him,

2Th 2:2 that you should not be soon shaken in mind or troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word or letter, as through us, as if the Day of Christ is at hand.

2Th 2:3 Let not anyone deceive you by any means. For that Day shall not come unless there first comes a falling away, and the man of sin shall be revealed, the son of perdition,

2Th 2:4 who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God, or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, setting himself forth, that he is God.

We must endure until the end. We must not let ourselves become offended by personalities and leave the faith once given.

There are many people in need of fellowship and who are sitting at home on the Sabbath with no one to talk to or debate with. What are we doing and why do we teach this way?

We are going to discuss both sides of an issue and then let you choose. It is the work of the Ruach (Spirit) to direct and to teach you.

The medieval commentator Rashi wrote that the Hebrew word for wrestle (avek) implies that Jacob was “tied”, for the same word is used to describe knotted fringes in a Jewish prayer shawl, the tzitzityot. Rashi says, “thus is the manner of two people who struggle to overthrow each other, that one embraces the other and knots him with his arms”.

Our intellectual wrestling has been replaced by a different kind of struggle. We are wrestling with Yehovah as we grapple with His Word. It is an intimate act, symbolizing a relationship in which Yehovah and you and I are bound together. My wrestling is a struggle to discover what Yehovah expects of us, and we are “tied” to the One who assists us in that struggle.

Today, many say Israel means “Champion of God”, or better — the “Wrestler of God”.

Our Torah sessions each Shabbat teaches you and encourages you to constantly challenge, question, argue against, as well as view alternative views and explanations of the Word. In other words, we are to “wrestle with the Word” to get to the truth. Jews worldwide believe that you need to wrestle with the Word and constantly challenge Dogma, Theology, and views or else you will never get to the Truth.

We are not like most churches where “The preacher talks and everyone listens.” We encourage everyone to participate, to question and to contribute what they know on the subject being discussed. We want you to be a champion wrestler of the Word of Yehovah. We want you to wear the title of Israel, knowing that you not only know but are capable of explaining why you know the Torah to be true with logic and facts.

We have a few rules though. Let others talk and listen. There is no discussion about UFO’s, Nephilim, Vaccines or conspiracy-type subjects. We have people from around the world with different world views. Not everyone cares who is the President of any particular country. Treat each other with respect as fellow wrestlers of the word. Some of our subjects are hard to understand and require you to be mature and if you do not know, then listen to gain knowledge and understanding and hopefully wisdom. The very things you are commanded to ask Yehovah for and He gives to those who ask.

Jas 1:5  But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and with no reproach, and it shall be given to him.

NRB Reports

A WORKER’S REPORT

Why this report?
Not only was the recent National Religious Broadcasters (NRB) convention in Nashville an overwhelming success for the Sightedmoon team, it was also a lot of money… the money of those who support the ministry here at Sightedmoon (your money). As a result, I requested this space in this week’s newsletter to share with you my part of the experience as a worker at the NRB – specifically, an overview of the message that I was part of delivering at the Sightedmoon exhibit.

Who am I?(Mike)
As for me, my name is Mike. Having observed the teachings in the Torah as best as I knew how to, such as the weekly and yearly Sabbath days, I likewise had a strong desire to keep the Sabbath year. As a result, I discovered Sightedmoon nearly two decades ago when trying to discover if anyone out there observed the Sabbath year. I have respected the teachings here at Sightedmoon over the years have. Because there are so many teachings, several years ago Joe allowed me to contribute by helping him in the compilation of many Sightedmoon newsletter teachings into one-page lessons contained within the two Scripture Lessons for the Kingdom books that are available here at Sightedmoon (free samples of these lesson books can be found by clicking LIBRARY->LESSON BOOKS menu at the top of this page):

Most recently, I have independently written a novel which Joe refers to as “Mike’s ‘Avi’ book” (the actual title is Avi – Among the Barley), which teaches in story form many of the same concepts that have been taught here over the years at Sightedmoon. The story of Avi is set in that last year leading up to the crucifixion of Christ and quickly tells a story of a young man that people have read about in the gospels since they were written; yet, it is a redemption story that has never been told. The story hints at being a romance story in the first chapter or two, but circumstances quickly change which turns it into a different kind of story of love. In order to support this ministry, I have recorded the entire audiobook and made it exclusively available for free via the Sightedmoon YouTube Channel:

Oh, one more thing about myself: I’m Batman. Just joking… but, I think, maybe, Joe thinks I am. I’m not entirely sure. Perhaps it’s my voice online, or maybe it’s that I view most things in organized religion in the same way Batman views organized crime in the fictional city of Gotham.

Why go to the NRB?
My very best friend, other than my wife, has been my mother who moved an hour or so south of Nashville a little over a year ago for special medical care. For the NRB event in Nashville, there were a handful of very skilled ladies from Sightedmoon that volunteered to help Joe, but only one guy that I knew (Shane) stepped up this year to help Joe out. So, I felt that this was a good and important opportunity to offer to help out and see my mom at the same time.

