An Enema in a Size 12 Steel Toe Boot!

Joseph F. Dumond

Isa 6:9-12 And He said, Go, and tell this people, You hear indeed, but do not understand; and seeing you see, but do not know. Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their hearts, and turn back, and be healed. Then I said, Lord, how long? And He answered, Until the cities are wasted without inhabitant, and the houses without man, and the land laid waste, a desolation, and until Jehovah has moved men far away, and the desolation in the midst of the land is great.

Shabbat Shalom Brethren,

Many of you may want to postpone reading this News Letter until after Shabbat. I regret that I have to say the things I am about to say. But some of you are such dumb asses that you need a holy enema that is coming to you in a size 12 steel toe boot!

It has been an interesting week with the emails and conversations and the things that you have said. It has caused me to think and rethink why I am doing any of this and to come to understand just how frustrated Moses was with the Israelites; not that I am a Moses or anything like him. But frustrated I am indeed.

We read in Exodus 5;

Exo 5:1 And afterwards Mosheh and Aharon went in and said to Pharaoh, “Thus said ???? Elohim of Yisra’?l, ‘Let My people go, so that they keep a festival to Me in the wilderness.’ ” 2 And Pharaoh said, “Who is ????, that I should obey His voice to let Yisra’?l go? I do not know ????, nor am I going to let Yisra’?l go.”

After this Pharaoh made things tougher for the Israelites by taking away the straw that he had provided for the brick making. And then the people reacted as we read further in chapter 5;

Exo 5:14 Also the foremen of the children of Yisra’?l, whom Pharaoh’s slave-drivers had set over them, were beaten and were asked, “Why have you not completed your task in making bricks both yesterday and today, as before?” 15 And the foremen of the children of Yisra’?l came and cried out to Pharaoh, saying, “Why do you treat your servants this way? 16 “There is no straw given to your servants, and they say to us, ‘Make bricks!’ And see, your servants are beaten, but your own people are at fault.” 17 But he said, “You are idle! You are idle! That is why you say, ‘Let us go and slaughter to ????.’ 18 “So now go, work. And straw is not given to you, but deliver the amount of bricks.” 19 And the foremen of the children of Yisra’?l saw that they were in trouble after it was said, “You are not to diminish your daily amount of bricks.” 20 And when they came out from Pharaoh, they met Mosheh and Aharon who stood there to meet them. 21 And they said to them, “Let ???? look on you and judge, because you have made us loathsome in the eyes of Pharaoh and in the eyes of his servants, to give a sword in their hand to kill us.”

Then the confusion on Moses part is what we read next.

Exo 5:22 And Mosheh returned to ???? and said, “????, why have You done evil to this people? Why did You send me? 23 “For ever since I came to Pharaoh to speak in Your Name, he has done evil to this people. And You have not delivered Your people at all.”

After this the Children of Israel witness the horrible events of the 10 plagues. They saw how they were preserved and how Egypt was destroyed and now they are standing at the shores of the Red Sea and revert back to the way they were, full of doubt.

Exo 14:10 And when Pharaoh drew near, the children of Yisra’?l lifted their eyes and saw the Mitsrites coming up after them. And they were greatly afraid, so the children of Yisra’?l cried out to ????. 11 And they said to Mosheh, “Did you take us away to die in the wilderness because there are no graves in Mitsrayim? What is this you have done to us, to bring us up out of Mitsrayim? 12 “Is this not the word that we spoke to you in Mitsrayim, saying, ‘Leave us alone and let us serve the Mitsrites?’ For it would have been better for us to serve the Mitsrites than to die in the wilderness.” 13 And Mosheh said to the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the deliverance of ????, which He does for you today. For the Mitsrites whom you see today, you are never, never to see again. 14 “???? does fight for you, and you keep still.” 15 And ???? said to Mosheh, “Why do you cry to Me? Speak to the children of Yisra’?l, and let them go forward. 16 “And you, lift up your rod, and stretch out your hand over the sea and divide it, and let the children of Yisra’?l go on dry ground through the midst of the sea.

We then read about the Israelites grumbling after they had witnessed the ten plagues and now they had just seen the parting of the Red Sea, but this was not enough they still complained;

Exo 16:2 And all the congregation of the children of Yisra’?l grumbled against Mosheh and Aharon in the wilderness. 3 And the children of Yisra’?l said to them, “If only we had died by the hand of ???? in the land of Mitsrayim, when we sat by the pots of meat and when we ate bread to satisfaction! For you have brought us out into this wilderness to put all this assembly to death with hunger.”

Brethren do you know, do you understand that Yehovah hears your grumblings and your evil words! Yes those things that you say. He hears them all.

Exo 16:11 And ???? spoke to Mosheh, saying, 12 “I have heard the grumblings of the children of Yisra’?l. Speak to them,

And again and again we read about the Israelites fighting against Moses and Aaron;

Exo 17:1 And all the congregation of the children of Yisra’?l set out on their journey from the Wilderness of Sin, according to the command of ????, and camped in Rephid?im. And there was no water for the people to drink. 2 Therefore the people strove with Mosheh, and said, “Give us water to drink.” And Mosheh said to them, “Why do you strive with me? Why do you try ?????” 3 And the people thirsted there for water, and the people grumbled against Mosheh, and said, “Why did you bring us out of Mitsrayim, to kill us and our children and our livestock with thirst?” 4 Then Mosheh cried out to ????, saying, “What am I to do with this people? Yet a little and they shall stone me!”

We then read about the mighty things that happened at Mount Sinai and all of Israel heard the voice of Yehovah. They actually heard Yehovah speak. How awesome and fantastic that would have been. After all of these things we then read about them building a golden calf.

Exo 32:1 And when the people saw that Mosheh was so long in coming down from the mountain, the people gathered together to Aharon, and said to him, “Arise, make us mighty ones who go before us. For this Mosheh, the man who brought us up out of the land of Mitsrayim, we do not know what has become of him.” 2 And Aharon said to them, “Take off the golden earrings which are in the ears of your wives, your sons, and your daughters, and bring them to me.” 3 “And all the people took off the golden earrings which were in their ears, and brought them to Aharon. 4 And he took this from their hand, and he formed it with an engraving tool, and made a moulded calf. And they said, “This is your mighty one, O Yisra’?l, that brought you out of the land of Mitsrayim!” 5 And Aharon saw and built an altar before it. And Aharon called out and said, “Tomorrow is a festival to ????.”

We can go on and on about the number of times the Israelites complained to Moses and how they paid for their rebellion by Yehovah sending them plagues and wars and He destroyed those who stood against Him from amongst the Israelites.

Many of you think you are so righteous now. Many of you consider yourselves god’s gift to the world because you now know about the Sabbath and the Holy Days. Many of you can speak a few words in Hebrew and can even read Hebrew and this makes you now an authority. Many of you know the Messiah had a Jewish name and was called something other than Jesus.

But all of you bring with you the Mixed seed of the truth that you have just learned and the horses excrement that you learned in your former church life which you have just left, and you try to mix the two together and justify your former belief’s with the New Truths you are now learning.

