Joseph F. Dumond

Isa 6:9-12 And He said, Go, and tell this people, You hear indeed, but do not understand; and seeing you see, but do not know. Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their hearts, and turn back, and be healed. Then I said, Lord, how long? And He answered, Until the cities are wasted without inhabitant, and the houses without man, and the land laid waste, a desolation, and until Jehovah has moved men far away, and the desolation in the midst of the land is great.

Shabbat Shalom to the Royal Family of Yehovah,

The new moon was sighted by multiple sources from Israel on the evening of Monday, 22 June 2020. This makes Sabbath June 27, 2020, the 5th day of the 5th month.

We have been reporting to you about the events in the sky the past few weeks and sharing you with you the predictions of Cyrus Harding about how crazy things would get.

Phase IV = June 14 – July 4. How much = 75%.

This Sabbath, today is the 5th day of the 5th month. This means that the 9th of Av, the other fast mentioned in Zechariah as the fast of the 5th takes place this coming Wednesday, July 1, 2020. It is not a compulsory fast. It is done in remembrance of some very serious times in our history.

Tisha B’Av (Hebrew: תִּשְׁעָה בְּאָב[a] Tish‘āh Be’āv; IPA: [tiʃʕa beˈʔav] ( listen), lit. “the ninth of Av”) is an annual fast day in Judaism, on which a number of disasters in Jewish history occurred, primarily the destruction of both Solomon’s Temple by the Neo-Babylonian Empire and the Second Temple by the Roman Empire in Jerusalem.

Tisha B’Av is regarded as the saddest day in the Jewish calendar and it is thus believed to be a day which is destined for tragedy.[2][3] Tisha B’Av falls in July or August in the Gregorian calendar.

According to the Mishnah (Taanit 4:6), five specific events occurred on the ninth of Av that warrant fasting:

The Twelve Spies sent by Moses to observe the land of Canaan returned from their mission. Only two of the spies, Joshua and Caleb, brought a positive report, while the others spoke disparagingly about the land. The majority report caused the Children of Israel to cry, panic and despair of ever entering the “Promised Land”. For this, they were punished by God that their generation would not enter the land.[4] The midrash quotes God as saying about this event, “You cried before me pointlessly, I will fix for you [this day as a day of] crying for the generations”,[5] alluding to the future misfortunes which occurred on the same date.

The First Temple built by King Solomon was destroyed by Nebuchadnezzar in 587 BCE, and the population of the Kingdom of Judah was sent into the Babylonian exile.[6] According to the Bible, the First Temple’s destruction began on the 7th of Av (2 Kings 25:8) and continued until the 10th (Jeremiah 52:12). According to the Talmud,[7] the actual destruction of the Temple began on the Ninth of Av, and it continued to burn throughout the Tenth of Av.
The Second Temple built by Ezra and Nehemiah was destroyed by the Romans in 70 CE,[8] scattering the people of Judea and commencing the Jewish exile from the Holy Land that continues to this day.[6]

The Romans subsequently crushed Bar Kokhba’s revolt and destroyed the city of Betar, killing over 500,000 Jewish civilians (approximately 580,000) on August 4, 135 CE.[9]

Following the Bar Kokhba revolt, Roman commander Turnus Rufus plowed the site of the Temple in Jerusalem and the surrounding area, in 135 CE.[10]
Other calamities[edit]

Over time, Tisha B’Av has come to be a Jewish day of mourning, not only for these events, but also for later tragedies which occurred on or near the 9th of Av. References to some of these events appear in liturgy composed for Tisha B’Av (see below).

The First Crusade officially commenced on August 15, 1096 (Av 24, AM 4856), killing 10,000 Jews in its first month and destroying Jewish communities in France and the Rhineland.[9][11]

The Jews were expelled from England on July 18, 1290 (Av 9, AM 5050).[9]
The Jews were expelled from France on July 22, 1306 (Av 10, AM 5066).[12]
The Jews were expelled from Spain on July 31, 1492 (Av 7, AM 5252).[10]
Germany entered World War I on August 1–2, 1914 (Av 9–10, AM 5674), which caused massive upheaval in European Jewry and whose aftermath led to the Holocaust.[9]

On August 2, 1941 (Av 9, AM 5701), SS commander Heinrich Himmler formally received approval from the Nazi Party for “The Final Solution.” As a result, the Holocaust began during which almost one third of the world’s Jewish population perished.[13]
On July 23, 1942 (Av 9, AM 5702), began the mass deportation of Jews from the Warsaw Ghetto, en route to Treblinka.[13]
The AMIA bombing, of the Jewish community center in Buenos Aires, killed 85 and injured 300 on July 18, 1994 (10 Av, AM 5754).[14]
The Israeli disengagement from Gaza began in the Gaza Strip, expelling 8000 Jews who lived in Gush Katif; August 15, 2005; 10 Av, 5765.[15]
While the Holocaust spanned a number of years, most religious communities use Tisha B’Av to mourn its 6,000,000 Jewish victims, in addition to or instead of the secular Holocaust Memorial Days. On Tisha B’Av, communities which otherwise do not modify the traditional prayer liturgy have added the recitation of special kinnot related to the Holocaust.

