New Year 2021

Joseph F. Dumond

Isa 6:9-12 And He said, Go, and tell this people, You hear indeed, but do not understand; and seeing you see, but do not know. Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their hearts, and turn back, and be healed. Then I said, Lord, how long? And He answered, Until the cities are wasted without inhabitant, and the houses without man, and the land laid waste, a desolation, and until Jehovah has moved men far away, and the desolation in the midst of the land is great.

Shabbat Shalom to the Royal Family of Yehovah,

It Was A Riddle Not A Command Audio

We are very pleased to announce that our book It Was A Riddle Not a Command is now available in audio format. And can be found in our store. It has been narrated by Sally Cave and we have cut all the costs to make this affordable to everyone.

This means we have done away with the expensive productions costs that Audible charges and the edits and all that goes into making this book 100% perfect. The normal going rate for an audible book that goes through this process is about $37 US or more. We are not charging that but we are asking for $5 donation to help us finance more translations in the future.

We hope you will listen to the teachings in this book while you drive or as you walk about with your phones.

New Year 2021 and Holy Day Dates

We at Sightedmoon.com will begin our New Year Saturday evening after the sun sets. Sunday February 14, 2021 will be the first day of the New Year.

Even though Devorah does not agree with us this year she has been very kind in providing a calendar with the various dates when the Holy Days will be depending on what you believe. I do sincerely thank her and appreciate the act of love towards all the brethren.

Let not our differences be cause for division. But do let them spur you to investigate each one and determine for yourself what you and your family will do.

After the Sabbath, February 13, those who want to join us on our weekly Sabbath service will stay on and celebrate together the sighting of the new moon. We will have people on from around the world so the celebrations will be throughout the day and evening depending on where you live. We hope you might want to join us.

This year our New Year is going to line up with the Chinese New Year. When I saw this it got me spinning to see if I could find a common history. Why do the Chinese keep the beginning of the year at this time?

The Origin and History of the Chinese New Year

Chinese New Year, also known as the Lunar New Year or the Spring Festival, is the most important among the traditional Chinese festivals. The origin of the Chinese New Year festival can be traced back to about 3,500 years ago.

Chinese New Year has evolved over a long period of time and its customs have undergone a long development process.

A Legend of the Origin of Chinese New Year

Like all traditional festivals in China, Chinese New Year is steeped with stories and myths. One of the most popular is about the mythical beast Nian (/nyen/), who ate livestock, crops, and even people on the eve of a new year. (It’s interesting that Nian, the ‘yearly beast’, sounds the same as ‘year’ in Chinese.)

To prevent Nian from attacking people and causing destruction, people put food at their doors for Nian.

It’s said that a wise old man figured out that Nian was scared of loud noises (firecrackers) and the color red. So, then people put red lanterns and red scrolls on their windows and doors to stop Nian from coming inside. Crackling bamboo (later replaced by firecrackers) was lit to scare Nian away.

Chinese New Year’s Origin: In the Shang Dynasty

Chinese New Year has enjoyed a history of about 3,500 years. Its exact beginning is not recorded. Some people believe that Chinese New Year originated in the Shang Dynasty (1600–1046 BC), when people held sacrificial ceremonies in honor of gods and ancestors at the beginning or the end of each year.

Chinese Calendar “Year” Established: In the Zhou Dynasty

The term Nian (‘year’) first appeared in the Zhou Dynasty (1046–256 BC). It had become a custom to offer sacrifices to ancestors or gods, and to worship nature in order to bless harvests at the turn of the year.

Chinese New Year Date Was Fixed: In the Han Dynasty

The date of the festival, the first day of the first month in the Chinese lunar calendar, was fixed in the Han Dynasty (202 BC – 220 AD). Certain celebration activities became popular, such as burning bamboo to make a loud cracking sound.

In the Wei and Jin Dynasties

In the Wei and Jin dynasties (220–420), apart from worshiping gods and ancestors, people began to entertain themselves. The customs of a family getting together to clean their house, having a dinner, and staying up late on New Year’s Eve originated among common people.