Some of you have been walking this Nazarene walk now for six months, a year, maybe two; and many of you are now authorities in all sorts of things and not afraid to speak out at all. And yet when you do you teach the false lies that you are supposed to have left behind.

Do you not know, do you not care what you were warned was coming is now here. Have you even considered that this may be speaking about you and that you are the one that is falling away? That is falling away from the truth of Torah.

2Th 2:1 As to the coming of our Master ????? Messiah and our gathering together to Him, we ask you, brothers, 2 not to become easily unsettled in mind or troubled, either by spirit or by word or by letter, as if from us, as if the day of ???? has come. 3 Let no one deceive you in any way, because the falling away is to come first, and the man of lawlessness1 is to be revealed, the son of destruction, Footnote: 1Some texts read sin instead of lawlessness. This man might be the same one we read of in the prophecy in Isa. 14:12 – H?l?l (“Heileil”), meaning “the shining one,” the sovereign of Bab?el. 4 who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called Elohim or that is worshipped, so that he sits as Elohim in the Dwelling Place of Elohim, showing himself that he is Elohim.

Paul also warned of this falling away from the truth when he wrote to Timothy;

1Ti 4:1 But the Spirit distinctly says that in latter times some shall fall away from the belief, paying attention to misleading spirits, and teachings of demons, 2 speaking lies in hypocrisy, having been branded on their own conscience, 3 forbidding to marry, saying to abstain from foods which Elohim created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth.

And the prophet Amos –

Amo 8:7 ???? has sworn by the Excellency of Ya?aqob?, “I shall never forget any of their works. 8 “Shall the land not tremble for this, and everyone mourn who dwells in it? And all of it shall swell like the River, heave and subside like the River of Mitsrayim. 9 “And it shall be in that day,” declares the Master ????, “that I shall cause the sun to go down at noon, and shall darken the earth on a day of brightness, 10 and shall turn your festivals into mourning, and all your songs into lamentation, and bring sackcloth on all loins, and baldness on every head, and shall make it like mourning for an only son, and its end like a day of bitterness. 11 “See, days are coming,” declares the Master ????, “that I shall send a hunger in the land, not a hunger for bread, nor a thirst for water, but for hearing the Words of ????. 12 “And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from north to east – they shall diligently search, seeking the Word of ????, but they shall not find it1. Footnote: 1Jer. 5:13, Hos. 8:12, Ezek. 34:3-10. 13 “In that day the pretty maidens and strong young men shall faint from thirst, 14 those swearing by the guilt of Shomeron, who say, ‘As your mighty one lives, O Dan!’ and, ‘As the way of Be’?rsheb?a lives!’ And they shall fall and never rise again.”

So before Messiah’s Second Coming a GREAT APOSTASY or simply put, FALLING AWAY OF FROM THE TRUTH is prophesied to take place. Even though the Israelites saw all the marvelous events before during and after the Exodus they still rebelled; and now even though many of you have seen the truth of the Torah and been so excited to read it and to learn all the marvelous things you have learned you have now turned back to the way you were before you had your exodus from the churches that oppressed you.

I am searching for a right way to say what I am about to say and I am angry about what has gone on. So I am just going to say it, damn the torpedoes and full steam ahead.

You dumb ass, stupid foolish self-righteous, Ephramites, you have learned a little Torah and a few Hebrew words and now you go around condemning everyone else who does not think like you now do. People look at you and they know you’re still a drunkard because they hear your words that you speak and they are slurred. The world you are trying to convert sees your lack of love and concern for others and says I will not join that group because of this imbecile.

You try to convert the Jewish people to become Christians and yet your hypocrisy is all over your face and you are a joke to them. You have no clue what the Torah says at all yet you insist on converting the Jew and this you try to do only after walking this walk for less than a year in some cases. How pathetic how absolutely sad.

This is Christian teaching; a false Christian teaching to convert the Jew. It is the Torah ignorant Christian that needs to be converted to the Torah. Then and only then will you be able to at least talk intelligently to a Torah observant Jew. And now that some of you walk this walk for a year or two or less you now want to convert the Jew? You continue with the false teaching you learned before. Why do you not want to convert the other Christians who do not keep Torah? Why do you not do this first?

You have no clue, none. Do you not know or even understand what the parable about the Prodigal son is? Are you that stupid?

Who is the one that was the dumb ass? IT WAS AND IS YOU; not Judah! You are the one who just last year was praying to the rosary or bowing down to statutes and worshiping all kinds of other gods. It is you who even today say Mother Nature is upset when you have to talk about the severe heat or the floods that you are dealing with. You have no clue that you are insulting Yehovah by giving credit to a god that is not a god but Satan imposing as a god. No clue!!

It was YOU who just a few years ago was keeping Sunday and would not for the life of you consider the Sabbath.

You are that prodigal son; who since you were in the womb of Rachel worshipped the idols of Laban and you still do today. Yet you dare to call our Brother Judah (an) antichrist because they do not believe in Jesus.

You stupid people!!! Have you even considered the examples of those who worship Jesus put forward. They are the same ones Christians have shown our brother Judah ever since the Christians became the state religion of Constantine in 313 C.E.

Those who call Judah an antichrist are the same as those who over the centuries have killed millions of Jews. The exact same people. You words can murder.

You hypocritical Ephramites, you disgust me. You say to our brother Judah they need to convert to following Jesus or now you say Yehshua and then you quote like this one supposedly called brother says who justifies calling Jews antichrists based on the following and I quote what he wrote in his email.

‘That is only based on the fact that scripture does say that:

“he that denies the Son also does not believe the Father. He that confesses the Son confesses also the Father” (1 John 2:23) and “many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist” (2 John 1:7), and of course Yeshua’s own words: “no one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6).’

Yes Judah has seen the ‘Christian love’ throughout all of these centuries.

Because you Ephramites are so thick headed I am going to list them all for you. READ THEM and tell me how this Christian love being shown here is going to help convert the Jew!!!

Pogroms against Jews

A pogrom (Russian: ???????) was a violent riot against Jews, condoned by law enforcement, in the 19th- and early 20th- century in the Russian Empire, characterized by killings and destruction of Jewish homes and properties, businesses, and religious centers. The term has been subsequently been extended to refer to certain similar attacks against Jews in other times and places, and to certain attacks against other ethnic or religious groups. A similar term is “genocidal massacre”.[2][3][4]

Significant pogroms in the Russian Empire included the Odessa pogroms, Warsaw pogrom (1881), Kishinev pogrom (1903), Kiev Pogrom (1905) and the Bia?ystok pogrom (1906). Other anti-Jewish events described as pogroms include the Lwów pogrom (1918), and Kiev Pogroms (1919). The most significant pogrom in Nazi Germany was the Kristallnacht of 1938, in which at least 91 Jews were killed, a further 30,000 arrested and incarcerated in concentration camps,[5] over 1,000 synagogues burned, and over 7,000 Jewish businesses destroyed or damaged.[6][7] Notorious pogroms of World War II included the 1941 Farhud in Iraq, the Ia?i pogrom in Romania – in which over 13,200 Jews were killed – and the Jedwabne pogrom in Poland. Post World War II pogroms included the 1945 Tripoli pogrom, the 1946 Kielce pogrom, and the 1947 Aleppo pogrom.