We also have coming up, a Lunar Eclipse on Sunday, July 5, 2020.

What does all of this mean? As Cyrus Harding said, based on his understanding of the lunar cycles we are in a super cycle of what he calls the “crazy cycle”. And he said we are about to increase that craziness.

In the USA, the radical left, the Antifa, the BLM and the Democrats have been calling for the defunding of all police departments. But when it gets close to their own homes they all want to call the police for help.

Also during the past couple of weeks, all statues or monuments of leaders who founded these nations are being vandalized and removed. Even Sir Winston Churchill in England had to be protected and removed after demonstrations. And now even statues of Jesus are being removed because of his being white is a racist statement.

I want you to watch this news article. While we are dealing with COVID-19, are we about to see a blue flu sweep across the nations on July 4th? We have the police submitting to the demands of the mob and taking a knee. We have the weak leaders of our nations and towns bowing to the demands of the mob and throwing the police under the bus. The police are totally demoralized. Anyone can resist arrest and run in the expectation nothing will happen because it could result in a riot should they shoot the person.

And on top of all of this, with the recent lifting of restrictions, and the mass riots and protests with no one keeping the restrictions and many believing them to be fake, the number of COVID cases is now spiking again.

2020 is not yet over and we continue to watch what is about to happen next.

The Trumpet.com has said it quite well this week. Let me share their introduction to their article this week.

We are barely halfway through 2020. But from when we woke up on January 1 to now, the world has changed.

Sulemani, Netanyahu, Gantz, Johnson, Putin, Xi, the British royal family, the German far-right. Escalation in Syria. Inferno in Australia. In the first months of the year, our world was already rapidly changing. Yet those events seem like distant memories. The world truly changed with the draconian government responses to coronavirus that crippled their own economies—and the rights their citizens thought they had.

But even the (ongoing) coronaviurs oppression seems strangely distant. Much more painfully immediate is the outbreak of protests, rioting, looting, burning and violence in dozens of American cities and the larger coordinated, sustained, direct attack on American society, culture and history. Activists are branding most of America, past and present, as racist.

As my father has said, this is obviously not a spontaneous, earnest protest about racial prejudice: This is an ongoing revolution. Many different people with different motivations are united in hatred—united not in what they want to build, but in what they want to tear down: the leader of the American government and the system of American government itself. In fact, they are openly trying to destroy institutions even more foundational than American constitutional government. They are tearing down the principles of individual rights, rule of law, the police, male leadership, even the actual structure of family itself. What they are targeting are the last few remnants of America’s Bible-based heritage: any lingering recognition of God, favorability toward the Bible, fundamental concepts of right and wrong, individual responsibility, the relationship between male and female, even the existence of male and female.

It’s June 2020. You live in a different world. You can feel the hate. And the fear.

The surprising, almost synchronized reaction to this socialist insurrection has been journalists, actors, commentators, athletes, professors and even corporations falling all over themselves to show how “anti-racist” they are. Some people have tried to speak out: Within 24 hours or so they are retreating from one fearful, groveling apology to the next: I’m sorry I didn’t realize I was so racist. Some have been fired or silenced. Some have literally knelt before the mob. Most people are looking around and asking, What in the world has happened? They don’t understand where it came from, but they are beginning to realize that it is going to touch their cities, their families.

I have also been trying to explain what is going on now for some time. Today I found someone who I think has done an excellent job. I do not agree with all his personal views, but I do think he has encapsulated what has happened to our society. Many years ago we wrote an article titled “When Will Your Tolerance Become Intolerable?” That was in 2017. I could have posted this same article today and it would be even more relevant. I encourage you to read it. Looks like now is when the intolerance is becoming intolerable.

This past weekend something happened which I had not heard about. Then Simon clued me on Thursday evening as I go to post this News Letter. Antifa has taken over 6 city blocks in Seattle. And they were attempting to do the very same thing in Washington DC. And the Mayor of Seattle has blessed their protests as a love-in for the summer. She even evacuated the police precinct.

This week I have gotten a number of emails and calls from people. The heightened level of anxiety in their written messages and voices was very real and I was unaware of what had taken place. It was not until Simon told me that I then understood why the concerns. People were now and are now seeing those things we’ve been saying since 2005 as coming true right in front of their eyes.

Lev 26  and the 4th curse was happening on the nightly news. Plague across the nation and it is getting worse. Now they see the anarchy everywhere. The nation on the verge of civil war. President Trump wanting to send in the National Guard to route these Antifa people. Police in city after city are coming down with the “Blue FLue” and walking off the job. Let me share with you what Hannity had to say about Seattle this June 22, 2020.

Then on Thursday this little bit of information comes out about how Black Lives Matter activists are going to style themselves in a similar way as the Black Panthers of the 60’s. I was alive and watched these things in the ’60s on TV at that time. Do go and read this article.

We pattern ourselves after the Black Panthers, after the Nation of Islam, we believe that we need an arm to defend ourselves,” Newsome said. “We will build and train peace officers to keep the peace in our communities, to defend our communities, to keep our communities safe.”

