A Flaming Bag of Dog Turd

Joseph F. Dumond

Isa 6:9-12 And He said, Go, and tell this people, You hear indeed, but do not understand; and seeing you see, but do not know. Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their hearts, and turn back, and be healed. Then I said, Lord, how long? And He answered, Until the cities are wasted without inhabitant, and the houses without man, and the land laid waste, a desolation, and until Jehovah has moved men far away, and the desolation in the midst of the land is great.

“Four in 10 people that we have been seeing are new to the charitable food system… we’ve talked to folks throughout our network and the number one thing that we hear is, because of job loss and cuts to working hours, that people are needing food now for the very first time.”

A Flaming Bag of Dog Turd

In recent months I have been asked to judge and condemn a certain situation that has taken place in the Philippines. Because of our close association with Brother Aike and MLTC, I was told I was guilty by association. That Brother Aike was guilty by not condemning this situation.

At first, I dismissed it because it was not in my sphere of responsibility. It was a Philippines problem and I was not there to judge it. I did not have all the facts, but only bits and pieces from what others were telling me. I was trying to stay out of it.

But then more and more people began to talk. In spite of my telling them to stop this Lashon Hara, they would continue to talk with others and form judgments about Aike and myself and all those involved.

Jas 3:1  My brothers, do not be many teachers, knowing that we shall receive the greater condemnation.

Jas 3:2  For in many things we all offend. If anyone does not offend in word, the same is a full-grown man, able also to bridle the whole body.

Jas 3:3  Behold, we put bits in the horses’ mouths, so that they may obey us, and we turn about their whole body.

Jas 3:4  Behold also the ships being so great, and driven by fierce winds, yet they are turned about with a very small rudder, where the impulse of him steering desires.

Jas 3:5  Even so the tongue is a little member and boasts great things. Behold how little a fire kindles how large a forest!

Jas 3:6  And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity. So the tongue is set among our members, spotting all the body and inflaming the course of nature, and being inflamed by hell.

Jas 3:7  For every kind of animals, and of birds, and of reptiles, and of sea-animals, is tamed, and has been tamed by mankind.

Jas 3:8  But no one can tame the tongue, it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.

Jas 3:9  By this we bless God, even the Father. And by this we curse men, who have come into being according to the image of God.

Jas 3:10  Out of the same mouth proceeds blessing and cursing. My brothers, these things ought not to be so.

Jas 3:11  Does a fountain send forth at the same hole the sweet and the bitter?

Jas 3:12  Can the fig tree, my brothers, bear olive berries; or a vine, figs? So no fountain can yield both salt water and fresh.

Many people only apply scriptures when it suits them. The moment they are confronted with their own sins their eyes go blind and they can only see the sins of others.

All of us have screwed up and sinned. Some have done horrendous things in our past. Some not so bad. But how would you like to have your sin singled out and advertised not just across your town, and not just across your nation, though that would be bad enough, but to have your sin singled out to be the fodder of the entire world? To be laughed at and made sport of by everyone else out there. You would have no place to hide and no time to make it right.

How many of you have slept with many other people? How many of you have slept men with men and women with women? How many of you have had abortions? How many of you have been so drunk, or driven while drunk and killed someone? How many of you are divorced or separated? How many of you have thought or think you have done the unpardonable sin?

Forgive me. I should not be asking these questions of you. You all are now Torah Keepers and you now have the right to point the fingers and condemn to hell the rest of the world. You who were forgiven so much by Yehovah. Have you forgotten how much He has wiped from HIs memory of just how evil you were, or are still?

The Parable of the Unforgiving Servant

Mat 18:21  Then Peter came to Him and said, Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me and I forgive him? Until seven times?

Mat 18:22  Jesus said to him, I do not say to you, Until seven times; but, Until seventy times seven.

Mat 18:23  Therefore the kingdom of Heaven has been compared to a certain king who desired to make an accounting with his servants.

Mat 18:24  And when he had begun to count, one was brought to him who owed him ten thousand talents.