Roman

Philo witnessed and described the Alexandrian pogroms against Jews in Alexandria in 38 CE.

Medieval

Massive violent attacks against Jews date back at least to the Crusades such as the Pogrom of 1096 in France and Germany (the first “Christian” pogroms to be officially recorded), as well as the massacres of Jews at London and York in 1189–1190.

During the Golden age of Jewish culture in Spain, beginning in the 9th century, Islamic Spain was more tolerant towards Jews.[23] The 11th century, however, saw several Muslim pogroms against Jews; notably those that occurred in Cordoba in 1011 and in Granada in 1066.[24] In the 1066 Granada massacre, the first large pogrom on European soil, a Muslim mob crucified the Jewish vizier Joseph ibn Naghrela and massacred about 4,000 Jews[25] In 1033 about 6,000 Jews were killed in Fez, Morocco by Muslim mobs.[26][27] Mobs in Fez murdered thousands of Jews in 1276,[28] and again, leaving only 11 alive, in 1465.[28][29]

In Europe in 1348, because of the hysteria surrounding the Black Plague, Jews were massacred by Christians in Chillon, Basle, Stuttgart, Ulm, Speyer, Dresden, and Mainz. By 1351, 60 major and 150 smaller Jewish communities had been destroyed.[30] A large number of the surviving Jews fled to Poland, which was very welcoming to Jews at the time.[31]

In 1506, after an episode of famine and bad harvests, an enormous pogrom happened in Lisbon, Portugal,[32] in which more than 500 “New-Christian” (forcibly converted Jews) people were slaughtered and/or burnt by an angry Christian mob, in the first night of what became known as the “Pogrom of Lisbon” or “Lisbon’s great massacre of 1506”.[citation needed] The killing continued for almost a week, almost eliminating the entire Jewish or Jewish-descendant community residing in that city. Even the Portuguese military and the king himself had difficulty stopping it. The event is today remembered with a monument in S. Domingos’ church.

Tens of thousands of Jews were massacred by Cossacks in Ukraine during the Khmelnytsky Uprising of 1648–1657,[33] and thousands more during the Koliyivshchyna in 1768-1769.

19th century

Pogroms against Jews known as the Hep-Hep riots began on August 2, 1819 in WĂŒrzburg, Germany and soon reached as far as regions of Denmark, Poland, Latvia and Bohemia. Many Jews were killed and much Jewish property was destroyed.[34]

The 1821 Odessa pogroms marked the start of the nineteenth century wave of pogroms in the Russian empire, with further pogroms in Odessa in 1859. However, the period 1881-1884 was a peak period, with over 200 anti-Jewish events occurred in the Russian Empire, notably Kiev, Warsaw and Odessa.

There were pogroms too in the nineteenth century in the Arab and Islamic worlds. There was a massacre of Jews in Baghdad in 1828.[35] There was another massacre in Barfurush in 1867.[35] In 1839, in the eastern Persian city of Meshed, a mob burst into the Jewish Quarter, burned the synagogue, and destroyed the Torah scrolls. This is known as the Allahdad incident. It was only by forcible conversion that a massacre was averted.[36]

The Damascus affair occurred in 1840, when an Italian monk and his servant disappeared in Damascus. Immediately following, a charge of ritual murder was brought against a large number of Jews in the city. All were found guilty. The consuls of England, France and Austria as well as Ottoman authorities, Christians, Muslims and Jews all played a great role in this affair.[37]

Early 20th century

Russian Empire

Many pogroms accompanied the post-1917 period of the Russian Civil War: an estimated 70,000 to 250,000 civilian Jews were killed throughout the former Russian Empire; the number of Jewish orphans exceeded 300,000. In his book 200 Years Together, Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn provides these numbers from Nahum Gergel’s 1951 study of the pogroms in Ukraine: out of an estimated 1,236 incidents of anti-Jewish violence, 887 mass pogroms occurred, the remainder being classified as “excesses” not assuming mass proportions. Of the pogroms, about 40% were perpetrated by the Ukrainian forces led by Symon Petliura, 25% by the Ukrainian Green Army and various Ukrainian nationalist gangs, 17% by the White Army, especially the forces of Anton Denikin. A further 8.5% of Gergel’s total figure is attributed to pogroms carried out by men of the Red Army – although these pogroms were not sanctioned by the Red Army leadership, and where Red Army troops had perpetrated pogroms, the Bolshevik high command subsequently disarmed entire regiments and executed individual pogromists to deter further outbreaks.[38][39]

There were exceptions, however, as related by author and future Nobel laureate Ivan Bunin. On May 15, 1919, Bunin wrote in his diary,

“Members of the Red Army in Odessa led a pogrom against the Jews in the town of Big Fountain. Ovsyaniko-Kulikovsky and the writer Kipen happened to be there and told me the details. Fourteen comissars and thirty Jews from among the common people were killed. Many stores were destroyed. The soldiers tore through the night, dragged the victims from their beds, and killed whomever they met. People ran into the steppe or rushed into the sea. They were chased after and fired upon — a genuine hunt, as it were. Kipen saved himself by accident — fortunately he had spent the night not in his home, but at the White Flower sanitorium. At dawn, a detachment of Red Army soldiers appeared ‘Are there any Jews here?’ they asked the watchman. ‘No, no Jews here.’ ‘Swear what you’re saying is true!’ The watchman swore, and they went on farther. Moisei Gutman, a cabby, was killed. He was a dear man who moved us from our dacha last fall.”[40]

Gergel’s overall figures, which are generally considered conservative, are based on the testimony of witnesses and newspaper reports collected by the Mizrakh-yidish historiche arkhiv, which was first based in Kiev, then Berlin and later New York. The English version of Gergel’s article was published in English in 1951 in the YIVO Annual of Jewish Social Science titled “The Pogroms in the Ukraine in 1918-1921″[41]

Outside Russia

Pogroms spread throughout Central and Eastern Europe. Anti-Jewish riots also broke out elsewhere in the world.
In the 1911 Tredegar riot in Wales, Jewish homes and businesses were looted and burned over the period of a week, before the British army was called in by then-Home Secretary Winston Churchill, who described the riot as a “pogrom”.[42]
In the LwĂłw pogrom (1918), 72 Jews were killed and 443 injured by Polish troops, militia and civilians.[43][44][45][46][47]
In the Americas, there was a pogrom in Argentina in 1919, during the Tragic Week[48]
In 1919, pogroms were reported in several cities in Poland.[49]

During the Holocaust

Pogroms were also encouraged by the Nazis, especially early in the war before the larger mass killings began. The first of these pogroms was Kristallnacht in Nazi Germany, often called Pogromnacht, in which at least 91 Jews were killed, a further 30,000 arrested and incarcerated in concentration camps,[5] over 1,000 synagogues burned, and over 7,000 Jewish businesses destroyed or damaged.[6][7]

A number of pogroms occurred during the Holocaust at the hands of non-Germans. Perhaps the deadliest of these Holocaust-era pogroms was the Ia?i pogrom in Romania, in which as many as 13,266 Jews were killed by Romanian citizens, police, and military officials.[50]

On 1–2 June 1941, the two-day Farhud pogrom in Iraq, in which “rioters murdered between 150 and 180 Jews, injured 600 others, and raped an undetermined number of women. They also looted some 1,500 stores and homes”.[51][52]

In the city of Lwow, some Ukrainian police along with occupying Nazis organized two large pogroms in June–July, 1941, in which around 6,000 Jews were murdered,[53] in alleged retribution for the collaboration of some Jews with the Soviet regime and the large number of communists who happened to be of Jewish descent (see The Lviv pogroms controversy (1941)).