If you have not read The 2300 Days of Hell then I cannot tell you strong enough to go sightedmoon.com and get it. Everything we have been saying is coming about in disturbingly accurate details.

This past Tuesday we had reports from Israel of jets flying low and hot into Syria over northern Israel. Now we know they struck a number of Syrian locations where Iran’s militia were staging. Then on Thursday;

Hamas said on Thursday that it views Israel’s intentions to extend its sovereignty over parts of the Jordan Valley, Judea and Samaria as a declaration of war.

“The resistance considers the decision to annex the West Bank and the Jordan Valley a declaration of war on our people, and we will make the enemy bite the fingers of remorse for this sinful decision,” Hamas spokesman Abu Obeida said in a speech broadcast on Palestinian television.

We do not want you to forget that Israel has a green light from the USA to annex Samaria or what many call the West Bank. Israel has sent their leader of the Mossad Chief Yossi Cohen who recently met with Jordan’s King Abdullah II to deliver a message about Israel’s upcoming sovereignty plan.

Pressure has grown on Netanyahu to halt his plans from Arab states, the Israeli left-wing, the EU and the U.S. Democratic party. Hamas has threatened violence against the plan. The Palestinian Authority has stopped short of threatening violence, but has made other threats, running the gamut from immediately declaring a state to washing its hands of the Palestinians and letting Israel take over caring for the population.

However, Israeli estimates are that neither the Arab states nor the EU intend to take any serious action against the sovereignty plan and will only lodge verbal complaints.

The Trump administration will make a big announcement on Thursday regarding the sovereignty move, which is part of its larger “Peace Through Prosperity” plan to reach a resolution between Israelis and Palestinians.

Now keep in mind all of this is happening as we draw near to the 9th of Av which is on July 1 this year. But there is also that date of July 5th and the American July 4th Celebrations which take place during the next Dark moon eclipse on the 4th-5th. Oh yeah. I forgot to mention that we had said something about the 2300 Days of Hell beginning this summer. I at first said it was May 31st, 2020. Could that have been the George Floyd murder which was on May 25th, 2020? DO I Start my 2300 day count from there or will it be July 5th, when Israel annexes the West Bank?

Brethren, we have been so close on so many dates this year that it terrifies me. And yet, I still hear crickets from all the other Messianic Leaders who have been given my book The 2300 Days of Hell which has been the only source of information warning of these things at this time. All of it based on the Word of Yehovah as many of you have proven. Why are these Television shows not calling me to ask me about the Daniel 9 prophecy? Why are you not telling them? Why are you not writing to your leaders to let them know why this is coming and how they can change or repent? Why do you stand there like a deer in the headlights doing nothing but wringing your hands? So many of you know what is going on and why. Many of you have proven this beyond all your doubts and then you all have had the icing on the cake with each news event night after night. Yet you stand there in disbelief and some still are in denial holding to your views that you must be raptured before the bad things come.

I cannot tell you what to do or how to go about doing it. I have done what I promised Yehovah I would do and stick my neck out and teach these things about the Lev 26 curses and when the Sabbatical and Jubilee years are and how Daniel 9 is only understandable when you use Jubilee cycles. I have done this for the past 15 years. I have done my job. Can you say the same thing? Have you warned those whom you can? Have you written to the President? Are there ten thousand letters at the White House telling them about the 2300 Days of Hell? I have sent a copy to each of the Trumps when they were running for office and then again when he became the president. What are you doing now with the information you have about this? I have done this for many leaders of nations.

We are now working on the next ten years and what we are to do during this time.

The 12 Spies

Spies Sent into Canaan

Num 13:1  And Jehovah spoke to Moses saying,

Num 13:2  Send men so that they may search the land of Canaan, which I give to the sons of Israel. You shall send a man from every tribe of their fathers, everyone a ruler among them.

Num 13:3  And Moses by the command of Jehovah sent them from the wilderness of Paran. All those men were heads of the sons of Israel.

Num 13:4  And these were their names: Of the tribe of Reuben, Shammua the son of Zaccur.

Num 13:5  Of the tribe of Simeon, Shaphat the son of Hori.

Num 13:6  Of the tribe of Judah, Caleb the son of Jephunneh.

Num 13:7  Of the tribe of Issachar, Igal the son of Joseph.

Num 13:8  Of the tribe of Ephraim, Oshea the son of Nun.

Num 13:9  Of the tribe of Benjamin, Palti the son of Raphu.

Num 13:10  Of the tribe of Zebulun, Gaddiel the son of Sodi.

Num 13:11  Of the tribe of Joseph, of the tribe of Manasseh, Gaddi the son of Susi.

Num 13:12  Of the tribe of Dan, Ammiel the son of Gemalli.

Num 13:13  Of the tribe of Asher, Sethur the son of Michael.

Num 13:14  Of the tribe of Naphtali, Nahbi the son of Vophsi.

Num 13:15  Of the tribe of Gad, Geuel the son of Machi.