What did it look like? (The Hotel)
The Opryland Hotel in Nashville is similar to some of the bigger hotels in Las Vegas (just without a casino… my joke is that they charge $40 for parking and over $200 for a meal in the restaurant to make up the difference – as you can guess, we car pooled to save money on parking and did not eat at the hotel). What did it look like? (The Sightedmoon exhibit)
Oh… you want to know what the Sightedmoon exhibit looked like. As I expected the crowd around our booth to become rather dense, I took several of my pictures early in the morning before even many of the other exhibitors had arrived:

The main charts, however, are not visible in the picture above… so, here is the exhibit from another angle taken from the opposite corner of the neighboring exhibit (the neighboring exhibit has blue hexagons):

The was the core of the exhibit – the complete timeline chart is on the left, and the four focused Sabbatical cycles highlighting patterns is the chart in the middle. Essentially, the charts are what you will find in the printed timeline available here at Sightedmoon, just big enough to put all on one space:

Like other Sightedmoon resources, you can download these charts for free from this Sightedmoon website, either by clicking on the “SABBATICAL YEAR CHARTS” button on the homepage, or by clicking LIBRARY->LESSON BOOKS menu at the top of this page. In this small city of organized religion, the Sightedmoon exhibit was not there to sell a product or service, rather, Sightedmoon was an exhibit giving away knowledge of the Scriptures.

What was taught at the Sightedmoon exhibit?
This is “the big deal” and will take me a while… as, I’m guessing that this is what you wanted to know. I walked around a bit, and it was very obvious that Sightedmoon was the only exhibit that was there dedicated to teaching this message… and, we did just that. Every member of the team was busy all of the time teaching people (seriously… very busy nearly all the time, both one-on-one and with small groups – the few pictures that I have were taken in the less busy moments). The teachings were “improvised”, as the entire team is wellversed in the scriptures and able to answer the plethora of topics discussed in each their own way. What you are about to read is just an OUTLINE of TOPICS that I taught, with the assumption that you – as a regular reader of this newsletter – already know the scriptures this information is built upon (ie: I’m not going to give scripture references in this report). Once again, everybody gave this message different, and I – like everyone else – went down any side topic that each individual learner wanted to go down. Take a moment to examine the labels that I put on this picture, before I go on to mention them:

I would often open by saying that Adam was born at the bottom right corner of the chart and that Adam dies at age 930, but the bible says that he died that day when he sinned. So, how can this be? Nearly everyone would argue with me that a day is like a thousand years. They understood. Then, I would point out that the chart is divided into 6 of these Millennial Days.
After this, I would explain how it is commonly accepted that the Exodus ends and that the year 2500 from creation was a Jubilee year and that the people were told to let the land rest two years (2499 & 2500) when crossing the Jordan river into the land. After this, I would explain that the rocks are crying out and point to the Tombstones pictures in the small stand-up pictures at the bottom of the chart.
At some point prior to this, I had already introduced the concept of the 7 and 49 year cycles of the Sabbatical and Jubilee years (once again, please note that I would add “as described in Leviticus 25” or whatever scripture reference was needed at the appropriate time; however, I’m expecting that you as a frequent reader of this newsletter already has knowledge of these basic scriptures such that I can just give a quick report and not even attempt to do a full teaching here). Also, seeing the different lifespans of the people were not 120 years, the observer was quickly able to transition to the concept that our Creator would only strive with man 120 cycles of time (49 year / Jubilee cycles), which compose the 6 Millennial days given to man before the 7th millennium of rest takes place.
When I would get to the dispute between Sennacharib and King Hezekiah, the person learning would get excited to learn that the sign of the two sabbath years in a row, those Sabbath and Jubilee years, was a documented date in history, as the Assyrian King, Sennacherib, recorded his troubles with King Hezekiah on stone pillars that are held in museums around the world.

This places the date the Jubilee Year as 700 BC with the Sabbath Year being in 701 BC the year before and also allows the dating of the Exodus and other events. They then realized that the many tombstones fell in place perfectly with the chart, as well.

Somewhere around this point, I would return to the 50 Cycles that ended with the decree given to Moses at the burning bush and then mention that many people “feel” like there is something “wrong” in the world and that we must be in the “end times.” I would then mention that Daniel felt that something was “wrong” as well and “CALCULATED” the years in the chapter of Daniel where he prays his prayer of repentance. The learner and I would take a moment to think about the many things said to Daniel in the scriptures before continuing. Finally, we would calculate together the remaining 70 Cycles (explaining the 70 weeks/shabuwa told to Daniel) that made up the full 120 Cycles of man (explained in Genesis at the time of the Flood) and where this “calculating” bring us to in modern times. Everything so far built a baseline such that we could then turn to the chart in the middle of the exhibit showing that this cycle of time which we are in now (at the top of the chart) in comparison to previous cycles in history:

We then discussed together the “War on Terror” (ie: the embassy bombings, USS Cole bombing, the world trade center, etc) as part of the curse of Terror associated the United States alone being described in Leviticus 26 as the first 7-year curse listed for disobedience. We then stepped through the other 7-year curses in Leviticus 26 (such as the negative changes in the Weather).
Eventually, I would point the conversation back to the “daily”, which is the daily sacrifice of prayers, described in Hosea 14:2, that Daniel did three times a day at his window. Since we had already established the 49-year period of time as a week (“shabuwa”), I would ask them if or what happened in the middle of the week that they see, in year 2020, that may have shut down the daily prayers. Unanimously, the answer was Covid. We discussed how, on March 25, 2023, that Netanyahu shutdown the daily prayers at the temple mount in Jerusalem, the synagogues, and how the world followed suit and shut down all of the churches due to Covid.
Sometimes, I would bring up the sword (literally an Angel with a Sword) that came against King David when he sinned and recount that David was given the choice between a plague or his enemies killing his people. The plague came, but David immediately repented and made peace with Yehovah. Regardless, I would always ask, “Have we repented?”