In Lithuania, some Lithuanian police led by Algirdas Klimaitis and the Lithuanian partisans — consisting of LAF units reinforced by 3,600 deserters from 29th Lithuanian Territorial Corps of the Red Army[54] engaged in anti-Jewish pogroms in Kaunas along with occupying Nazis. On 25–26 June 1941 about 3,800 Jews were killed and synagogues and Jewish settlements burned.[55]

During the Jedwabne pogrom of July 1941, some non-Jewish Poles burned at least 340 Jews in a barn-house (final findings of the Institute of National Remembrance) in the presence of Nazi German Ordnungspolizei. The role of the German Einsatzgruppe B remains the subject of debate.[56][57][58][59][60][61]

After World War II

After the end of World War II, a series of violent anti-Semitic incidents occurred throughout Europe, particularly in the Soviet-liberated East, where most of the returning Jews came back after liberation by the Allied Powers, and where the Nazi propagandists had extensively promoted the notion of a Jewish-Communist conspiracy (see Anti-Jewish violence in Poland, 1944–1946 and Anti-Jewish violence in Eastern Europe, 1944–1946). Anti-Jewish riots also took place in Britain in 1947.

In the Arab world, there were a number of pogroms which played a key role in the massive emigration from Arab countries to Israel.
Anti-Jewish rioters killed over 140 Jews in the 1945 Tripoli pogrom.
The 1945 Cairo pogrom marked the start of a series of violent acts against Egypt’s Jews.
Half of Aleppo’s 10,000 Jews left the city in the wake of the 1947 Aleppo pogrom.
The 1947 Aden pogrom brought to an end the existence of Aden’s almost two-thousand-year-old Jewish community.
The 1948 Oujda and Jerada pogrom and 1954 Petitjean pogrom were pogroms in Morocco.[62]

The 1991 Crown Heights Riot in Brooklyn, New York has been referred to as a “pogrom” by persons such as Rudy Giuliani[63] and the New York Times columnist A. M. Rosenthal.[64]

Should I even tell you about the Jews in the Maccabean days, who on the Sabbath and also during the Sabbatical years; when the Christians were attacking them, yes they were the pagan Christian faith at that time too, the same false gods were worshiped by the Romans and the Syrian which today Christian now worship; these Jews would not go out to fight on the Sabbath or the Sabbatical years. They would instead go out and proclaim that they would rather die than profane the Sabbath and then hold out their necks to make it easier for the enemy to kill them. And they too were slaughtered.

How many of you dumb ass Ephramites would have done this., How many of you would have endured for weeks or months let alone for years and centuries and thousands of years the persecution that Judah has gone through at the hands of so called Christians? We are about to find out very very soon just how many of you will keep the faith or convert to whatever religion is about to persecute you and even kill you and your family. Then we will see if you believe or not.

Judah is the elder brother in the parable of prodigal son. They have been with the Father the whole time, and paid dearly for keeping the faith, but not you Ephraim, you were out being drunk and whoring around and blowing the blessings that the Father gave you in the first place. And now after coming back to the truth you presume to condemn Judah for not converting to the false religion that you have demonstrated for the past 2700 years? Hypocrites!!!!

Did Yehshua not say;

Mat 15:24 And He answering, said, “I was not sent except to the lost sheep of the house of Yisra’?l.”

Judah is part of the House of Israel but Judah was not lost. Judah knew their Elohim but the ten tribes of Israel were worshiping stones and wood statutes and truly were lost.

We also read in Mat 10:5 ????? sent these twelve out, having commanded them, saying, “Do not go into the way of the gentiles, and do not enter a city of the Shomeronites,
Mat 10:6 but rather go to the lost sheep of the house of Yisra’?l.

The Apostles went to the Lost Tribes. They did not go to Judah.

I am not saying Judah is perfect. No, they too have sins to repent of also. But it is not going to be idol worshiping Ephramites that will perfect Judah.

You want to convert Judah, you want to save the poor Jew? Then shut your evil speaking, lashon hara mouth. Stop that tongue of yours from spreading any more evil. Just plain shut up. Period.

Yehshua said to let your light shine.

Mat 5:14 “You are the light of the world. It is impossible for a city to be hidden on a mountain. 15 “Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it shines to all those in the house. 16 “Let your light so shine before men, so that they see your good works and praise your Father who is in the heavens.

The only time a light is noisy is when it is about to go out. Keep your mouths shut and let everyone see your good fruits, and not hear about what a good person you are. Because you are the only one that thinks your good.

Ephraim, Judah has been through many holocausts. But you are about to begin one that is going to wipe out 90% of you. In a few short years millions upon millions of you will be dead and not buried. You are about to become food for the birds. Instead of calling Judah names and trying to convert them, by your lofty superior intelligence, do you not think you had better get your idol worshiping house cleaned up first? You still bring with you the false Christian ideologies that lead you astray and you mix them in with the truth and cannot even tell the difference. What a shame.

Judah is your brother, give them some room, the same as they give you room in spite of the many offensive things you do on a daily basis.

You know we look at the Edomites and say they have a knife at everyone’s throat; but do we even consider the hypocrisy that we do. We stab each and every one that is professing to keep the faith in the back. We tear down each other and back bite those in leadership and do not build up those who are learning.

I have emails from leaders around the world who are worn out from the fighting going on amongst the brethren. From the brethren attacking them and not studying for themselves. I have one from Asia that came in today.

And like them I wonder why I am even doing this knowing that a number of you will write to condemn me for standing with Judah.

YOU are cursed with a curse and you cannot remove the blemish that is on your face.

This week we are going to study the 3rd Commandment. Those of you who now believe you are the children of Yehovah ought to take special notice.

Exo 20:7 “You do not bring1 the Name of ???? your Elohim to naught, for ???? does not leave the one unpunished who brings His Name to naught. Footnote: 1Or lift up, or take.