Num 13:16  These were the names of the men whom Moses sent to spy out the land. And Moses called Oshea the son of Nun Joshua.

Num 13:17  And Moses sent them to spy out the land of Canaan, and said to them, Go up this way, southward, and go up into the mountain.

Num 13:18  And see the land, what it is, and the people that live in it, whether it is strong or weak, few or many.

Num 13:19  And see what the land is that they live in, whether it is good or bad; and what cities they dwell in, whether in tents or in strongholds;

Num 13:20  and what the land is, whether fat or lean, whether there is wood in it or not. And be of good courage, and bring of the fruit of the land. Now the time was the time of first ripe grapes.

Num 13:21  So they went up and searched the land from the wilderness of Zin to Rehob, as men come to Hamath.

Num 13:22  And they went up by the south and came to Hebron, where Ahiman, Sheshai, and Talmai, the sons of Anak were. (Now Hebron was built seven years before Zoan in Egypt.)

Num 13:23  And they came to the valley of Eshcol and cut from there a branch with one cluster of grapes. And they carried it between two men upon a staff, and some of the pomegranates and of the figs.

Num 13:24  The place was called the valley of Eshcol because of the cluster of grapes which the sons of Israel cut down from there.

Report of the Spies

Num 13:25  And they returned from spying out the land after forty days.

Num 13:26  And they left and came to Moses and to Aaron, and to all the congregation of the sons of Israel, to the wilderness of Paran, to Kadesh. And they brought back word to them and to all the congregation, and showed them the fruit of the land.

Num 13:27  And they told him and said, We came to the land where you sent us, and surely it flows with milk and honey. And this is the fruit of it.

Num 13:28  However, the people that dwell in the land are strong, and the cities are walled, very great. And also we saw the children of Anak there.

Num 13:29  The Amalekites dwell in the land of the south, and the Hittites, and the Jebusites, and the Amorites dwell in the mountains. And the Canaanites dwell by the sea and by the coast of Jordan.

Num 13:30  And Caleb stilled the people before Moses and said, Let us go up at once and possess it. For we are well able to overcome it.

Num 13:31  But the men that went up with him said, We are not able to go up against the people, for they are stronger than we.

Num 13:32  And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had searched to the sons of Israel, saying, The land through which we have gone to search it, is a land that eats up those who live in it. And all the people whom we saw in it were men of stature.

Num 13:33  And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, of the giants. And we were in our own sight like grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.

The People Rebel

Num 14:1  And all the congregation lifted up their voice and cried. And the people wept that night.

Num 14:2  And all the sons of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron. And the whole congregation said to them, Oh that we had died in the land of Egypt! Or, Oh that we had died in the wilderness!

Num 14:3  And why has Jehovah brought us into this land to fall by the sword, so that our wives and our sons should be a prey? Would it not be better for us to return to Egypt?

Num 14:4  And they said to one another, Let us make a leader, and let us return to Egypt.

Num 14:5  And Moses and Aaron fell on their faces before all the assembly of the congregation of the sons of Israel.

Num 14:6  And Joshua the son of Nun, and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, of those that searched the land, tore their clothes.

Num 14:7  And they spoke to all the company of the sons of Israel saying, The land which we passed through to search is an exceedingly good land.

Num 14:8  If Jehovah delights in us, then He will bring us into this land and give it to us, a land which flows with milk and honey.

Num 14:9  Only do not rebel against Jehovah, neither fear the people of the land. For they are bread for us. Their protection has moved from them, and Jehovah is with us. Do not fear them.

Num 14:10  But all the congregation said to stone them with stones. And the glory of Jehovah appeared in the tabernacle of the congregation before all the sons of Israel.

Num 14:11  And Jehovah said to Moses, How long will this people provoke Me? And how long will it be before they believe Me, for all the signs which I have shown among them?

Num 14:12  I will strike them with the pestilence and will disinherit them, and will make of you a greater nation and mightier than they.

Moses Intercedes for the People

Num 14:13  And Moses said to Jehovah, Then the Egyptians will hear, for You have brought up this people in Your might from among them.

Num 14:14  And they will say to the inhabitant of this land, They have heard that You, Jehovah, are among this people, who is seen eye to eye. You are Jehovah, and Your cloud stands over them, and You go before them in a pillar of cloud by day, and in a pillar of fire by night.

Num 14:15  And will You kill this people as one man? Then the nations who have heard Your fame will speak, saying,

Num 14:16  Because Jehovah was not able to bring this people into the land which He swore to them, therefore He has slain them in the wilderness.

Num 14:17  And now, I beseech You, let the power of my Lord be great, according as You have spoken, saying,

Num 14:18  Jehovah is long-suffering, and of great mercy, forgiving iniquity and transgression, and by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the sons to the third and fourth generation.

Num 14:19  I beseech You, pardon the iniquity of this people according to the greatness of Your mercy, and as You have forgiven this people from Egypt even until now.

God Promises Judgment

Num 14:20  And Jehovah said, I have pardoned according to your word.

Num 14:21  But truly, as I live, all the earth shall be filled with the glory of Jehovah.

