The seventh Year Tithe, The Forgiveness of Debts, The Reading of the Law

Joseph F. Dumond

Isa 6:9-12 And He said, Go, and tell this people, You hear indeed, but do not understand; and seeing you see, but do not know. Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their hearts, and turn back, and be healed. Then I said, Lord, how long? And He answered, Until the cities are wasted without inhabitant, and the houses without man, and the land laid waste, a desolation, and until Jehovah has moved men far away, and the desolation in the midst of the land is great.

Shabbat,

May Yahweh Richly Bless your Spiritual Understanding during this Sabbatical Year we are now in and Stretch your borders greatly.

Shalom Brethren,

We have now begun our counting of the omer. What is the counting of the omer? To answer this and to share other articles on this subject I am going to send you to http://www.karaite-korner.org/shavuot.shtml where Nehemia Gordon has an excellent explanation and at the end of this article 5 other related articles so that you may learn how to count and why we count and from where do we start that counting process.

Many try to justify using a Rabbinic teaching for counting the Omer. This is not right and you can learn how to do it correctly from these articles.

The counting of the Omer which most people do not realize is also the annual reminder of where we are in the Jubilee cycle of years.

Just as the Jubilee is the counting to 50 with each seventh year being a Sabbatical year, so is the counting of the omer a count to 50 with each seventh day a weekly Shabbat. Next week, of April 25th on Shabbat will be the 14th day of counting the Omer. This day is also representative of the 14 year in the Jubilee cycle and just as the weekly count is a Sabbath, so the 14th year is also a Sabbatical year. This 14th year is the end of the second Sabbatical cycle. This 14th year began at Aviv on March 27th at evening with the sighting of the moon and March 28th during the day period. We are now in the Shmittah year of release.

And exactly the same way the first day of the week is also the 50th day of the counting to Shavuot, the 50th year is also the first year as we then begin to count out the next Jubilee cycle. There is much confusion about how to count the Jubilee cycle, and it all comes from not knowing how to count the Omer to Shavuot and that it is an annual reminder of the Jubilee cycle.

If you have not already done so you can watch the DVD at Movie: Prophesies in the Jubilees where I explain this and compare the two counting’s and show how they are related.

We are now in the seventh year. We are to tithe to the Levite our first tithe for six years. But we do not know who the Levites are. They were to use that tithe for themselves and the Temple. We do not have a temple. Therefore to tithe to any other this first tithe would be wrong. Today the Jews do not tithe for this very reason.

The second tithe was to be used for ourselves to keep the Feast.

Every third year we were to have a tithe for the poor and the fatherless. That year is now done. We are in the 7th year and we do not harvest, therefore there is no tithe to be given, but you can give gifts to those of your choosing.

Now that we have entered the 2nd Sabbatical year in this the last Jubilee cycle before the return of the Messiah, there is another thing we must keep in mind.

Deuteronomy 15:1-11
1 “At the end of every seven years you shall grant a release of debts. 2 And this is the form of the release: Every creditor who has lent anything to his neighbor shall release it; he shall not require it of his neighbor or his brother, because it is called the Lord’s release. 3 Of a foreigner you may require it; but you shall give up your claim to what is owed by your brother, 4 except when there may be no poor among you; for the Lord will greatly bless you in the land which the Lord your God is giving you to possess as an inheritance– 5 only if you carefully obey the voice of the Lord your God, to observe with care all these commandments which I command you today. 6 For the Lord your God will bless you just as He promised you; you shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow; you shall reign over many nations, but they shall not reign over you. 7 “If there is among you a poor man of your brethren, within any of the gates in your land which the Lord your God is giving you, you shall not harden your heart nor shut your hand from your poor brother, 8 but you shall open your hand wide to him and willingly lend him sufficient for his need, whatever he needs. 9 Beware lest there be a wicked thought in your heart, saying, ‘The seventh year, the year of release, is at hand,’ and your eye be evil against your poor brother and you give him nothing, and he cry out to the Lord against you, and it become sin among you. 10 You shall surely give to him, and your heart should not be grieved when you give to him, because for this thing the Lord your God will bless you in all your works and in all to which you put your hand. 11 For the poor will never cease from the land; therefore I command you, saying, ‘You shall open your hand wide to your brother, to your poor and your needy, in your land.’ 12 “If your brother, a Hebrew man, or a Hebrew woman, is sold to you and serves you six years, then in the seventh year you shall let him go free from you. 13 And when you send him away free from you, you shall not let him go away empty-handed; 14 you shall supply him liberally from your flock, from your threshing floor, and from your winepress. From what the Lord has blessed you with, you shall give to him. 15 You shall remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt, and the Lord your God redeemed you; therefore I command you this thing today. 16 And if it happens that he says to you, ‘I will not go away from you,’ because he loves you and your house, since he prospers with you, 17 then you shall take an awl and thrust it through his ear to the door, and he shall be your servant forever. Also to your female servant you shall do likewise. 18 It shall not seem hard to you when you send him away free from you; for he has been worth a double hired servant in serving you six years. Then the Lord your God will bless you in all that you do.