When I look in my Jubilee charts I see that the Shang Dynasty fits the time when Yehovah told Moses to begin his year with the Aviv barley.

Exo 12:2  This month shall be to you the beginning of months. It shall be the first month of the year to you.

And the year that this took place in was the year 1379 BC. The Shang Dynasty would have started with 1600 BC which was the time of the 7 years of famine when Joseph was made second in command in Egypt, and the  1046 BC of the Shang Dynasty would have been the time when King Saul was made to rule over Israel.

Ancient Asia Minor is a geographic region located in the south-western part of Asia comprising most of what is present-day Turkey. The earliest reference to the region comes from tablets of the Akkadian Dynasty (2334-2083 BCE) where it is known as ‘The Land of the Hatti’ and was inhabited by the Hittites. The Hittites themselves referred to the land as ‘Assuwa’ (or, earlier, Aswiya) which actually only designated the area around the delta of the river Cayster but came to be applied to the entire region. Assuwa is considered the Bronze Age origin for the name ‘Asia’ as the Romans later designated the area. It was called, by the Greeks, ‘Anatolia’ (literally, ‘place of the rising sun’, for those lands to the east of Greece).

Connecting the Chinese of Asia to those of Asia Minor is difficult do. I am not able to prove this at this time. But I do believe that the world at this time kept the calendar Noah taught them. As they migrated away from the Middle East they had to develop ways to recognize when the year began.

The first day of Chinese New Year begins on the new moon that appears between 21 January and 20 February.[3] In 2021, the first day of the Chinese New Year will be on Friday, 12 February, which is the Year of the Ox.

Chinese New Year is one of the most important holidays in China, and has strongly influenced Lunar New Yearcelebrations such as the Losar of Tibet (Tibetan: ལོ་གསར་) and of China’s neighbouring cultures, including the Korean New Year (Korean: 설, seol), and the Tết of Vietnam.[4] It is also celebrated worldwide in regions and countries with significant Overseas Chinese or Sinophone populations, including Singapore,[5] Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar,[6]Thailand, Cambodia, the Philippines,[7] and Mauritius,[8] as well as many in North America and Europe.[9][10][11]

There is much more research to be done on this amazing new subject.

Sivan 6 Controversy Explained

This year questions are already arising about which day is Passover and then which one will be Wave Sheaf Day. The answer is simple if you take the time to understand this week. When you apply modern thinking such as Passover being on the 14th or at the end of the 13th, then you get the confusion.

We are not going to prove everything about Passover in this News Letter. We have all of those proofs in our archives section of our web site. We are going to focus on one aspect for this week. Once you understand this then you will know when Wave Sheaf Day is.

This year, Passover happens at the very same time it did in the Days of Joshua so we have a biblical example to follow. I was going ot say clear example but even this one gets muddied and is the excuse Judah uses to justify them keeping Shavuot on Sivan 6.

So let’s look at Passover week for us celebrating the new year February 13, 2021.

Passover begins at Sunset Saturday evening at the end of the 14th. So, this year we will be keeping the Passover meal Saturday night as the 15th begins after Sunset.

Joshua 5:10 While the people of Israel were encamped at Gilgal, they kept the Passover on the fourteenth day of the month in the evening on the plains of Jericho. And the day after the Passover, on that very day, they ate of the produce of the land, unleavened cakes and parched grain. And the manna ceased the day after they ate of the produce of the land. And there was no longer manna for the people of Israel, but they ate of the fruit of the land of Canaan that year. It is this very one verse that Judah uses to justify them keeping the Feast of Shavuot on Sivan 6. And this year of 2019 the exact same Spring Feast days are taking place.
This year the day of the Passover is taking place Friday evening and Saturday day. This is the 15th of the month of Aviv. It is the High Holy Day and the First day of Unleavened Bread. Most you realize that the Feat of Unleavened Bread moves from year to year. It can and does fall on any day of the week in other years. But this year it lands on the Sabbath exactly as it did when Joshua recorded this event in Joshua 5:10.

We are told in Lev 23 that we cannot eat anything until we make this wave Sheaf offering.