Num 14:22  Because all those men who have seen My glory and My miracles which I did in Egypt and in the wilderness, and have tempted Me now these ten times, and have not listened to My voice,

Num 14:23  surely they shall not see the land which I swore to their fathers, neither shall any of them that provoked Me see it.

Num 14:24  But My servant Caleb, because he had another spirit with him, and has followed Me fully, I will bring him into the land into which he went. And his seed shall possess it.

Num 14:25  (Now the Amalekites and the Canaanites lived in the valley.) Tomorrow turn and go into the wilderness by the way of the Red Sea.

Num 14:26  And Jehovah spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying,

Num 14:27  How long shall I bear with this evil congregation, which murmurs against Me? I have heard the murmurings of the sons of Israel which they murmur against Me.

Num 14:28  Say to them, As I live, says Jehovah, as you have spoken in My ears, so I will do to you.

Num 14:29  Your dead bodies shall fall in this wilderness, and all that were numbered of you, according to your whole number, from twenty years old and upward, who have murmured against Me,

Num 14:30  you shall certainly not come into the land which I swore to make you live in, except Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun.

Num 14:31  But your little ones, which you said should be a prey, I will bring them in and they shall know the land which you have despised.

Num 14:32  But as for you, your bodies shall fall in this wilderness.

Num 14:33  And your sons shall feed in the wilderness forty years and bear your fornications, until your dead bodies have wasted in the wilderness.

Num 14:34  According to the number of the days in which you searched the land, forty days, each day for a year you shall bear your iniquities, forty years; and you shall know My alienation.

Num 14:35  I Jehovah have spoken; I will surely do it to all this evil congregation who are gathered together against Me. They shall be destroyed in this wilderness, and there they shall die.

Num 14:36  And the men whom Moses sent to spy out the land, who returned and made all the congregation to murmur against him, by bringing up an evil report upon the land,

Num 14:37  even those men that brought up the evil report upon the land died by the plague before Jehovah.

Num 14:38  But Joshua the son of Nun, and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, of the men that went to spy out the land, lived.

Yehovah’s Face

Two weeks ago we talked to you about the Aaronic blessing and how it was a guide to parenting.

yevarechecha Hashem v’yishmerecha,

we usually translate this ‘may God bless you, keep you and may he watch over you’.

Yaer Hashem panav eleicha vihunecha,

‘let God shine his face upon you and grant you grace’.

Yisa Hashem panav eleicha

‘let God lift his face towards you’,

v’yasem lecha shalom,

‘and grant you peace’.

And we showed you in that teaching how this blessing was like Yehovah who guarded us in the beginning and then nurtured us and then step back and let us be who we are. The last part of this teaching was in relation to the Sabbath and Yehovah looking at us eye to eye. Yehovah lifting His face to us looking directly at us and not down upon us.

If you have not read this teaching then I urge you to go back and read it now and refresh your understanding of it in order to grasp what we are now building upon it.

With the above thought in mind, I want you to look at the 7 Millennium of mankind. Yehovah guarded us and then nurtured us and is about to spake us and then in the 7th Millennium is going to speak with us face to face. Notice to whom this is being told to. Israel had already gone into captivity over 130 before and have never come back to the land of Israel. Lev 26 speaks of Yehovah dealing in fury with us. This is talking about the end of this age we are in right now.

Eze 20:30  Therefore say to the house of Israel, So says the Lord Jehovah: Are you defiled in the same way as your fathers? And do you go whoring after their abominations?

Eze 20:31  For when you offer your gifts, when you make your sons to pass through the fire, you defile yourselves with all your idols, even to this day. And shall I be inquired of by you, O house of Israel? As I Live, says the Lord Jehovah, I will not be inquired of by you.

Eze 20:32  And what comes up on your spirit shall not happen at all, that you say, We will be like the nations, like the families of the countries, to serve wood and stone.

The Lord Will Restore Israel

Eze 20:33  As I live, says the Lord Jehovah, surely with a mighty hand, and with a stretched out arm, and with fury poured out, I will reign over you.

Eze 20:34  And I will bring you out from the people, and I will gather you out of the lands in which you are scattered among them, with a mighty hand and with a stretched out arm and with fury poured out.

Eze 20:35  And I will bring you into the wilderness of the people, and there I will enter into judgment with you face to face.

Eze 20:36  Just as I entered into judgment with your fathers in the wilderness of the land of Egypt, so I will enter into judgment with you, says the Lord Jehovah.

Eze 20:37  And I will cause you to pass under the rod, and I will bring you into the bond of the covenant.

Eze 20:38  And I will purge out from among you the rebels and those who sin against Me. I will bring them out from the land where they reside, and they shall not enter into the land of Israel. And you shall know that I am Jehovah.

That Face to Face meeting will take place when we flee during the Tribulation. So think about that before you continue.

Last week we wrote to you about Yehovah’s light shining down on us. We concluded that Newsletter with the following.

Conclusions

We started off with our daily prayer.