I then explained that the 2300 days that started when the “daily” sacrifice of prayers were cut off and gave the date of March 25, 2020 and that 1290 days later an abomination was setup that caused desolation. I would ask them if they had ever heard of this expression, or were waiting for such an event. I then pointed towards this banner displayed at our exhibit and talked about that day for a bit:

After this, we would make note that the announcement was made of a deal to release the hostages 45 days later on the 1335-day count. (As a side note, this banner at the corner of the Sightedmoon exhibit caused many people of Israel to stop in their tracks and come into the exhibit and ask us to go through this entire teaching with them.)
The student listening would then guess that the 2300 days ended in this current year of 2026, and I would confirm this and remind them that the sanctuary of the people will need to be cleansed and that we should be hearing and answering the call to repent. They understood the curse in Leviticus 26 about foreigners being sent in among them and the mixing of iron and clay in the feet of the statue in the book of Daniel. They got it. Some would ask about “Torah” based topics, such as the Sabbath, but responses would vary. I would then explain the significance and expectation of the two witnesses coming for 3 and 1/2 years, then being killed in 2030 followed by 3 and 1/2 years of troubles followed by Satan being locked away in 2033. We would then discuss the end year of 2044 and our banner that you will see in some of the other pictures that states “as it was in the days of Noah…” and “Unless those days were shortened” while looking at the Sabbatical cycle that the year 2033 is in. Looking down this column of the chart and comparing this coming time to the time of Noah, Sodom & Gomora, and Joseph in Egypt was very impactful.

Are we done yet?
You may be thinking… ok, this is a LOT OF INFORMATION and that nobody would stand there that long and listen. Quite honestly, I’ve tried to teach this to many people over the years, and their attention span can’t get beyond the very short learning bits that the church has conditioned them to be able to learn in one setting. However, this was not the case at the NRB. People would say that they only have a minute or two, then ask us to explain things for 30 or 45 minutes on average while others walked up to listen, too. Then, we would start over with new folks while the new people from before stayed around to hear it from the beginning.
As an example, the leading actress and movie star from the movie JESUS FREAKS, Ashley Hibbs, spent a very long time with learning with Ivette one day, and then came back and spent another 45 minutes or so the next day. Below is a picture that I took while pulling books out from under a table:

Her director, (Nina May?), was somewhere around the exhibit, too… but, I was way too busy to take enough pictures and pulling out books for Anita to package up.
Speaking of books, we gave away over a thousand Sightedmoon books. I completely ran out my Avi books, as well, including those on display. Everyone that learned the charts received a copy of the charts. People were shocked that we were giving so much away (- rather than trying to get $omething from them).

By the way, below are some pictures of other famous people who came to our booth… can you name in the comments who these people are?

Even more exciting, can you find my Avi book in pictures above? Did I mention that you can listen to the whole book via a playlist that is on the Sightedmoon YouTube Channel? (… I’m just joking around here – and, I’m smiling at trying to be “funny” while I type).

But, did you talk about Jesus/Yeshua/The Rapture/The Barley/The Wheat/Passover/Firstfruits/etc?
Yes, yes… we talked and talked, and they listened. And, they kept asking more. That other chart that you saw above that Ashley Hibbs was standing next to really guided us in going down many paths of knowledge that the onlooker was seeking to learn. Below is a detailed picture of the graphic on that chart:

As for explaining what is on this banner to you in detail… well… to be honest, I’m getting tired of typing all of this up… especially since it was described in a recent newsletter, where you can read about this chart in detail: https://sightedmoon.com/when-did-yeshua-keep-passover-another-look-at-tithing/
This banner is very impactful, indeed. And, once again, I remind the listener to repent. I say that the name “Sightedmoon” can also be thought of as kind of a riddle… I explain about the that no man knows the day or the hour of the new moon, and then go on to explain that that just like Mary and Joseph not knowing the day or the hour, they knew that the baby was coming. Likewise, I explain the riddle of not knowing the day or the hour of the Feast of Trumpets, and also recounted how the “Angels we have heard on high” rejoiced at the birth of our Messiah when he came on this holy day. Now that they, too, know about what time the Messiah is coming, I remind them to repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand. I pointed to the bottom right of the chart and reminded them that many of His parables were about wheat. We are the wheat. He came once for the Firstfruits of the barley. We want to be part of the coming wheat harvest.

Ok… you are giving me information overload, was there any more to this NRB trip?
Well, yes, there’s actually a whole lot more, and people stayed around and asked question after question. And, there were more charts that I have not mentioned on the back side of the charts above… there was even an illustration of the Sotah woman who drinks the bitter water in Numbers 5. This was a great illustration which once again allowed me to make the call to repentance. In fact, there was even more… even the morning while waiting to let in to set up for the convention. That first morning, we visited the Wyatt home and looked at many of the artifacts that the late Ron Wyatt collected. The following understanding of a replication of the menorah stored with the ark of the covenant fascinated me (it swivels into a bit of a tree… what we are used to seeing is how it was flattened out for transport):

The Mary Nell Wyatt and her husband, Randall, were very gracious to teach us many things in their home, and they followed up by coming to our exhibit at the NRB convention, as well. They truly are very delightful people and have a treasure of knowledge to share.