Those of you who are suppose to be walking this walk and are now called the children of Elohim will not go unpunished if you are attacking each other and Judah or being a drunk or committing lashon hara speaking with your evil tongue. And I have not even touched on those who are stuffing your faces and weigh far too much or those who still are doing drugs whether legal or not or those who are still having affairs with others or are into reading about affairs or are into gossip and spreading it around or those still into conspiracy teachings. No I have not even touched on the many other stupid things that Ephramites put forward as a religion. Many of you have turned food into your newest religion and others have turned the conspiracy teachings into the religion you are putting forward.

Last week we wrote about Abrahams deep sleep and the terrible darkness that came over him. I am now wondering if that darkness is not because of the brethren who are too busy doing other wrong things to actually have time to let their light shine.

Luk 18:7 “And shall Elohim not do right by all means to His own chosen ones who are crying out day and night to Him, and being patient over them? 8 “I say to you that He shall do right to them speedily. But when the Son of Ad?am comes, shall He find the belief on the earth?”

Will Yehshua find faith on this earth when He returns? Why would he ask such a question? Because it is in doubt.

It is time to grow up and stop acting like 3 years olds. Stop condemning those Jews who keep torah, stop back biting those teaching Torah to Christians, and stop hurting the brethren with your self-righteous conceited ways.

Start to let that light shine so that when Yehshua does come He will find some faith. Abraham asked if Sodom could be saved if He could find 10 righteous. And as you know Sodom was not saved. The Darkness of Satan ruler ship is coming and the question remains will your faith shine fourth or has it already gone out and you are part of that great falling away but do not yet know it.

It is time to get serious about your faith, it is time to grow up.

The Third Commandment

“You do not bring the Name of YHWH your Elohim to naught, for YHWH does not leave the one unpunished who brings His Name to naught.” Exodus 20:7

What is Yehovah saying to us here in this commandment? Oh to express the beauty of this instruction to readers with only printed words. Does your mind immediately go to a picture of a wedding, and a man and woman standing together at a ceremony, they say “I do” and the bride takes the name of her husband with joy and love? The bride is no longer called by the name she was born into, but she is now called by her new name
 her married name
the name she took on the day of her marriage to him.

And when the bride receives letters of communication, or when she is addressed in public or at parties, she is addressed as “Mrs. [insert husband’s name: both first and last]” This is her new identity. When she leaves her home she is wearing her husband’s name. Her actions represent her husband and also her words. She is just as he is.

“And the man said, “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh. This one is called ‘woman,’ because she was taken out of man.”
“For this cause a man shall leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.” Genesis 2:23-24

When a man and a woman are united in a covenant of marriage, they become, “one flesh” (Gen.2:24). And this “one flesh” bears one name. The wife is the beauty of her husband displayed to the world in her visible appearance. She represents her husband in her dress, the way she carries herself, her speech, the way she cares and nurtures others and her own children. She is the jewel in the crown of her husband.

“And now, if you diligently obey My voice, and shall guard My covenant, then you shall be My treasured possession above all the peoples – for all the earth is Mine –“ Exodus 19:5
“for you are a set-apart people to YHWH your Elohim, and YHWH has chosen you to be a people for Himself, a treasure possession above all the peoples who are on the face of the earth.” Deuteronomy 14:2
“And YHWH has caused you to proclaim today to be His people, a treasured possession, as He has spoken to you, and to guard all His commands, so as to set you high above all nations which He has made, for a praise, and for a name, and for esteem, and for you to be a set-apart people to YHWH your Elohim, as He has spoken.” Deuteronomy 26:18-19
“For Yah has chosen Jacob for Himself, Israel for His treasured possession.” Psalm 135:4
“But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a set-apart nation, a people for a possession, that you should proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light,” 1 Peter 2:9

“You shall not take the Name of the LORD your God in vain
”

Do we profess a faith in the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob with our lips, but deny Him in our actions? Do we tell the world, “I said I do and I will,” to God
and then misrepresent our Elohim’s Name in that same world, thereby breaking the third commandment?

To the brethren reading this letter, what would you think, do, and feel if you found your wife outside the home dressed provocatively, perhaps drinking all day in a bar and dancing with other men. Perhaps you heard her gossiping or slandering someone you adored, or perhaps you found out she was having lunch with another man on a consistent basis. Is she representing you and your name properly? Are these things that are seen out in the public for all the world to witness concerning your wife
representing your good name in the way in which you not only revere your own name, but is she representing the name YOU DESIRE to be built up being represented by her?

If not, she has taken your name in vain, or falsely. She is bringing your name to nothing and declaring to onlookers, “I am not married, I am in covenant with no man, I am a possession of no one, and I am available.”

Women may have an advantage in the understanding of this commandment. Women and girls, by nature and upbringing, have some understanding of this truth. Men see this truth from their side
as the one who possesses and covers and gives his name to another. However men need to understand
in this relationship of Covenant with the Almighty Elohim – you are also the bride. Men should think on these things. Are you able to see how your actions in dealing in your businesses, whether you are secretive, or lying, or gambling, or stealing (in time and attention away from your family) – now you are behaving just as the wife in the bar. You see, you have taken the Name of your Elohim in a marriage covenant when you profess to believe in the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Behavior outside the instructions (the Torah of YHWH) of the covenant bring the Name of your Elohim to destruction. You are taking the Name of YHWH in vain.

A man was asked, “what can a wife do to bring your name to desolation?” He replied, “When she displays perpetual anger, meanness, spitefulness.” He said, “my name is supportive and honest.” He plainly defined his name by actions that are accomplished in the physical world by his covenant partner.

He went on to discuss how he had experienced and been the target of possessiveness and the feeling of being used. He worked hard to have a good name and experienced that good name being taken by another and being used to obtain what the spouse desired. He specifically spoke about finances in the form of running up credit card debt and writing bad checks. He spoke of the other person, instead of “building up and improving” his name, the person tore down and brought his name low by her actions.

He spoke as if remembering something painful and asked, “Why would someone want my name if they are going to put me down. What part do they desire in me if they are going to continue to put me down?” This man plainly identified his worth with his name. What do you associate with your name? Would you approve of an impersonator going around the city, proclaiming to be you, then going about engaging in things like lying, stealing, cheating, using very poor language, abusing others, etc? This person is bringing your name to evil in the eyes of the world. So that when the name is heard – the world thinks evil, crookedness, and wickedness.

The name becomes synonymous with the action. The action creates the memory which speaks to people. All a person has is their name. It is the reputation. The name preceeds you. The name becomes the action the person takes who is bearing the name.

Another person once said, “I am afraid if I do not do all the things the Christian church does such as attend church on sun-day, observe Christmas and easter and all the traditional holidays, that people will think I don’t believe.” Do we see how our Elohim and the faith we proclaim has become something that does not represent His Name? How many of you have realized, that by walking out Yehovah’s commandments in truth
is a greater testimony to your faith and His Character than your old walk ever was
just by your actions alone? There is a change in the day of observance for worship, what you do on that day or maybe don’t do, what you eat and don’t eat, how you dress, the days of the year you now consider Holy and how they are different from so many. This is the taking and the bearing of the Name of Yehovah as He prescribed. Any other display of living becomes a false witness and a bringing of His Name to desolation and in vain.