Lev 23:14 ‘And you do not eat bread or roasted grain or fresh grain until the same day that you have brought an offering to your Elohim – a law forever throughout your generations in all your dwellings.

And we are also told that they have to make this wave offering on the morrow after the Sabbath during the days of Unleavened Bread.

Lev 23:11  ‘And he shall wave the sheaf before Yehovah, for your acceptance. On the morrow after the Sabbath the priest waves it.
You are being told that Joshua and the Israelite made the wave offering on the 16th of Nisan, the month of Aviv.

So when was Passover?
Judah takes this information and then begins to count the Omer from the 16th of Nisan and they always arrive at Sivan 6 as Shavuot. they say Lev 23:11 is the morrow after the High Sabbath of Passover which takes place on the 15th. Those of you who keep Passover on the 14th should be scratching your heads about now. If not then go back and reread this article because you have missed it.

And they do just as they are told in Lev 23:15

And from the morrow after the Sabbath, from the day that you brought the sheaf of the wave offering, you shall count for yourselves: seven completed Sabbaths.

And if this was all there were for scriptures on this subject they would be correct but then Yehovah says one more thing. Let’s read it all in context.

Lev 23:15‘And from the morrow after the Sabbath, from the day that you brought the sheaf of the wave offering, you shall count for yourselves: seven completed Sabbaths.

And now verse 16.

‘Until the morrow after the seventh Sabbath you count fifty days, then you shall bring a new grain offering to Yehovah.

You are to count 7 Sabbaths and on the morrow after the 7th Sabbath is the day you are to keep for Shavuot.

Sivan 6 can end up on any day of the week in many years. Every once in while it lands on the right time as it does this year.

We have the Jews keeping Passover on the right day, the 15th and the Bible in Joshua 5 shows us it was the 15th because the morrow after is the wave sheaf day and this is the day they no longer had manna to eat but they ate from the produce of the land. But then they make this error and begin to count the omer from the 16th in every year.

Add to this the fact that over time they changed the fall Holy Days by postponing them by one or two days. This is the Hebrew calendar that many of you follow. If this is OK to keep then it is also OK to keep Sunday or Friday as the weekly Sabbath.  If it is wrong to change the Sabbath to other days then it is just as wrong to change the Holy Days to other days by counting wrong or by postponement rules or man-made Takanot & Ma’asim of the Pharisees.

The Takanot & Ma’asim of the Pharisees are the laws that have been added to the Torah by the Sages. And because of these rules, they have fallen away from keeping Shavuot and the Fall Feasts at the proper time. It is because of modern Takanot and Ma’asim that we have the current trouble with determining when the barley has to be Aviv by and now many brethren will keep the Holy Days for this whole year one month later.

Does it matter? After all, they have their heart in the right place. Again I ask this question that I have asked many times now. Why did Yehovah allow 6 Million Jews to be slaughtered in the Holocaust of WW II? I am saying it is because they were not keeping the Holy Days at the proper time.

Why do people think Paul was talking about the laws of God?

Mark 7:8 For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do.

It was the Takanot and Ma’asim that are added to the Torah, that was done to protect the Torah but in fact, causes the brethren to be led away from the truth.

Php 2:12  So that, my beloved, as you always obeyed – not only in my presence, but now much rather in my absence – work out your own deliverance with fear and trembling,

Psa 2:11  Serve Yehovah with fear, And rejoice with trembling.

Now something else for you to consider.

You are to keep the days of Unleavened Bread for 7 days.

Lev 23:6  and on the fifteenth day of the same month is the Feast of Unleavened Bread to Jehovah. You must eat unleavened bread seven days.

When we go back to Exodus we are told some more details. We are told to kill the lamb in the 14th towards the end of the 14th.

Exo 12:5  Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year. You shall take from the sheep or from the goats.

Exo 12:6  And you shall keep it up until the fourteenth day of the same month. And the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening.

Exo 12:7  And they shall take some of the blood and strike on the two side posts and upon the upper door post of the houses in which they shall eat it.

Exo 12:8  And they shall eat the flesh in that night, roasted with fire, and unleavened bread. They shall eat it with bitter herbs.