What about next year?
As I’m leaving the convention, Joe asks me, “Do you want to come next year?” Without hesitation, I immediately said very honestly, “No.” I can’t help but be open and honest when I say that I’m not really into the whole organized religious scene (he did ask if I “want” to come). In addition, my best friend, my mom, died while I spoke with her and held her hand the day before meeting up with Joe and the team for this event. I wasn’t really my “normal” self, obviously, and did not get more than a few hours of sleep each night the entire week. But, my mom (who shares my beliefs) wanted me to go, and I knew that I was needed at the NRB. I did not want to let the team down. Hence, I went. And, I’m glad that I did. So, after a moment, I said to Joe, “well… ask me again when I’m not exhausted.”
The harvest is great, and the workers truly are few. Now that you have seen the many pictures of the excellent quality of the Sightedmoon exhibit above and the amazing results, take a look at what it takes just to setup one of these banners:

The ladies (Sombra, Ivette, Kim, and Shane’s wife Anita) were indispensable at the NRB in Nashville; but as for the men, it was just Joe, Shane, and myself there onsite. It quite literally pushed all of us to our limits. This is how I knew that the Spirit of Yehovah was in it. It actually worked. It really worked. It was a very successful event. All of this, despite us being a small group in size, somehow it all worked. (and, it is still working… remotely, there is only Ryan and Pauline working on producing the graphics and video, as well as faithful James working the website.)
But, how much more can, say, a team of a dozen guys do next year? (And, yes, “dozen” was a 12 disciples’ reference.) Washington DC is a bit grander of a venue than Nashville, Tennessee. If this is something that the folks here at Sightedmoon value and want for next year, it will require a bit more than the money, in my opinion.

NRB2026 By Kim Tate

It was an honor to be a part of NRB2026 this year in Nashville last week. Our team is very spread out, geographically, so the best part of any event is getting to spend time with them face-to-face instead of on Zoom.
I thought it would be fun for us all to visit the Ron Wyatt Museum south of Nashville. Ron discovered Noah’s ark in Turkey. The museum is now in Mary Nell Wyatt’s home in Cool Springs. She and her husband, Randall, gave us the inside scoop on Ron’s discoveries and described all the artifacts on display. It was an amazing start to a full week of NRB.
We never go to an NRB expecting to meet famous or high-profile people because our goal is to just get this “time’s up” message out to the world. This year each person on the team made a meaningful connection with an actress, a director, a rabbi, an author or the director of a museum. Even Mary Nell Wyatt and her husband came back to our booth and met Kevin Sorbo who just directed the movie, Noah. Each day was an adventure, both exciting and exhausting.
Many of the people who came into our booth were searching for answers, wanting to know where we are in God’s timeline. Most of them were well-versed in the Bible. I didn’t get any pushback on date-setting this year. I think most people sense that we are in the last days. They wanted to compare notes, hear what we had to say. I remember, last year, Joe would say “Don’t worry about getting a detail wrong because no one will know “. I think this year was different. Many were students of the Word. I am so thankful for Joe’s teachings and our Midrash on Shabbat. We must continue to study and share. Many are waking up.

Although the NRB is centred towards Christian Broadcasting, Sightedmoon has had its second year in attendance with much positive feedback from attendees and exhibitors who have come into the booth and learned what we are teaching. My experience over the past two years has been so positive that I almost miss the atmosphere of so many Believers in Yeshua being under one roof. Yes, we don’t all agree on things, but we are all digging to learn and to know our God, but we are just in a different lane. There are many I talked with or planted a seed with that understood that we are in the end times, but didn’t quite understand what that meant, and after showing them the Timeline, they could now understand how close we actually are. Now, I’m not saying they all agreed, but they acknowledged that we are close. The seed was planted, and they now know and have it in their hands to learn, but more importantly, it’s up to Yehovah to open their eyes with the information given.

So to sum up the experience of the NRB this year. OUTSTANDING! Why? Because the door to have access to an event like this remained open for Sightedmoon to bring this message. We are not the ones to pick the people who hear His word, but only Yehovah chooses who comes in to listen and learn. If they are seeking and open to understanding new things, then His teaching them new things never stops. I appreciate and give all the Praise to Yehovah for allowing the team and I to be given the opportunity to share His Truth in our various ways of sharing it.

I won’t repeat what the others have so passionately shared, but I will share this.  The week at the NRB was two-fold. It was our opportunity to shine in public and share with the world the deep and intimate relationship we are all building with Him. We have learned the patterns of our Heavenly Father, the framework by which He operates, and we long to share the depth of our relationship with those who seek His face.

I had highlights and lowlights during the week.  It started with a low. Everyone was actively building the booth, and then a few people stopped in to learn what we are teaching.  Everyone got to teach someone this first day – everyone but me.  Now, yes, I was at the NRB last year, and I know how to present this material. I took these banners to Kenya. I know, I know this material and how to teach from the charts, but in that moment I felt like dead weight, like I wasn’t needed.  I kept my feelings to myself. No need to seek sympathy or worse, build up this lie I was believing by putting words to it.  I silently felt useless.  That’s the enemy at work right there.

Despite my inner thoughts, everyone was so encouraging and supportive.  We went to dinner and began the best part of the week for me.  We began to talk and share, we opened up our inner thoughts and shared from the trials and tribulations of our lives.  And this carried on all week.  You see, the NRB was not just about sharing with the brethren at large the deep and trusting relationship we can have with Yehovah by knowing the End Times Prophecies; it was also about building this same depth of relationship with each other as a family.  In the corporate world, an event like this is called a team-building event.  The purpose of such an event is to build trust and learn each other’s strengths and weaknesses; to build up the team as a unit, to learn to work together, supporting the weaknesses and giving the strengths the opportunity to flourish.  This is what we experienced at the NRB.  So that lie I was suffering under was quickly dispelled through the love we all have for the Father and each other.

Learning and sharing the truth of the Sabbatical and Jubilee years gives me the framework to trust my Father through the coming tribulation, it reminds me to keep my hope alive because I know there is a purpose for all these hard times. Learning my brethren love me, learning my leader loves me; it gives me the strength to know I have value and purpose, and that little moment I was suffering was just a moment, it does not define the entirety of my existence.  I can take captive that lie and put it where it belongs, purged from my brain, and leave it at the foot of the cross. My Messiah died, even for that lie I believed for that short time.