Hebrew Word Study for the Commandment

Take: nasa. Several Hebrew words are translated into the English word “take,” but this one means “lift up,” “bear,” “carry,” “use,” “appropriate.”
Name: shem The Hebrew root denotes something high or elevated, a monument implying majesty or excellence. It is an outstanding mark, sign, or reputation. Thus “name” is a word by which a person, place, or thing is distinctively known. A name identifies, signifies, and specifies.
Vain: shav. The underlying Hebrew word suggests emptiness, futility, and/or falsehood. It implies lacking in reality, value, or truth. Its single-word synonyms—depending upon the context—are “futile,” “worthless,” “profane,” “foolish,” “reproachful,” “curse,” “blaspheme,” “purposeless,” “useless,” “inconsequential,” “unsubstantial,” and “vaporous.”

Guiltless: naqah. This word indicates “free,” “clear,” “innocent,” “clean,” “blameless,” “unpunished.”

What about Reputation?

What about Yehovah’s reputation? Can people look at us as believers and form ideas and thoughts about our God? Of course they do and this is very serious! The reputation of an entity (a person, a group of people, an organization) is an opinion about that entity, typically a result of evaluation on a set of criteria. It is important in education, business, and communities. Reputation may be considered as a component of identity as defined by others. Who, if not believers in the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, have the responsibility of bearing His Name in the earth?

Reputation as a socially transmitted (meta-) belief (i.e., belief about belief) concerns properties of agents, namely their attitudes toward some socially desirable behaviour, be it cooperation, reciprocity, or norm-compliance. Reputation plays a crucial role in the evolution of these behaviours: reputation transmission allows socially desirable behaviour to spread. What about the issue of spreading the Gospel? Do we bear the Name of Yehovah, or do we bear the name of ourselves, our churches, our organizations or denominations, the social club we belong to?

The instruction in the Shema is an example of our taking The Name of Yehovah, which is Himself, into our families and communities. We help Him build His reputation in the world by our performing His commandments.

“And these Words which I am commanding you today shall be in your heart, and you shall impress them upon your children, and shall speak of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise up, and shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. And you shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.” Deuteronomy 6:6-9

As we demonstrate the Torah in truth to the world, we begin to leave an impression of Yehovah and who He is. These impressions that we leave work to form an image in the mind. Do we leave a true image of Yehovah or do we, by our actions, take His Name in vain?

Some bible translations use the word “take” as in “thou shall not take the Name
” and other render the word “bear” and it reads “thou shall not bear the Name in vain.”
In Matthew 10:22 Messiah tells us “And you shall be hated by all for My Name’s sake. But he who shall have endured to the end shall be saved.” Why would the people of the world hate us over a Name? Have you ever wondered about this? A name is just a word
right? Or is it? Could it be that what the world will hate is what we ‘stand for’ or ‘stand against’ as we raise the banner of Yehovah’s Name? There should be many things in this world that we will not go along with as we bear His Name in truth.

And again in Luke 21:12 “But before all this, they shall lay their hands on you and persecute you, delivering you up to the congregations and prisons, and be brought before sovereigns and rulers for My Name’s sake.” These are those who are not going along with the crowd and are “different” as in “set- apart.” It is His Name (His commandments) that sets them apart.

Rev 3:8 “I know your works – see, I have set before you an open door, and no one is able to shut it – that you have little power, yet have guarded My Word, and have not denied My Name.”

Yeshua told Paul that he was to “bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel” (Acts 9:15). Paul says that he labored. Read that and understand. Bearing the Name of our Messiah is not a cake-walk. Wearing His Name takes much work in getting our flesh and sometimes personalities out of the way. Bearing His Name requires a renewing of our minds so that they line up with His. Bearing His Name requires we change our natural desires and continue working and laboring until His desires are our desires. This is the writing of His Word upon our hearts.

Yehovah insists that we bear His name honorably. He chooses mankind to be the vehicle for His divine light, and by obeying His Voice and guarding His covenant, we exude light and wisdom, and draw other nations and people to Him. He reveres His Name and gave us the instruction, “Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord your God in vain,” and strengthens the instructions with a consequence of not guarding it. “For YHWH does not leave the one unpunished who brings His Name to naught.” He makes us set apart by placing upon us His Set apart Name made visible by our actions in the world through our obedience. His Word is His Name.

The world’s view of Yehovah is often shaped by the lifestyles of those who bear His name. We are to live so “that the name of our God and his doctrine be not blasphemed” (1Tim.6:1). Do you ever wonder what first comes to mind when others “think” of you? Even if we talk about Yehovah and our faith a great deal, do we cause others to match up our actions with words like: mercy, grace, love, forgiving, slow to anger, righteousness, compassionate? These are characteristics of our Elohim.

Unfortunately, it sometimes happens that, because of the manner of some believers, the unbelieving hold a low opinion of God. Speaking of the some who were evil, Paul wrote, “the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles through you”Rom.2:24 What a sad commentary upon our guarding the commands. Yet, even those well known for their devotion to God have, by stumbling into a transgression, sometimes brought shame upon the holy name they bore. Sternly rebuking King David, who was crushed with remorse for his sin with Bathsheba, the prophet Nathan said, “by this deed thou hast given great occasion to the enemies of the Lord to blaspheme” (2Sam.12:14). Nathan was not concerned that the Lord’s enemies would blaspheme David for his sin. What disturbed him was, he knew that sinful souls would use David’s sin to defame the God David served. Oh, how it must have grieved David to think of the disgrace he had brought upon the One who had lifted him from the lowly status of shepherd-boy to be King of Israel! David’s heartfelt confession of sin included an acknowledgement that his sin had actually been against God Himself (Ps.51:4), for it was God’s holy name which was brought into disgrace by David’s evil deed.
What more compelling reason could we have for living a holy life than to bring honor to the holy name we bear?

Proverbs 22:1 instructs us about the importance of one’s name: “A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches, loving favor rather than silver and gold.” A person’s name, which holds his reputation, could be considered his most valuable asset. How many times does God say, “For

My name’s sake”?

Isaiah 43:10-12 bears on our responsibility to uphold God’s name:
“You are My witnesses,” says the Lord, “and My servant whom I have chosen, that you may know and believe Me, and understand that I am He. Before Me there was no God formed, nor shall there be after Me. I, even I, am the Lord, and besides Me there is no savior. I have declared and saved, I have proclaimed, and there was no foreign god among you; therefore you are My witnesses,” says the Lord, “that I am God.”
Since we, as sons of God, now bear His name, we witness for God both as an individual, leading our lives, and as a body, living the gospel.
By our conduct, we hallow or profane God’s name. We keep or break the third commandment the same way. This commandment sets the standard for our witness and tests its quality. God’s name is the standard. If we take the name of God and use it in any way that denies its true meaning and God’s character, we are either breaking this commandment or are on the way to doing so.