Sim Shalom

Grant peace, goodness, blessing, grace, kindness, and compassion upon us and upon all of Your people Israel. Bless us, our Father, all of us as one, with the light of Your face, for with the light of Your face You gave to us, Yehovah our God, the Torah of life and love of kindness, righteousness, blessing, compassion, life, and peace. And may it be good in Your eyes to bless Your people Israel at every time and at every hour with Your peace. Blessed art You, Yehovah, Who blesses His people Israel with peace.

With the light of His face, He gave us the Torah.

Pro 6:20 My son, keep your father’s commandments, and do not forsake the law of your mother;

Pro 6:21 bind them upon your heart forever, tie them around your neck.

Pro 6:22 When you go, it shall lead you; when you sleep, it shall keep you; and when you awake, it shall talk with you.

Pro 6:23 For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life;

The commandments and the Torah are light.

Isa 60:2  For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the peoples; but Jehovah shall rise on you, and His glory shall be seen on you.

Isa 60:3  And the nations shall come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawning.

When we keep the Torah, when we obey and teach others to obey the commandments, they make us shine, and they reflect the glory of Yehovah through us.

Now for those who do not understand the Torah is another word for the Law, the commandments. It is the word

Last Sabbath in our midrash session we had this verse come up and I pointed out what was being said.

Joh 14:15  If you love Me, keep My commandments.

Yeshua said to keep my commandments, not His father’s commandments, but His. This is just another example that Yehovah was the one who died on the tree for our sins. He did not send another to stand in His place for Him. Yehovah was and is the one who made the Marriage Covenant with us at Mount Sinai. And it is Yehovah who died in our stead because He loves us that much. But we must turn back to Him and begin to keep the covenant, to begin to keep the law, to begin to keep the Torah. This is how we love Him. This is how we love Yehovah.

For the past two weeks, I have been talking about the light of Yehovah’s face and that we are to be a light to the nations by keeping the Torah. When we keep the Torah we let our light shine. This had me thinking last week a lot and I began to look at the Menorah. As I studied this I wondered why Solomon built ten menorahs for the Tabernacle. This was the question I asked before the teaching last Shabbat. I still do not have an answer.

But I want you to see the beauty of the Menorah.

The holy menorah ְwas formed from one piece of pure beaten gold weighing 3,000 shekels of silver (nearly 100 pounds). It was a highly decorative work that had seven branches (with seven lamps), nine flower blooms, eleven fruits, and twenty two cups. According to the Talmud, the menorah measured eighteen tefachim (i.e., “palms”) in height (from the base to the start of the lamps), or roughly 5.25 feet. It is called the “lamp of God” (להים ִא ֱרֵנ ) in the Scriptures (1 Sam. 3:3).

1Sa 3:2  And it happened at that time, when Eli was lying down in his place, and his eyes began to become dim so that he could not see.

1Sa 3:3  And the lamp of God had not gone out. And Samuel was lying down in the temple of Jehovah, where the ark of God was.

1Sa 3:4  And Jehovah called Samuel. And he answered, Here am I.

The “lamp of God” was to be made by hammering a single piece of solid gold into shape (Exod. 25:36). Note that the word translated “hammered” or “beaten” (שׁה ָק ְמ ) ִcomes from the word for “difficult” in Hebrew (שׁה ֶק ). ָAccording to midrash, the method for constructing the menorah was difficult for Moses to comprehend, so the LORD first showed him one in the fire and told him: “This is how you will make it.” Moses was unable to do so, however, so the LORD told him to take a block of gold and have Betzalel (the carpenter from Judah) throw it into the fire. After a flash of dazzling light, a glorious menorah came out formed by God Himself.

Details of the Menorah

Although the details have been discussed (and debated) in the Talmud and related Jewish literature, the following are considered to be reliable details regarding the construction and function of the menorah.

1. Seven lamps (i.e., nerot: רוֹתֵנ ).The menorah had seven lamps, one lamp on top of the middle stem and one on top of each of its six branches. Each lamp was made of the same gold used to form the rest of the menorah. The lamps were “boat shaped” with pointed ends that faced the center lamp. The center lamp, however, resembled a basin. Each lamp had a cover on it with a hole in the middle for the oil. The wicks were positioned by either bending them toward the center or by clamping them down between the bowl and the cover. The lamps themselves were lit daily, “from evening until morning,” from right to left (Exod. 27:21). According to the Talmud (Shabbat 22b), each lamp held about 9 ounces of the purest olive oil, sufficient to burn throughout the night. Wicks were created from worn-out garments of the priests.

2. Seven branches (i.e., kanim: יםִקנ , ָfrom הֶקנ , ָa “reed” or “stalk”). The middle branch (or “stem”) ascended straight up from the center of the base, and the six branches emerged from three “apples” (or fruit) proportionately located on the stem. Two branches extended diagonally from each side of the apple until they reached the exact height of the middle stem. Unlike modern depictions of the menorah, it is thought that the branches were all straight (yashar), not curved. In that sense, the menorah itself resembled a tree, just as the Torah is referred to as a Tree of Life (יםִץ־חיּ ַ ע .( ֵAccording to the Talmud, the height of the menorah, from base to the end of the branches, was 18 “handbreadths” (i.e., tefachim: חים ִפ ָט ,( ְor roughly 63 inches (160cm). The first three tefachim were the base itself. The other elements (cups, buds, and flowers) were then placed up the tree.