Mat 18:25  But as he had nothing to pay, his lord commanded that he, and his wife and children, and all that he had, be sold, and payment be made.

Mat 18:26  Then the servant fell down and worshiped him, saying, Lord, have patience with me and I will pay you all.

Mat 18:27  Then the lord of that servant was moved with compassion and released him and forgave him the debt.

Mat 18:28  But the same servant went out and found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred denarii. And he laid hands on him and took him by the throat, saying, Pay me what you owe.

Mat 18:29  And his fellow servant fell down at his feet and begged him, saying, Have patience with me and I will pay you all.

Mat 18:30  And he would not, but went and cast him into prison until he should pay the debt.

Mat 18:31  So when his fellow servants saw what was done, they were very sorry. And they came and told their lord all that was done.

Mat 18:32  Then his lord, after he had called him, said to him, O wicked servant, I forgave you all that debt because you begged me.

Mat 18:33  Should you not also have pitied your fellow servant, even as I had pity on you?

Mat 18:34  And his lord was angry, and delivered him to the tormentors until he should pay all that was due to him.

Mat 18:35  So likewise shall My heavenly Father do also to you, unless each one of you from your hearts forgive his brother their trespasses.

You have been forgiven so much why do you go around and accuse the brethren of the things they are entrapped in? When people do this I have to ask who do they work for, Yehovah or Satan?

Rev 12:10  And I heard a great voice saying in Heaven, Now has come the salvation and power and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of His Christ. For the accuser of our brothers is cast down, who accused them before our God day and night.

There is this thing that some teens do. They fill a bag with dog poop, light it on fire, toss it on the front porch of a home and ring the doorbell of a homeowner. He sees the fire and immediately starts to stamp it out before the house catches on fire. As he does this heroic act to save his home he gets hot dog poop all over his porch and shoes or feet and may even run back inside the house in his excitement spreading the stink everywhere he goes.

If I sound perturbed then you may be right. I did not want to talk about this subject. I have tried to avoid this subject as best I can in the past. But now that this flaming bag of dog turd has been thrown on my front porch, I have no choice but to go out and stomp the flames down or risk them setting the porch and the house on fire. Such is the power of the tongue.

Now let me tell you what is going on. I had to call Brother Aike and ask him what was going on. The rumors I heard were disturbing and we have people threatening to stop supporting this work and to tell others to stop doing so as well. I wanted just the facts and not all the hearsay. But it had to be shared as well. The rumors about Aike and others in MLTC were not true and not even close to being true. So I was glad to learn that and not be left with a very bad taste in my mouth.

At Sukkot 2020, a man new to Torah was attending with MLTC in the Philippines. His marriage was rocky from what I understand. I do not know for sure. He was not any one of the elders. He and much of his extended family were helping Brother Aike build the Torah Center there, of which Sightedmoon.com has been sponsoring.

The man’s daughter has a best friend who just broke up with her boyfriend. She is 19. She seeks advice from the father about her relationship. She also is new to Torah and attending at Sukkot. In counselling, they became close to each other and as the rain began they went into a nearby fan. The young girl became pregnant by this married man.

Right now many of you are getting out the rope to hang this 40 something man for having sex with this 19-year-old. On what grounds?

Let’s now go to the Torah and see what Yehovah says. If you do not like it then you have to take it up with Yehovah. But you are supposed to be an Ambassador to the Kingdom, and do you not know the laws of our Kingdom?

Let me quote an article by Katie McCoy about rape which is what some of you are thinking. But this 19-year-old was not raped. It was consensual. She did not scream for help and she was not betrothed to another man. So if you are going to judge, then you had better have all the facts and then you had better know what Yehovah says.