The apostle John writes in 1 John 3:1-3 “Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called the children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him. Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies Himself, just as He is pure.”

People spend their lives chasing after a name that will bring them a measure of honor or notoriety. They want to be associated with a “name” university, a “name” team, a “name” company; wear clothing with a certain “name” label; drive a “name” automobile; or marry into a certain family “name.” Yet, the greatest name that anyone could possibly bear has come to us when we did nothing to have received it. Thus, John is exhorting his readers to remember their privileges in bearing that awesome name.

Is there a paradox in what John writes? We know that in order to see God, we need to be like Him. Carnally, we think that to be like Him, we need to see Him. God says that seeing Him is not necessary, as He has chosen to conduct His purposes for man through man and his faith in His Word in action. He has revealed what He is by His names and by the life of Yeshua. By faith and guarding the commandments, we can emulate Him through His Spirit.

Malachi 3:16 Gives us a wonderful insight into heaven, and the books that are kept there: “Then those who feared the Lord spoke to one another, and the Lord listened and heard them; so a book of remembrance was written before Him for those who fear the Lord and who meditate on His name.” Meditating on His Name is the same as having His Commandments as frontlets between our eyes, and written on our hands.

Some teach that the third commandment is concerning the use of different names. That unless the name they propose is used, then you are taking His Name in vain. Someone could be using the right name day in and day out in the speech and writings, but if they are angry, mean, spiteful, cheating, abusive, or calls there brother a fool – they have taken Yehovah’s Name and brought it to desolation. They are breaking the third commandment whether or not they have the right name or not. Can we see this?

He who overcomes, I will make him a pillar in the temple of My God, and he shall go out no more. I will write on him the name of My God and the name of the city of My God, the New Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from My God. And I will write on him My new name. Revelation

This commandment has nothing to do with the proper pronunciation of God’s name, which no one knows for certain how to say anyway. It also has nothing to do with superstition or magic. This commandment’s application is much broader, deeper, and more dignified than that.
To know the name of God is to know God as He has revealed Himself, that is, to know His nature. His Name is His Word and Instructions to us on how to conduct our lives. Someone could be using His Name perfectly in speech and then be involved in trespass and sin and bring His Name to naught and be taking His Name if vain.

So next time our child asks us, “what does it mean to take God’s Name in vain?” Let us tell them it is about being true to His commandments, and doing what He tells us to do in His Word. It is about obedience, so that we may reflect His True Image to the world and be a true witness of His Character. Please let us not end it with – “don’t curse or swear” Let us not cheat our children out of the true knowledge and understanding of what this most beautiful commandment means.

Triennial Torah Cycle

We continue this weekend with our regular Triennial Torah Reading

Num 10      Job 26-29      Hebrews 11

Two Silver Trumpets (Numbers 10)

The two silver trumpets (Hebrew chatsotserah) are not to be confused with the more traditional trumpet (Hebrew shofar), an animal’s horn that was also blown on the Feast of Trumpets. The two silver trumpets were used to signal the entire encampment. We can imagine their use as similar to modern army buglers sounding an assembly or charge. The sound must have carried over the heads of the Israelites for miles. The new month and feast days were marked, various assemblies could be called, alarms sounded to move forward, or even to go to war, depending on the signal given, not unlike the system still used on naval vessels today. One trumpet blown (Hebrew teru’ah) a prolonged blowing, called the leaders of Israel to Moses (verse 4).

Eleazar and Ithamar, sons of Aaron, were to blow the two silver trumpets as an ordinance forever (verse 8). Of course, there is no functioning Levitical priesthood today to carry out this ordinance. These trumpets were a type or a picture of the heavenly trumpets that will sound at the return of Christ (1 Thessalonians 4:13-17). During the time of Solomon (whose peaceful kingdom pictured the coming Kingdom of God), the Levites created a beautiful choir and orchestra with an astonishing 120 priests playing trumpets! (2 Chronicles 5:12).

Graves of Lust (Numbers 10)

The second part of chapter 10 sees Israel departing from Mount Sinai in great drama and pageantry—just a month and a half after first setting up the tabernacle. Preparing to leave, Moses appeals to his brother-in-law Hobab to go with them. Hobab declines because he wants to return to his native land and people. But Moses persists, and it appears that Hobab continued with the Israelites (see Judges 1:16).

The people were setting out for the Promised Land with high hopes and expectations. It is interesting to compare this episode with the departure of the Israelites from their great deliverance from Egypt at the Red Sea. Only three days’ journey into the wilderness from that point, the people turned to murmuring against God for lack of water (Exodus 15:22-24). And here, too, it is only three days from leaving Mount Sinai (Numbers 10:33) that the people again turn to complaining (11:1-3).

Job Chapter 26 (26 from Matthew Henry only)

Job 26

This is Job’s short reply to Bildad’s short discourse, in which he is so far from contradicting him that he confirms what he had said, and out-does him in magnifying God and setting forth his power, to show what reason he had still to say, as he did (Job 13:2), “What you know, the same do I know also.” I. He shows that Bildad’s discourse was foreign to the matter he was discoursing of–though very true and good, yet not to the purpose, Job 26:2-4. II. That it was needless to the person he was discoursing with; for he knew it, and believed it, and could speak of it as well as he and better, and could add to the proofs which he had produced of God’s power and greatness, which he does in the rest of his discourse (Job 26:5-15), concluding that, when they had both said what they could, all came short of the merit of the subject and it was still far from being exhausted, Job 26:14.

“Far Be It From Me That I Should Say You Are Right” (Job 27-28)

Job continues with his response, now addressing not just Bildad but all three of his friends (as the “you” in verse 5 is plural).
In verses 2-6, though Job accuses God of denying him justice and dealing him a bitter experience, he takes an oath in God’s name to be completely honest and hold fast to his integrity and innocence. In whatever he himself says, he will not stoop to the level of his friends in their dishonest approach.

In verse 7, Job asks that anyone who would be his enemy (the Hebrew here means “hater”) would be reckoned among the wicked. And there is no way Job is going to act like such a person because, despite Job’s previous statements that things often seem to go well for the wicked, Job knows that there is no guarantee that this will be so—and if things do take a downturn, the wicked cannot expect God to help them (verses 8-10). This shows that Job considered that he himself had a reasonable expectation that God would hear him.

Job’s point here and in the remainder of the chapter is to warn his friends that by treating him as they have been, they are actually joining the ranks of the wicked and can expect the punishment of the wicked—the very thing they have been warning him about. The Expositor’s Bible Commentary notes on verses 11-12: “Job was saying, ‘Must I teach you about God’s power to punish? Indeed, I could never conceal from you a subject on which you have expounded at length.'” Yet he proceeds, in verses 13-23, to remind them of just what lies in store for the wicked—using their own approach against them.