3. Nine Flowers (i.e., perachim: חים ִר ַפּ ( ְThese were ornamental parts intended to beautify the menorah. According to Targum Yonathan, the flowers were similar to roses. The flowers appeared at the top of each branch, just before the lamps (the other two occurred on the main stem, including one at the base of the menorah). According to Tosofot, all the ornaments of the menorah measured one tefach in height (i.e., 3.5″ or the width of a handbreadth), except for the combined flower/cup/apple that appeared on the stem at tefach 6.

4. Eleven fruits (i.e., kaftorim: תּוֹרים ִפ ְכּ ( ַThese were functional ornamentations that protruded on the stem and formed the start of the pairs of branches for the menorah. The branches would extend outward from the top of the three fruits on the main stem, and also appeared at the top of each branch as well. The Talmud (Menachot 28b) states they were shaped like apples. They are sometimes likened to the “buds” that develop into fruit. All of the apples had almond decorations engraved on them.

5. Twenty-two cups (i.e., gevi’im: עים ִב ִג .( ְThe “goblets” or “flower cups” were really chalice-like containers used to hold larger quantities of liquid that resembled almond buds (Exod. 25:33; Jer. 35:5). They are likened to “stems” that supply the liquid for the blossoms and fruit. According to Rashi, the cups resembled long and narrow tubes rather than flower cups. There were three cups located at the top of each branch, and an extra cup located lower on the main stem.

6. One base (i.e., yarech: רָ ֵי (with three legs. The base was either square or rectangular in shape and made of hammered pure gold. A flower that adorned its top (Exod. 25:31; Num. 8:4). The exact dimensions of the base are not stated. The Talmud (Menachot 28b) says that the base had three legs that rose three tefachim high (i.e., approx. 10.5″).

7. Various Utensils (i.e., kelim: יםִכּל .( ֵIn addition to the menorah itself, “utensils for oil” (הָּמנ ְשׁ ַיֵכּל ( ְwere created (Num. 4:9). These included tongs (to place/remove the wicks), trays, and spoons to remove ashes from the wicks (Exod. 25:38). In addition, a three stepped platform was placed in front of the menorah for kindling the wicks and cleaning the lamps. Like all other utensils of the Mishkan, these items were made out of pure gold.

As mentioned above, the lamps of the menorah were lit daily, “from evening until morning,” starting from the central lamp (the shamash) and then moving right to left (Exod. 27:21). According to the Talmud (Shabbat 22b), while all the lamps received the same amount of olive oil, the “westernmost” lamp (according to Rashi, the center lamp, due to its orientation) miraculously never ran out of oil, even though it was kindled first in the sequence. In other words, when Aaron would rekindle the lamps every evening, he found the shamash still burning, so he simply refilled it with oil and trimmed its wick. This miracle is also said to have occurred during the Temple period, though it abruptly ended about 40 years before the destruction of the Second Temple (c. 30 AD), after the death of Yeshua the Messiah, the true Servant and Branch of the LORD. As it is attested in the Talmud: “Our Rabbis taught: During the last forty years before the destruction of the Temple the lot [‘For the Lord’] did not come up in the right hand; nor did the crimson-colored strap become white; nor did the westernmost light shine” (Yoma 39a).

After the death and resurrection of Yeshua, the parochet of the Temple was rent asunder and the miraculous center light of the menorah began to shine throughout the whole world. “God is light” (1 John 1:5); in His light we do see light (Psalm 36:9). “For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Yeshua the Messiah” (2 Cor. 4:6).

The 49 Gates of Torah

According to the Malbim, the Menorah itself is said to reveal the light of the Torah. These are sometimes called the “49 Gates of Torah.” The seven branches represent the first seven words (i.e., verse) of Genesis. 1:1; the eleven fruits represent the first eleven words of of Exodus 1:1; the nine flowers represent the nine words of Leviticus 1:1; and the twenty two cups represent the twenty two words of Deuteronomy 1:1. But what about the Book of Numbers? The seventeen words of Numbers 1:1 refer to the seventeen tefachim (handbreadths) of the Menorah’s height (excluding the lamps on the top).

The Hidden Light of the World

The light from the menorah is a spiritual light. It was not seen from the outside of the Tabernacle, but only while inside the holy chamber, before the holy place of sacrificial atonement. It enabled service to God to be performed, though it was not a light to be used for profane purposes. Notice that the six lamps faced the central lamp — a picture of Yeshua, the Light of the World whose arms and legs were “hammered” for our sins…. He is the suffering servant (shamash) who lightens everyone in the world. He is the center, the supporting trunk for the other branches (John 15:5). The light itself came from the burning of pure olive oil – a symbol of anointing and the Holy Spirit (קּדשׁ ֶה ַרוּח .( ַ It was kindled by the hand of a man of peace and humility. Likewise, when we are given light to behold the sacrifice of Yeshua for our atonement (רה ָפּ ָכּ ,( ַwe are filled with the divine light (John 8:12; 1 John 1:7, Eph. 5:8). When we come to the cross, we can behold the truth of God’s unfailing love that draws us to be united with Him.