Never before has the issue of sexual assault against women seemed so ubiquitous. In January a Nashville jury convicted two Vanderbilt University students of aggravated rape and aggravated sexual battery when they assaulted a student in a dorm room in 2013. Amid widespread campus sexual assault, 80 percent of which goes unreported, many hope this strong ruling will communicate to other victims of rape that they, too, will be heard. The case is just one of many instances of on-campus sexual assault, some of which have gone unaddressed, despite being reported. And sexual violence on college campuses is not the only mainstream news story concerning rape. Last fall witnessed the staggering number of allegations of sexual assault committed by comedian and household name, Bill Cosby. According to these women, their assaults have been kept quiet for the better part of a lifetime. From college sophomores to senior adults, women are speaking out and seeking justice.

The Bible is not silent about rape. The accounts of sexual assault against women are heartbreaking, even gruesome. But they are not brushed under a rug or hushed up. In fact, of the three accounts describing a woman who was sexually assaulted, each of them precipitated civil war. When Jacob’s daughter, Dinah, was violated by the son of a neighboring ruler, Shechem, her brothers murdered him, his father, and the all of the men of his city in revenge (Gen. 34). After the Unnamed Concubine was gang-raped and left for dead by men in the tribe of Benjamin, the other tribes went to war against them upon hearing of her injustice (Jgs. 19-21). And after Tamar was raped by her half-brother, Amnon, her brother Absalom killed him, and incited a rebellion against his father, King David (2 Sam. 13). Rape was neither covered up nor ignored. Instead, it was answered and avenged. It was such a cultural convulsion that it was answered with outrage and further violence. The cases of rape in Scripture tell us something about the cases of rape we are hearing today: These women must be heard and they must be protected.

The Old Testament Law gives us an even greater picture of just how much God takes up the cause of the victim and the vulnerable. There is one passage in particular, Deuteronomy 22:23-29, that safeguarded women who had been violated. Like all of the legal codes, these laws reveal the heart and character of God.

Deuteronomy 22:23-24

“If there is a girl who is a virgin engaged to a man, and another man finds her in the city and lies with her, then you shall bring them both out to the gate of that city and you shall stone them to death; the girl, because she did not cry out in the city, and the man, because he has violated his neighbor’s wife. Thus you shall purge the evil from among you.”

Compared to the other scenarios in this passage, these verses describe a consensual encounter. This law does not use terms like “seize” or “force,” but simply “finds” (matsa’). The significant thing in this verse is the surroundings it defines. Since it is described as happening in city, it implies that there were people nearby who could have helped her had she cried out. Since she didn’t, the implication is that she did not resist, and, therefore, she is also responsible. Because she was betrothed to another man, she was already considered his wife, making this equivalent to adultery (Deut. 22:22).

Deuteronomy 22:25-27

“But if in the field the man finds the girl who is engaged, and the man forces her and lies with her, then only the man who lies with her shall die. But you shall do nothing to the girl; there is no sin in the girl worthy of death, for just as a man rises against his neighbor and murders him, so is this case. When he found her in the field, the engaged girl cried out, but there was no one to save her.”

I was stunned when I first read this passage! Not only did the rapist receive the death penalty, but the woman was protected from all recourse. She was neither shamed nor shunned. The word used for “force” (chazaq) in this verse is rather specific, especially since it isn’t used in either of the other two laws. It means to take or keep hold of, specifically to seize with violence. The location is significant here also. Unlike the first scenario in which the woman was within earshot of help, this woman was caught in a secluded place, alone and defenseless. She cried out for help but was overpowered, “but there was no one to save her.” God defends her innocence and ensures both her protection and her reputation. He shielded her from blame for the assault and shame after it occurred.

Deuteronomy 22:28-29

“If a man finds a girl who is a virgin, who is not engaged, and seizes her and lies with her and they are discovered, then the man who lay with her shall give to the girl’s father fifty shekels of silver, and she shall become his wife because he has violated her; he cannot divorce her all his days.”