Never forget that the whole purpose of keeping the Torah is Love.  We went to the NRB under the subheading of Prophecy Teaching, but the purpose of knowing what is to come and of urging people to return to the foundational truths of Torah, which is the call of a prophet, is all for the sake of love. Loving Yehovah and loving each other.

Why Search For the Barley?

First Barley Report From Israel

We compiled a video of various barley search sites this first day.  We want you to join us on this exploration and investigation so that you know what we are looking for and why after the first day, we were still not ready to declare the month aviv.

There are some arguments from other groups that contradict what we are finding.

Argument #1  You can’t find aviv barley when it’s cold and still in the rainy season.
Well we have found plenty of barley that will be ready in time for the waving of the firstfruits on March 8 and look at the condition of the ground here at the Nova Festival Memorial site.  It has been rainy and cold this whole week,

Argument #2 The barley can’t come before the almond blossom’s fall. We have seen it; we have photographs. I just have to find who has the photos and get them uploaded later.

Argument #3 The barley can’t be found before the grapevines are green with leaves. Frank took this great photo at Argamon of a grapevine fully dressed with leaves. I’ll post this also when I get it.

Argument #4 The barley can’t be found before the ewes have dropped their lambs

Argument #5 The barley can’t be found before the storks have come to The Galilee.

Argument # 6 The barley can’t grow on rocky ground.

How much is an Omer and how big a field do we need to harvest that omer?  Pauline has prepared a meme which helps us visualize the size of a field needed.  In order to understand this meme, you will have had to read the previous article and seen the photos of the booth from the NRB.  Hope you didn’t skip reading that.

Now to show you the final evidence we have found, we believe we can safely call this month Aviv.  We found at Shilo, where the tabernacle resided for 369 years, barley in the soft dough stage, and a sufficient amount to harvest the appropriate amount for an omer.

With this barley found, we can now confidently say this month is Aviv, the Passover is on Wednesday evening, March 5.  It was also on a Wednesday that our Messiah Yeshua was crucified. This year is falling in the same pattern as the year 31 AD.  That means that as I write this newsletter, Thursday night, it is now the preparation day for the weekly Sabbath, 6 days before the Passover.

Don’t forget to plan for your foot washing on Tuesday evening and consider fasting from Tuesday before sundown to Wednesday sundown following the fast of the firstborn, which the Last Supper was in honour of.

Yehovah has brought us here at this time to search for the barley. He’s going to protect us. Not one person on the team feels the need to leave. There are other things going on regarding the Red Heifer that I will have to leave for another time to report on.

1 Day: Sorrow and Joy

 Sorrow and Joy

I learned that a dear friend passed away.  Her name was Jud.  She was a uniquely talented and beautiful individual.  From the first time I met her, I knew she was special.  I wish we were closer, but I’m sure that fault is mine.  I’m not good at managing friendships.  I have some good friendships in this world, but mostly because my friends are good friends.   

Jud came to my house when I was sick.  She brought me food.  She brought me counsel.  She brought me sympathy.  She brought me friendship. She invited me to her lovely home many times for coffee, feasts, celebrations, and conversations.

I planned to write this post about packing, living through the final days which are too long and too short at the same time, and cashing in my cans and change.  Those things are still present and part of the experience.  But the float has gone from my balloon.  I still feel a sense of accomplishment and joy at the upcoming trip.  Yet my mind keeps circling back to the memory that my friend is no longer shining her light in this world.  The world is diminished without her.  

One thing I’ve learned is that grief doesn’t happen in a vacuum.  The world is not going to stop.  Even though I really want it to just stop and let me off for a minute, the minutes and hours and days will keep right on going by. 

When I made this pilgrimage in 2016, I didn’t actually tell anyone I was going until about a month before I went.  My family knew – but I was not used to sharing my thoughts and experiences back then, and I had no confidence in my writing. When she heard, Jud immediately was interested in my crazy trip.  She wanted to know everything.  She wanted to see pictures, asked such great questions, and encouraged me to start my blog for that trip when I mentioned it.  (So I DID!)  After my trip, she invited me over to chat with her and her husband about the experience.   It meant so much to me to talk to her and I so enjoyed her interest.  

It baffles me that I am now down to just under 1 day away from my adventure beginning!  I have one more day, one Sabbath and I am on my way to Portland!  I’m doing pre-trip things – I brought my work plant home, packed everything I can live without, organized my electronics, and checked for the 300th time that my work time is arranged.  I’ve checked for my passport, my funds and credit cards, and my travel authorization again and again.   

I’ve packed my suitcases, checked my lists repeatedly, removed things, added things, and shooed the animals off my suitcases again and again.  Tonight I will have Sabbath dinner, and tomorrow evening, Rebecca will be here to fetch me, and away to the hotel I go. 

My flight leaves early Sunday morning.  I have a five hour layover at LAX, and there I will meet another friend and we will keep each other company through the trip. I’m so excited to be traveling with a group for the first time ever.    

And during all of it, I will carry a saddness about Jud.  I will miss her and miss knowing she is in the world.  I will think about her.  I will talk about her.  I will remember her.   I will carry her memory with me.  Because I can’t do anything else.

Today, we did not find enough barley to declare it aviv (ripe.)  More on that in a moment.  There is so much to tell!!

The day was a hard start for everyone.  Almost all parties traveled a long distance the day before and we were a slow moving group.  Fortunately, the hotel had a lovely breakfast for us and a really lovely coffee machine.

A nice stroll to our parking spot helped get the blood flowing.  Once in the car, we headed south. On our way to our first location, of course we got stuck in the mud.  The men got it out, with Shawna’s excellent driving.  I was very grateful for my beautiful new boots for keeping my feet dry and comfy.