Matthew 18

1 At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, “Who then is greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” 2 Then Jesus called a little child to Him, set him in the midst of them, 3 and said, “Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven. 4 Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. 5 Whoever receives one little child like this in My name receives Me. 6 “But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to sin, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were drowned in the depth of the sea. 7 Woe to the world because of offenses! For offenses must come, but woe to that man by whom the offense comes! 8 If your hand or foot causes you to sin, cut it off and cast it from you. It is better for you to enter into life lame or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet, to be cast into the everlasting fire. 9 And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you. It is better for you to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes, to be cast into hell fire. 10 “Take heed that you do not despise one of these little ones, for I say to you that in heaven their angels always see the face of My Father who is in heaven. 11 For the Son of Man has come to save that which was lost. 12 What do you think? If a man has a hundred sheep, and one of them goes astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine and go to the mountains to seek the one that is straying? 13 And if he should find it, assuredly, I say to you, he rejoices more over that sheep than over the ninety-nine that did not go astray. 14 Even so it is not the will of your Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones should perish. 15 “Moreover if your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault between you and him alone. If he hears you, you have gained your brother. 16 But if he will not hear, take with you one or two more, that ‘by the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.’ 17 And if he refuses to hear them, tell it to the church. But if he refuses even to hear the church, let him be to you like a heathen and a tax collector. 18 Assuredly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. 19 Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven. 20 For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.” 21 Then Peter came to Him and said, “Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Up to seven times?” 22 Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven. 23 Therefore the kingdom of heaven is like a certain king who wanted to settle accounts with his servants. 24 And when he had begun to settle accounts, one was brought to him who owed him ten thousand talents. 25 But as he was not able to pay, his master commanded that he be sold, with his wife and children and all that he had, and that payment be made. 26 The servant therefore fell down before him, saying, ‘Master, have patience with me, and I will pay you all.’ 27 Then the master of that servant was moved with compassion, released him, and forgave him the debt. 28 But that servant went out and found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred denarii; and he laid hands on him and took him by the throat, saying, ‘Pay me what you owe!’ 29 So his fellow servant fell down at his feet and begged him, saying, ‘Have patience with me, and I will pay you all.’ 30 And he would not, but went and threw him into prison till he should pay the debt. 31 So when his fellow servants saw what had been done, they were very grieved, and came and told their master all that had been done. 32 Then his master, after he had called him, said to him, ‘You wicked servant! I forgave you all that debt because you begged me. 33 Should you not also have had compassion on your fellow servant, just as I had pity on you?’ 34 And his master was angry, and delivered him to the torturers until he should pay all that was due to him. 35 So My heavenly Father also will do to you if each of you, from his heart, does not forgive his brother his trespasses.”

Pentecost and the Jubilee both point to the Spirit of Yahweh dwelling amongst men. 70 X 7 and then the 50th day. We are to forgive those who hurt us or who trespass against us 70 X 7 just as Yahweh does. This is also tied into the laws of cleansing in Leviticus. You are to set the unclean thing apart for 7 days and do as you are instructed for which ever cleansing you are doing, and then on the eighth day it is clean. It is then pure.

Brethren you must each repent from Sin. You, yourselves must stop sinning, which is told to us in 1 John 3:4 Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness.

Sin is the transgression of the law and that law is the Ten Commandments. It also includes the 4th commandment which is to keep Holy the weekly Sabbath, and the Annual Holy Days and the Sabbatical years. You are to stop breaking these laws, and our Father will forgive you the debt that you currently owe Him for breaking these laws. That debt, which is the death penalty, was paid for you by Yeshua our redeemer.

Now if Yeshua has already redeemed you from the penalty of death for your trespasses, why do you not forgive those who have wronged you? Like the man in the parable above, he was forgiven a great debt, and then he went out to ring every penny out of those who owed him anything at all.

Are you that man? Do you still hold on to those hurts done to you by others so many years ago? Do you still hate those who abused you, spoke badly of you, raped you, beat you, or killed your loved ones? What about those who cheated you, and have robbed you? We can go on and on and list thousands of things that people do to each other and cause others pain. You yourself know what it is that has hurt you in the past and you continue to hold on to that grudge because it makes you feel good to do so. Your anger and hate keep you from Yahweh.

We have now just gone through the process of putting sin out of our lives by keeping the days of Unleavened Bread where we remove leaven from our homes which is symbolic of removing sin from our lives. If you have not already done so remove the leaven inside of you and put out all malice and hate from your heart. Forgive those who have wronged you and let it go, never to bring it up again. Once you do this then you can begin the healing process and be pure. But as long as you hang on to the past hurts, you remain tied up in those hurtful feelings.

This is the Sabbatical year. It is the year we are to forgive those who are indebted to us for the wrongs they have been done to us or even financially. We are to forgive them and start a fresh new slate with the commencement of the next first year in the third cycle of Shemittah years, which begin at Aviv 2010.

Read Mathew 18 again if you still want to hate so and so.

One other thing each of you must remember to do this year as we are told in Deuteronomy 31:9-13
9 So Moses wrote this law and delivered it to the priests, the sons of Levi, who bore the ark of the covenant of the Lord, and to all the elders of Israel. 10 And Moses commanded them, saying: “At the end of every seven years, at the appointed time in the year of release, at the Feast of Tabernacles, 11 when all Israel comes to appear before the Lord your God in the place which He chooses, you shall read this law before all Israel in their hearing. 12 Gather the people together, men and women and little ones, and the stranger who is within your gates, that they may hear and that they may learn to fear the Lord your God and carefully observe all the words of this law, 13 and that their children, who have not known it, may hear and learn to fear the Lord your God as long as you live in the land which you cross the Jordan to possess.”

At the Feast this Fall where ever you go please make sure that you read the law out loud so everyone may hear it; Young and old, together at the Feast this year, reading the law. At this time it is my understanding that the law that is read is the entire Book of Deuteronomy.

May Yahweh bless you richly as you obey His law.
Shalom