Exo 12:9  Do not eat of it raw, nor boiled at all with water, but roasted with fire, its head with its legs, and with its inward parts.

Exo 12:10  And you shall not let any of it remain until the morning. And that which remains of it until the morning you shall burn with fire.

Exo 12:11  And you shall eat of it this way, with your loins girded, your sandals on your feet, and your staff in your hand. And you shall eat it in a hurry. It is Jehovah’s Passover.

Exo 12:12  For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the first-born in the land of Egypt, both man and beast. And I will execute judgments against all the gods of Egypt. I am Jehovah.

Exo 12:13  And the blood shall be a sign to you upon the houses where you are. And when I see the blood, I will pass over you. And the plague shall not be upon you for a destruction when I smite in the land of Egypt.

You eat the lamb at the end of the 14th and the start of the 15th. The 15th is the Memorial day.

Exo 12:14  And this day shall be a memorial to you. And you shall keep it as a feast to Jehovah throughout your generations. You shall keep it as a feast by a law forever.

Exo 12:15  You shall eat unleavened bread seven days; even the first day you shall put away leaven out of your houses. For whoever eats leavened bread from the first day until the seventh day, that soul shall be cut off from Israel.

Exo 12:16  And on the first day shall be a holy gathering, and in the seventh day there shall be a holy gathering for you. No manner of work shall be done in them, except that which every man must eat, that only may be done by you.

Exo 12:17  And you shall keep the Feast of Unleavened Bread. For in this same day I have brought your armies out of the land of Egypt. Therefore you shall keep this day in your generations by a law forever.

Exo 12:18  In the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month at evening, you shall eat unleavened bread, until the twenty-first day of the month at evening.

Exo 12:19  Seven days there shall be no leaven found in your houses. For whoever eats that which is leavened, even that soul shall be cut off from the congregation of Israel, among the aliens and among the natives of the land.

Exo 12:20  You shall eat nothing leavened. In all your dwelling-places you shall eat unleavened bread.

Notice that the death angel passed over the homes of the Israelites and struck down the first born of the Egyptians on the 15th. The evening after they had killed the lambs and placed its blood on their doors. Then as they ate the meal the Egyptians died. This was on the 15th.

Then the next morning while it was still dark they left. Again this was on the 15th.

Exo 12:17  And you shall keep the Feast of Unleavened Bread. For in this same day I have brought your armies out of the land of Egypt. Therefore you shall keep this day in your generations by a law forever.

Num 33:3  And they pulled up stakes from Rameses in the first month, on the fifteenth day of the first month. On the next day after the Passover the sons of Israel went out with a high hand in the sight of all the Egyptians.

Num 33:4  For the Egyptians buried all their first-born whom Jehovah had stricken among them. Jehovah also executed judgments upon their gods.

You are to eat the Passover meal with unleavened Bread. NOTE THIS COMMANDMENT. You are to eat unleavened bread with the Passover meal.

Exo 12:8  And they shall eat the flesh in that night, roasted with fire, and unleavened bread. They shall eat it with bitter herbs.

And you are also commanded to eat unleavened Bread for 7 days. Not 8! You are not told to eat unleavened bread for 8 days. Those of you keeping Passover at the start of the 14th and then the 7 days of Unleavened bread need to pay attention to this commandment.

Now going back to Joshua 5 we can now or should now be able to to understand that they ate the Passover meal on the 15th after the sun had set on the 14th when it was the weekly Sabbath. Once the sun set the 1st day of the week began. It was on this 1st day of the week, which was the 15th, that they ate the Passover meal.

You are to eat the Passover meal with unleavened bread. And you are to only eat unleavened bread during these 7 days from the 15th to the 21st.

So Joshua kept the Passover meal Saturday evening. They made the wave sheaf offering the next morning at 9 AM and then they could go and eat the produce of the land.

This year wave sheaf day will be on the 15th of the month of Nisan. Wave Sheaf day must fall during the 7 days of Unleavened Bread not before or after those 7 days of Unleavened Bread.