“Where Can Wisdom Be Found?” (Job 27-28)

In the next chapter, Job makes the point that while man is special, distinct from animals, in being able to employ technology to explore the hidden depths of the earth and mining its ores and gems, he can’t find wisdom this way. True wisdom cannot be found through natural exploration (28:1-14). Nor can it be bought (verses 15-19). True wisdom, Job explains, comes only from God (verses 20-23).

God is the only one who knows everything that can be known (compare verse 24). Once again, Job displays some remarkable scientific knowledge—understanding that itself seems to have come from God. Note verses 24-26: “For he looks to the ends of the earth, and sees under the whole heavens, to establish a weight for the wind, and apportion the waters by measure. When he made a law for the rain, and a path for the thunderbolt.” The Signature of God by author Grant Jeffrey states: “In this intriguing statement the Bible reveals that the winds are governed by their weight, a fact that scientists have only determined in the last century. How could Job have known that the air and the wind patterns are governed by their actual weight? Meteorologists have found that the relative weights of the wind and water greatly determine the weather patterns. The passage also reveals a profound appreciation of the fact that there is a scientific connection between lightning, thunder and the triggering of rainfall. Apparently, a slight change in the electrical charge within a cloud is one of the key factors that causes microscopic water droplets in the clouds to join with other droplets until they are heavy enough to fall to earth. In addition, we now know that a powerful electric charge as high as 300 million volts in a cloud sends a leader stroke down through the air to the ground. Instantaneously, only one-fiftieth of a second later, a second more powerful return stroke travels back up to the cloud following the path through the air opened by the leader stroke. The thunder occurs because the air within this channel or path has been vaporized by superheating it to fifty thousand degrees by the lightning. The superheated air expands outward at supersonic speed creating the noise of thunder. Job’s description, ‘He made a law for the rain and a path for the thunderbolt’ (Job 28:26) is startling in its accuracy. No human could have known this in ancient times without the divine revelation of God” (pp. 118-119).

Verse 27 notes that God established His wisdom from creation. And the only way for a person to really come to understand it, as the next verse explains, is to have a proper fear of God and depart from evil (compare Proverbs 1:7; 9:10). It is interesting to consider how God described Job at the beginning of the book: “a blameless and upright man, one who fears God and shuns evil” (Job 1:8). And through Job’s relationship with God, he will ultimately gain the understanding he seeks.

Gone Are the Good Old Days (Job 29-30)

Job continues his speech in chapter 29, longing for the “good old days” when it was clear that God was with him—when things were going well and people highly respected him. In verse 2 we see again that Job has been suffering his present condition for a number of months (compare 7:3).

Chapter 29 shows that Job was a ruler. We earlier saw that he wore a crown (19:9). Now we learn more about his role. He sat as judge (29:7-17), “as chief” and “as a king in the army” (verse 25). The public square adjoining the city gate (verse 7) was the center of town government and commerce. When Job took his seat here, everyone demonstrated great respect for his position. Young men scattered—as it was inappropriate for them to be prominent before him—and the city elders all stood up (verse 8). Princes and nobles demonstrated their respect for him by remaining silent (verses 9-10)—presumably until invited to speak.

Job says the people appreciated his rule (verse 11) because he was a righteous and just ruler who stood up for the little guy—who rescued the vulnerable and helpless from those who sought to take advantage of them or cause them harm (verses 12-17). The citizens valued his counsel (verses 21-23). Some have translated verse 24 as saying, “I laughed at them when they had no confidence [in a kindly, encouraging way perhaps], and the light of my countenance they did not cast down” (see Expositor’s Bible Commentary, footnote on verse 24). Others see the word translated here as laughed or mocked as meaning smiled (see the NIV for example). Yet the same word occurs just two verses later in 30:1, where it clearly means laugh or mock.

Regarding verse 25, Expositor’s states: “The last line of this verse [‘as one who comforts mourners’] is awkward [in context] as currently translated, but there is no need to drop the line as NEB [the New English Bible] does nor to emend the text. Not a single consonant or word needs to be changed. Only a change in the vowels of the last two words creates the line…’as I conducted them they were led'” (footnote on verse 25). Recall that in the original Hebrew, there were no vowels, only consonants.

Chapter 30 snaps back to the grim hear and now. Rather than respect, Job now receives contempt even from those viewed as the lowlife of that society, the sons of outcast ruffians (verses 1-11). “To demonstrate the unfairness of God Job takes each of the themes he introduced in chap. 29 and contrasts his past and present state. Now [in chapter 30] Job is mocked by young and old (vv. 1-8) and verbally attacked (vv. 9-15). Now there is no blessing from God, but only suffering (vv. 16-17) and affliction (vv. 18-19), however urgently Job pleads (vv. 20-23). Perhaps worst of all, there is no compassion for one who constantly showed his compassion for others (vv. 24-31). No matter how great Job’s suffering, there is no relief” (Lawrence Richards, The Bible Reader’s Companion, 1991, note on chap. 30)

Hebrews Chapter 11

Hebrews Chapter 11 is a wonderful chapter written on what real faith looks like. The Apostle Paul runs through a list of who’s who among the ancestors and speaks of their demonstrations of their great faith. Some translations use the word belief. As we read through this chapter we should take note, that belief or faith is not in the mind
it is in the action. Notice that following each of the names, there is a great act of faith taken by the person which provides evidence of that great faith. Had they only believed and not acted – we would have never heard of them as we do.

Faith is the substance of what is expected. This means actions are taken by mankind in the visible physical word so that that faith is literally translated into something in reality. Faith is taking what is believed in the invisible, and giving life to that in the visible. Faith (something not of substance) becomes something with substance and it is based upon an expectation. See, the proof of what is not seen. The following are the witnesses of faith:
Abel offered a greater slaughter than Cain.
Enoch walked with God and was translated to God.
Noah prepared the ark and saved his family.
Abraham obeyed God, left his home and sojourned in a foreign land.
Sarah conceived seed of promise.

Abraham offered up his only brought forth son to God
Isaac blessed his sons Jacob and Esau with a profession of the faith of what had been promised
On that same faith in the promises, Jacob blessed all his sons, even the sons of Joseph (verifying for all the truth of adoption and inheritance!)
Joseph prophesied of the expectation of the children of Israel being delivered from Egypt by instruction concerning his bones.
Moses was hidden by the faith of his parents to preserve his life
Moses chose Israel over Egypt, knowing the one was trial and the other ease. He chose the trial for the purpose of the future blessing even without knowing all the promises in detail that God held for those who love Him.
The children of Israel delivered their firstborns out of the hands of the Messenger of Death by their faith to perform the Passover.
Israel passed through the Red Sea
Jericho came down by the obedience to the instructions of Yehovah
Rahab saved her life, her family, and became ancestor to the promised Messiah by her obedience

All these and more exude tremendous faith – physical action based upon a belief of the invisible Elohim. They heard His Voice and obeyed. They went to the grave without having experienced the promises that Messiah brought through His Renewed Covenant promised ratified in His Blood and not the blood of sheep and goats. But their great faith in Elohim provided for them to stay the course and on the path, no matter all the hardships endured. The saw the promises from afar off and believed upon them.