The implications of this law are more subtle, but equally significant. This verse does not use the word for “force” (chazaqtaphas), which can also mean to lay hold of or wield. Its other uses have the idea of capturing or overwhelming (2 Kings 14:13). Unlike the other two scenarios, this one concerns an unengaged virgin and does not specify where the violation took place. Also, there’s another detail in this law that is quite telling. The verse uses the phrase “they are discovered.” The language moves from an individual man and an individual woman to a “they.” (Hang with me, here.) Coupled with the fact that this verse does not use the same verb for “force,” I believe this law describes something other than a violent rape. Was she overwhelmed? Yes. Did this dishonor her? Unquestionably. Is the man responsible for violating her? Absolutely.

But the Holy Spirit inspired a different word in verses 28-29 than the verb used in verses 25-27 and He did it intentionally (2 Tim. 3:16-17, 2 Pet. 1:19-21). The detail that they are discovered together implies some level of mutual responsibility that is different from what we see in verses 25-27 (If you’ve season one of Downton Abbey, think Mary Crawley and the Turkish diplomat). The man is held accountable and must marry (and provide for) the woman. Plus, he can never divorce her for the rest of his life. Exodus 22:16-17 describes a similar scenario, where a young woman is “seduced,” and adds that the father can refuse to give his consent to the marriage. But the man still had to pay the price of a dowry, which means he was out the money set aside for a bride, and he still had no wife. Notice that there was no punishment for the girl. For the young woman who was seduced, there is no indication that she was ostracized from her community or shunned by her family. Instead, she was vindicated and her honor was restored. What does this mean? He couldn’t use her and lose her. A man couldn’t take a woman as an object of pleasure and then bear no responsibility for her. God was protecting the woman in this situation from being left without protection and provision. Women were not to be used and discarded.

An assault against Eden

Some look at these laws and claim that the Bible permits, even legalizes sexual assault; therefore, the Bible is oppressive to women. Yet, in each of these scenarios, the victim is protected and the violator is punished. Where the woman was not at fault, she never received blame. If fact, she was vindicated. None of these situations were supposed to happen. God never intended for women to be violated and He certainly doesn’t turn a blind eye to it. These laws restrained human sinfulness and set God’s people apart from their surrounding cultures. But even more, they reveal the nature and character of a God who protects the victim, provides for the vulnerable, and sides with the violated. God is decidedly pro-women.

The atrocity of rape is a disordered exploitation of all that God designed when He created male and female (2:18-25). From the very beginning, He intended for women to be protected and valued. Whether she is a college sophomore at an Ivy League University, a 14-year-old Nigerian abducted by Boko Haram, or a 65-year-old woman finding the courage to break her silence, an assault against Eve is an assault against Eden. And, one day, every wrong committed against her daughters will be righted by a justice-keeping God.

So how do you judge this case now? Have the insatiable tongues been quenched? Was Mary Magedelin stoned for her adultery in which she was caught in the very act of doing. Yet the man was not brought before Yehshua to be judged.

Joh 8:2  And early in the morning He came again into the temple, and all the people came to Him. And He sat down and taught them.

Joh 8:3  And the scribes and Pharisees brought to Him a woman taken in adultery. And standing her in the midst,

Joh 8:4  they said to Him, Teacher, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act.

Joh 8:5  Now Moses in the Law commanded us that such should be stoned. You, then, what do you say?

Joh 8:6  They said this, tempting Him so that they might have reason to accuse Him. But bending down, Jesus wrote on the ground with His finger, not appearing to hear.

Joh 8:7  But as they continued to ask Him, He lifted Himself up and said to them, He who is without sin among you, let him cast the first stone at her.

Joh 8:8  And again bending down, He wrote on the ground.

Joh 8:9  And hearing, and being convicted by conscience, they went out one by one, beginning at the oldest, until the last. And Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.

Joh 8:10  And bending back up, and seeing no one but the woman, Jesus said to her, Woman, where are the ones who accused you? Did not one give judgment against you?

Joh 8:11  And she said, No one, Lord. And Jesus said to her, Neither do I give judgment. Go, and sin no more.

According to the law of Moses, this man did not commit adultery. Nor did this man rape this 19-year-old. According to all, I have heard it was consensual.