 

 

 Our first stop was the site of the Nova Festival Massacre.  There’s a spiritual weight at this site we could feel as soon as we arrived – a sense of heaviness and sorrow.  As if the space itself remembers the events that happened there.  As if the spirits of violence and fear and sorrow still linger.   In a relatively short time, Israel has turned this site into a well-developed designated memorial.  It’s paved, has signs and bathrooms for visitors.   It’s surprisingly popular.  While we were there, many cars and buses came in and out, carrying people who were coming to pay their respects.  Each time as the teens and families and soldiers approached, the usual activity and chatter of people in groups would diminish, then stop as each person walked among the placards and memorials and signs and photos in mostly silence.

 

 

What really got me was the scope of it.  Of course, having seen it on the television and social media, there’s a sense of familiarity with the pagodas and buildings on site, and I realized mentally that many had been murdered. But standing there among the photos of these murdered young people, you feel the weight of that loss.  You realize how many there were, and how horrible it must have been for them, and you can see clearly how there was nowhere for them to go to escape.  I can’t help but think of the level of sheer hatred and ugliness of the individuals who did this.  So many lives were impacted in such a short time, and so many beautiful and hopeful young people are taken from the world.

 

These red flowers, anemones, grow naturally on the site. They were blooming as we were there.  The porcelain flowers are part of an art installation called, “Anemone’s Before the Rain.”  You can read more about this here:  Nova Festival Victims Memorial – Wikipedia

 

I talked about how beautiful the green here is this time of year.  I wanted to share some photos and show you what I mean.  Isn’t it lovely!!?  I wish you could see it.

 After a search nearby there for the ripe barley and a lesson in what, exactly we are looking for,  we stopped at a couple of other places, including Tel Gamma.  This archeological site is the location for an ancient city that populated throughout history by several different peoples. See the wiki link here:  Tel Gamma – Wikipedia  And of course, another car got stuck.  And again, the men got it out.   Thanks men!

 

At this location, we tentatively declared that the Barley is almost aviv!!  (See the photos)  Shawna and I also spent a little time examining the pottery shards and other items that had washed down from the tel. 

We finished with dinner at a nice pub in the seaside city of Ashkelon, called Archies.  The food was delicious, the service was great, and the beer was very good.   

 

 

The Barley

Of course, the reason we are here is the Barley.  The word “Aviv” has a translation of “green heads.”  The barley as it ripens produces a “flag” which stands out above the rest of the grains in the field.  Here in Israel, the wild barley, wheat and oats all grow together but each ripens at a different time.  Yesterday, we learned to quickly spot the difference between the grains, which isn’t hard since the barley stands up higher than both.  The barley grain (on the left in the picture below) has only one “awn” or long strand that sticks out.  The wheat grain has two.  The oats look like bells!  Being able to tell the difference is very important to determine if the barley is ripe.

Yesterday we found some ripe barley, but in order to have enough for wave sheaf day, you must have an omer, which is about enough to fill a big salad bowl.  

 

 

Tomorrow, we are headed to the Jordan River valley and JERICHO!!  We are also heading to places unknown and I can hardly wait!!  I also cannot wait to share that with you all.

Today, our day started like the others.  We met in the breakfast room and enjoyed a nice breakfast and much needed coffee.  After breakfast, we made our way to our cars.  I confess, walking to the cars is one of the nerve-wracking parts of the day.  That’s because drivers in Israel are a unique breed.  I’ve been all over the US, and drivers can be a little aggressive and sometimes rude, but in general people follow the rules and obey traffic laws.  In Israel drivers are a little bit more fluid with the rules.  That being the case, it is essential to pay attention and for the pedestrians to have self-preservation in mind.  We headed to the Jordan River Valley.  I was so impressed with the beauty of the drive.  We went over the mountains, which is so much fun for an Oregonian!  At the bottom of the mountains, we stopped and had some snacks in a little village called En Malqoa.  The cream cheese danish was delicious, and I met this sweet, funny kitty!!

After the restroom break and snack stop, we got back on the road and made our first tourist stop of the day.  We went to someplace everyone reads about in the Bible, but it doesn’t really strike most people to consider – where is this place?  From now on I will see it clearly in my mind.  

 

Gilgal:

Joshua 3:19 On the tenth day of the first month the people went up from the Jordan and camped at Gilgal on the eastern border of Jericho. 20 And Joshua set up at Gilgal the twelve stones they had taken out of the Jordan. 21 He said to the Israelites, “In the future when your descendants ask their parents, ‘What do these stones mean?’ 22 tell them, ‘Israel crossed the Jordan on dry ground.’ 23 For the Lord your God dried up the Jordan before you until you had crossed over. The Lord your God did to the Jordan what he had done to the Red Sea when he dried it up before us until we had crossed over. 24 He did this so that all the peoples of the earth might know that the hand of the Lord is powerful and so that you might always fear the Lord your God.”

Gilgal is the first location that the Israelites camped up after crossing the Jordan.  We turned down a dirt road, then another dirt road, passed through a farm and a flock of sheep with a shepherd, donkey, and a dog, and then on up to a huge flat spot.  Here we found the first and oldest footprint of the Holy Tabernacle in Israel.

This is the place that they made sharp tools (there are flint-napped stones everywhere) and they circumcised all of the men and then they celebrated Passover for the first time “in the land.”  This is what it would have looked like!  They crossed over in the first month – the month of Aviv!!  There are signs of them here!  You can see the rock walls in the photo, we found worked stone for the cutting tools, and we saw many, many pottery shards here.