An interesting translation issue came up as I was reading the parasha for this week from the book Bamidbar (Numbers). The second verse of chapter eight in particular stood out to me because of a mistranslation from Hebrew to English of a certain phrase: פְּנֵ֣י הַמְּנוֹרָ֔ה

The verse in the original Hebrew is as follows:
דַּבֵּר֙ אֶֽל־אַהֲרֹ֔ן וְאָמַרְתָּ֖ אֵלָ֑יו בְּהַעֲלֹֽתְךָ֙ אֶת־הַנֵּרֹ֔ת אֶל־מוּל֙ פְּנֵ֣י הַמְּנוֹרָ֔ה יָאִ֖ירוּ שִׁבְעַ֥ת הַנֵּרֽוֹת׃

In the vast majority of English translations I read, the verse is translated as:

Speak to Aaron and say to him, ‘When you mount the lamps, the seven lamps will give light in the front of the lampstand.’

Numbers 8:2

I believe that this verse ought to be translated differently to keep the integrity of the Hebrew intact. It is a much more literal translation, and therefore reads less smoothly in English. Here is my suggested translation:

Speak to Aaron and say to him ‘When you light (elevate, increase) the lamps toward the face of the Menorah (Lampstand), shine the light seven lamps.’

Numbers 8:2

As I read this portion, I pondered the meaning of the various specific elements, which are mentioned here in Hebrew:

  • The “Menorah” (lampstand) (הַמְּנוֹרָ֔ה)
  • The “Pnei HaMenora” (the face of the lampstand) (פְּנֵ֣י הַמְּנוֹרָ֔ה) *This can be translated in Hebrew two ways; either as “in front of” or “the face of”. I personally believe that the accurate translation here ought to be as the face of the Menorah.
  • The “Nerot” (נֵּרֹ֔ת) which are the lamps/lights/candles.

When we put these “pieces” together, I believe we get an amazing prophetic picture, which connects to the way Aaron was instructed to “bring up” the lights (lamps) before the face of the lampstand. God Himself is the Menorah (lampstand); Yeshua is the face of God through which the Father has chosen to shine His light:

In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.

John1:4–5

We, His followers, are the lamps through which He chooses to shine His light here on this earth. As Yeshua said,

Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.

Matthew 5:16

I also believe that John refers to this in his vision which he wrote in the Book of Revelation:

And I turned to see the voice that was speaking with me. And having turned I saw seven golden lampstands; and in the middle of the lampstands one like a son of man, clothed in a robe reaching to the feet, and girded across His breast with a golden girdle.

Revelation 1:12–13

As I continue to study from His Word, I continue to marvel at His Work here on this earth! God is The Light of this world; Yeshua is His face through which He has chosen to shine His light on earth; and, we are the ambassadors that He choose to represent Him!

Shabbat Shalom,
Moran

What I am showing you here with all of this is something I am now seeing. The Lampstand is the Tree of Life. That Lampstand represents Yehovah shining HIs face upon us. The Torah is the LAmpstand. The commandments are Yehovah. We get to know Him by keeping the commandments.

Joh 14:15  If you love Me, keep My commandments.

This is how we get to KNOW Yehovah, by keeping His commandments.

1 John 2:3  And by this we know that we have known Him, if we keep His commandments.

4  He who says, I have known Him, and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

5  But whoever keeps His Word, truly in this one the love of God is perfected. By this we know that we are in Him.

1 John 5:2  By this we know that we love the children of God, whenever we love God and keep His commandments.

3  For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments, and His commandments are not burdensome.

When our Bride Groom comes and opens the door to let us into the wedding He is going to say to 5 of those virgins, I never KNEW YOU. It will be because they did not keep the commandments.

Now, do you understand what we are saying in the Amidah when we say the Sim Shalom?

With the light of His face, He gave us the Torah.

Pro 6:20 My son, keep your father’s commandments, and do not forsake the law of your mother;

Pro 6:21 bind them upon your heart forever, tie them around your neck.

Pro 6:22 When you go, it shall lead you; when you sleep, it shall keep you; and when you awake, it shall talk with you.

Pro 6:23 For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life;

The Menorah, the Tree of Life represents the Light of Yehovah shining on us when we keep the commandments which are the essence of who Yehovah is. And we keep them, we become like Him. Then our lights will also shine.

May Yehovah bless you and guard you –
Yeh-va-reh-cheh-cha Yehovah veh-yeesh-meh-reh-cha
May Yehovah make his face shine upon you and be gracious unto you –
Ya-air Yehovah pa-naiv ay-leych-cha vee-chu-neh-cha
May Yehovah lift up his face onto you and give you peace –
Yee-sa Yehovah pa-nahv ay-leyh-cha veh-ya-same leh-cha Shalom