This flaming bag of dog turd does not end there. No, this Payton Place of the tongue has more twists and turns to sort out.

There was talk, again talk because I do not have all the facts. There was talk the man and his original wife were separated. I do not know nor do I care, but we are going to stomp on this bag of crap until it is completely out.

Are you who want to judge aware that in the Philippines it is against the law to get a divorce?

The following is a Feb. 2020 article about getting divorced in the Philippines.

Even by the standards of former Spanish colonies, the Philippines has extremely socially conservative laws. It is the only country in world, bar the Vatican City, to outlaw divorce (except for Muslims). The only way of ending a marriage, short of dying, is to have it annulled, but that can be done only on narrow grounds and at great expense. Abortion is illegal, too, and anyone undergoing or performing one risks up to six years in prison. Contraceptives, although not banned, are the subject of fierce legal battles, as opponents try to prevent the state from distributing them.

If you and your spouse live in the Philippines you cannot get divorced. So what many people who once loved each other and who now hate each other do, is to separate. And this brings us to the very subject we were discussing in our Torah portion last Sabbath.

Mat 19:3  And the Pharisees came to Him, tempting Him and saying to Him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for every cause?

Mat 19:4  And He answered and said to them, Have you not read that He who made them at the beginning “made them male and female”,

Mat 19:5  and said, For this cause a man shall leave father and mother and shall cling to his wife, and the two of them shall be one flesh?

Mat 19:6  Therefore they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate.

Mat 19:7  They said to Him, Why did Moses then command to give a bill of divorce and to put her away?

Mat 19:8  He said to them, Because of your hard-heartedness Moses allowed you to put away your wives; but from the beginning it was not so.

Mat 19:9  And I say to you, Whoever shall put away his wife, except for fornication, and shall marry another, commits adultery; and whoever marries her who is put away commits adultery.

Lets us focus on the words in verse 9. The English word “Put away” is;

G630   (Thayer)
ἀπολύω

apoluō

Thayer Definition:

1) to set free

2) to let go, dismiss, (to detain no longer)

2a) a petitioner to whom liberty to depart is given by a decisive answer

2b) to bid depart, send away

3) to let go free, release

3a) a captive, i.e. to loose his bonds and bid him depart, to give him liberty to depart

3b) to acquit one accused of a crime and set him at liberty

3c) indulgently to grant a prisoner leave to depart

3d) to release a debtor, i.e. not to press one’s claim against him, to remit his debt

4) used of divorce, to dismiss from the house, to repudiate. The wife of a Greek or Roman may divorce her husband.

5) to send one’s self away, to depart

Now let us understand this from the Torah. Apoluo in Greek is in Hebrew Shalach.

To Which Situation Did God Say, “I Hate Putting Away (Divorce)?”

We have heard this Scripture: “the Lord God of Israel says that HE HATES DIVORCE” (Malachi 2:16). This is almost always quoted as if God hates all divorces in general. But that’s just not true. We have previously read from the Bible books of Ezra, Nehemiah, Jeremiah, Deuteronomy and 1Corinthians that God is not against divorce. Then why all the confusion concerning why God said that “He hates divorce?” The reason for the confusion is because there are TWO “kinds” of marriages and TWO “divorces” being mentioned in the Malachi 2:11-16 passage.

The “divorces” were not official divorces; they didn’t need to be. They were already previously married and “unofficially” married again. The Hebrew word shalach means “putting away”― a separation, as correctly translated in most Bibles. However, the King James and a number of newer versions have incorrectly translated shalach as to mean: divorce. It never meant divorce and it doesn’t mean divorce. The word was most likely translated as “divorce” to fit what was taught in the church. Shalach is just a common word used throughout the Old Testament which means to: go, separate or to send. That’s it!