 

We moved on and stopped a few places and then passed through “Check Point Charlie,” a security checkpoint where they look at passports and ID, to a farmer’s field nearby a little village.  Here is a video in response to some rules that people have made up for this search.  In fact, there is a group of individuals who follows this weird idea of keeping the feasts according to the barley. But most of them add other rules to the barley search.  Such as it cannot be in a rocky field, or under a power line, or in a ditch, or along a road, or it must be every field in the whole nation, etc.  None of these things are in the Bible.  The Bible just says when the barley is Aviv.  The rest is “takanote” or made up, extra rules people have put around the rules.  Here’s a video of Joe took.

 

Leaving this place, where we found a very small amount of barley, we drove on down into the Jordan valley and found a farmers field that was plumb FULL of barley on the edges.  We walked a long ways – and up a hill,  and we found….something – I’ll come back to that in a minute. 

 

After a very long walk and a thorough search of the barley, we proceeded to the Jordan River!!  We went to the official Jordan river baptism site.  This is the place where Yeshua (Jesus) is reported to have been baptized by John the Baptist and the spirit came down upon him like a dove.  It’s a beautiful location, but we did not decide to be baptized here.  One of the features is the relevant scripture repeated, in tile, in so many languages.  It’s very lovely.  We enjoyed the view and the ambience, and moved on to dinner.  

 

Because basically across the street from the Jordan river is the Sea of Galilea!  Yes!  The Sea of Galilea!!  The place where Yeshua walked on the water and spent so much time hanging around.

 

We went a restaurant in Tiberius called “Pavilion” and it had a big beautiful enclosed deck where we dined, watching the sun set on the sea at this amazing site which is such a pivotal and important place.

I can’t say enough good things about the food at the Pavilion.  The staff was excellent, the chef took personal care of us, and the food was so good we could not stop eating it!!  Basically it was a huge pile of meat, after a huge presentation of salad.  I have had a LOT of good food in my life, but this meal will always be one of the best ever.

About the Barley

 

Returning the subject of the barley, we believe the barley will be aviv by the time of the wave sheaf offering, which is when the barley must be ripe.   The reason this is so important is that the festival of First Fruits, which requires the barley, is exactly 7 days after Passover.  If the barley is Aviv at the time of the Passover, then you will be able to go out to the barley, cut the omer, and it will be ready to turn into the bread for the First Fruits offering.  If the barley, which grows wild everywhere, is left to continue until it gets to the accepted Jewish calendar, the Hillel calendar, than there will be no barley.  

 

When grains are ripe they are still green and you cut them, then farmers leave them in the field.  In response to being cut, the stalks send all of their essence into the grain to make it ripe before it dies.  The barley is then gathered the next day and turned into bread for the offering.  If the barley is not picked at the right time, it will simply fall to the ground and replant itself.  If one waits until the “official” Hillel calendar, and YHVH’s calendar is actually earlier than that, than there will be no “first fruits” for the First Fruits offering.

 

Based on the growth cycle of barley, it should look a certain way at this time.  The barley looked ripe and will be perfectly right by the time it’s time to make the First Fruits offering.

 

That is WHY I’m here.  To learn about the barley, to announce the aviv barley, and by association, to keep the Passover in Israel.  Every year at the end of the meal, the people shout, “NEXT YEAR IN ISRAEL.”  But for me, it’s THIS YEAR IN ISRAEL!!!

 

Since we cannot do more about the barley, tomorrow we are going sightseeing.  We’ll be visiting Ancient Shilo – it’s a long drive, and a large attraction to visit, so I will be sure to share all about it.

Yesterday we traveled somewhere I have been to before – but the last time I went it was a Shabbat, and the facilities were not open.   It was a joy and a pleasure to visit Ancient Shilo (pronounced Shee-low.) 

First, of course, was the walk to the car.  This particular morning it was quite cold and windy.  We stopped as we do to pray together, and as we stood and prayed, a beam of sun came down on us.  Hallelu-Yah!!

Hello, Cow

 Shilo was another place where the tabernacle was assembled, like Gilgal, but it was more of a permanent settlement for the Israelites.  It was from this place that the tribes individually went out to conquer the land.  It was also the place that Hannah, the mother of Samuel, went forth and prayed and asked YHVH to give her a son.  It was the place that ultimately the tabernacle was destroyed, and the Jewish people were dispersed.  If you are interested in learning more about that, you can read about it here:  https://www.chabad.org/library/article_cdo/aid/5410544/jewish/The-Mystery-of-Shiloh.htm

The weather was shockingly cold, and the wind blew.  When we first got out of the cars,  I asked the Father to help us out with that.  The wind never ceased, but the rain stopped entirely, and while we talked the sun came out and stayed shining the remainder of the day.  Hallelu-Yah!

After a stop for some coffee and souvenirs, we met the neatest lady!   She told us the story of the red heiffers – the history of what has happened since they were brought from Texas to Israel.  I have tucked that video into here. I tried to upload the video but I’m having technical difficulties.  I will try to post it later.

 Next we went and saw the red heifers!  The heifers are required for the new temple. 

Leviticus 19:1 Then the LORD said to Moses and Aaron, 2 “This is the statute of the law that the LORD has commanded: Instruct the Israelites to bring you an unblemished red heifer that has no defect and has never been placed under a yoke. 3 Give it to Eleazar the priest, and he will have it brought outside the camp and slaughtered in his presence.  4 Eleazar the priest is to take some of its blood on his finger and sprinkle it seven times toward the front of the Tent of Meeting. 5 Then the heifer must be burned in his sight. Its hide, its flesh, and its blood are to be burned, along with its dung. 6 The priest is to take cedar wood, hyssop, and scarlet wool and throw them onto the burning heifer.
7 Then the priest must wash his clothes and bathe his body in water; after that he may enter the camp, but he will be ceremonially unclean until evening. 8 The one who burned the heifer must also wash his clothes and bathe his body in water, and he too will be ceremonially unclean until evening.
9 Then a man who is ceremonially clean is to gather up the ashes of the heifer and store them in a ceremonially clean place outside the camp. They must be kept by the congregation of Israel for preparing the water of purification; this is for purification from sin. 10 The man who has gathered up the ashes of the heifer must also wash his clothes, and he will be ceremonially unclean until evening. This is a permanent statute for the Israelites and for the foreigner residing among them.

Basically, soap is made from the ashes, and then the soap is used to make the priests ceremonially clean.  The red heifer story in modern Israel is, in itself, an interesting story.  The man who had the cows was a Texas rancher – the rancher started growing the cows because he wanted to grow red heifers like the Bible says.  So when the priests approached him about them, he was thrilled to provide the cows.  See that story here: https://www.jpost.com/judaism/article-717650

We walked into a plain room with a lot of chairs.  The production started, and we listened to the story of the cows and what brought them here.  After the production, the screen opened up and there behind were four somewhat bored looking cows.  The closest cow did not look amused, but with some patience on my part, she eventually turned and looked at me.  

She was not amused.

 

This was followed by a visit to a “holographic” temple, which was actually kind of neat, but I did not get any photos. The presentation brought to life the tabernacle experience, and highlighted various parts of the tabernacle.  Then we looked at several archeological digs and remnants of the former civilizations that lived there on our way to the top of the hill.

A lookout has been built there, with a small museum on the bottom floor, and a screen room at the top.  There we watched the story of the tabernacle and the story of Hannah, which was a lovely thing.

 Finally, we strolled down to the location where the tabernacle would have stood.  As we walked, my heart became full of song. I began to sing and hum and all of the songs that came into my heart were songs about His holiness, entering the temple, and blessings upon us.  The wind carried away my song offering.

 Eventually, I began to walk back down with Shawna.  As we chatted, I shared a confidence with her: I had always wanted to start a non-profit that focuses on helping people, especially Christians, come to Israel.  I feel like American Christians are detached from the roots of their faith, and so many of them do not consider travel to Israel because it is so expensive.  A family of six or eight or ten would find it prohibitively expensive.  I even have a name for it: Bridge to Zion.  

When I left Israel in 2016, my heart burned to do this, but I could never gain any traction, I didn’t have the connections, and eventually I let it go and let the dream die. 

As I was walking with Shawna, we passed a couple of people who happened to be sitting there.  They heard us chatting, and one of them said she had a book with a list of tour guides that could help with this!  It was a book she had bought here at Shilo some months before, and she let me take a picture.  Shawna told them that I tend the widows of our group, and they blessed me for doing so. As I write my skin is breaking out in goose flesh.  Those were the only people we passed the entire walk down, and the fact that we were discussing that exact thing as we passed so they could hear can only be a god-incidence.  Perhaps Bridge to Zion is not dead.  Perhaps it was only asleep. 

We then got a recommendation for a winery nearby, and we hurried to enjoy a meal. What followed was a delicious wine, cheese, olives, and bread experience, and more chatter and talk.  The winery, called Gva’Ot, was wonderfully accommodating to such a large group of people.  They helped us order, fed us fully, and then we headed back to Tel Aviv. 

 I confess I took up all the oxygen in the car on the way back. I have always wanted to discuss so many things with Joe! We found out that Joe and I are cousins!  In a manner of speaking.  We both descend from William the Conqueror, and eventually learned that Johann, a fellow traveler, also has these family roots hiding in their tree.  

Anyone who makes the mistake of letting me talk about my genealogy for too long will get an earful, and they might also find out that I am a little bit nuts.  I believe that most Hebrews are descended from the line of David somewhere along the way. Of course, people intermarry and clans combine, and it’s impossible to tell without a DNA test and a genealogy search to be sure, but I know for YHVH that the children of Israel were never lost.  My own father knew very little about who we were, and where we came from.  My own revelations for him were very exciting and I wish he could be here to meet other long-lost cousins as I am getting to know.

Modern peoples, especially Americans, have forgotten where we come from.  We are Americans, full stop.  What our families were before that seems irrelevant.  It took digging, real effort, to locate my family tree and educate my own self on who we are and where we came from.  It’s clear that the people I come from were the founders of our nation, and that the Father knew exactly who we were the whole time.  

I finished my day with a walk to the Mediterranean to see the sunset.  

 

This evening begins the Sabbath for us.  This morning, we all declared we believe the barley to be aviv, so we will keep the holy feast this next week.  We will dine together tonight, and tomorrow we will do very little – we will pray and sing and rest, as Hebrews do.  As I prepare for this Sabbath, I keep finding tears running from my eyes.  I was so alone for so long in the Sabbath and the feasts, so certain that I was doing the right thing but also so lonely in the doing.  I was always the peculiar one – the one saying no to going out, to eating out, to doing things, to working.  To be able to share this weekly Shabbat with my fellow travelers is almost more joy than I can stand.  To be able to enjoy the richness and goodness of the Shabbat right here in the promised land fills my heart with song and the joy is leaking out of my eyes.

If you have never taken a Sabbath, I invite you to join us just to experiment.  Cancel your plans for Saturday and stay home.  Read the Bible, watch a movie, enjoy your family, play a game, go for a walk.  Slow down, breathe it in, and worship your god.  If you choose these things, I pray the mystery of the Sabbath is revealed to you, and that you find yourself satisfied with his goodness and refreshed for the week to come. 

Blessed are you, YHVH our god, King of the Universe, who sanctifies us with his commandments, and who commands us to keep the Shabbat.