So why did God angrily say that He “…hated putting away [a separation]?” “…Because you have not kept My ways [concerning marriage, divorce and remarriage] but have SHOWN PARTIALITY IN THE LAW” (Malachi 2:9). The Law specifically stated that when a man got a divorce from his wife that he was to write “…her a CERTIFICATE OF DIVORCE, put it in her hand, AND [shalach] send her out [put her away]…” (Deuteronomy 24:1). God also commanded them not to marry anyone who did not serve him ― who served a foreign god (See Nehemiah 13:25-30).

Instead, men separated from their wives without ever giving them a Certificate of Divorce and then illegally married someone else. This is why the Lord said that they were still “their wife by covenant.” The marriage covenant had never been dissolved by the Divorce Certificate.

“The Lord’s holy institution which He loves…the Lord has been witness between you and the wife of your youth …[and] SHE [STILL] IS YOUR COMPANION AND YOUR WIFE BY COVENANT. For the Lord God of Israel says that He hates divorce [shalach], [separating without a Certificate of Divorce]…. He has [illegally] married the daughter of a foreign god. May the Lord cut off …the man who does this being awake and aware” (Malachi 2:11,12a,14b,c,16a).

Because these men had remarried illegally ― separated from their wives without giving them a Certificate of Divorce, they were in adultery as Jesus stated: “Furthermore it has been said, “Whoever PUTS AWAY [separates from {apoluo}] his wife, LET HIM GIVE HER A CERTIFICATE OF DIVORCE. But I say to you that whoever PUTS AWAY[separates and remarries without being divorced from] his wife for any reason except sexual immorality causes her to commit adultery: and whoever marries a woman who is PUT AWAY [separated without being divorced {apoluo}] commits adultery” (Matthew 5:31-32). (The Lord never forgot about the Malachi incident when He came to earth to redeem lost man).

The Old Testament Hebrew word shalach and the New Testament Greek word apoluoare equivalent which will be discussed later.

Because these disobedient men still had “un-divorced” wives, the Lord did not command them to give their illegal wives a Certificate of Divorce, rather, they simply had to “separate, put them away, [shalach].” SO DID GOD HATE DIVORCE? NO! RATHER, GOD HATED THAT THE HUSBANDS WERE SEPARATING FROM THEIR WIVES WITHOUT GIVING THEM A CERTIFICATE OF DIVORCE WHICH WOULD ENABLE THEM TO GET REMARRIED. THIS IS WHAT GOD HATES!

The men of Israel were SEPARATING from their wives for self-gratifying reasons. God Himself was a “witness” at their original marriage ceremony which was still in effect. The marriage covenant was never dissolved by a Certificate of Divorce. The men remarried outside their own culture (race) and tribe. God considered the children they bore unholy because of the mixed marriages bringing curses into their families (See Ezra 9:1,2, Nehemiah 13:26-30).

Because of these unauthorized marriages, the Word of God came to Ezra and Nehemiah to have the men and women of Israel who had done this thing, to separate from their spouse and even from their children (See Ezra 9:1, 11-12, 10:3, Nehemiah 13:23-27). In this situation, God’s command was to “put them away, separate yourselves from them!” This was NOT the kind of marriage to which God was saying, “I hate divorce!” He was saying loudly, “Get out of these wrong marriages!”

DIVORCE IS A METHOD TO SEPARATE THE ONE, AND MAKE THEM INTO TWO just as a surgeon’s knife is used to separate the cancerous flesh from the healthy flesh. Both operations are good. Divorce can be used to kill a righteous marriage, just as a surgeon’s knife can be used to kill a healthy person.

The Greek word apoluo: is the equivalent of the Hebrew word: shalach.

In this case, we are stomping on from the Philippines, it does not matter if the man is separated from his wife. Because in the Torah Yehovah does not condemn having more than one wife. And this is where we start to get into the whole fiasco going on here because this man could take this 19-year-old girl as his second wife, whether or not he is divorced from the first wife. And that is what he is doing in order to make right the wrong he did, by having sex with her and getting her pregnant. This way the 19-year-old has a husband and the child will have a father to raise it.

Let me now share what I wrote a few years ago.

In 2017 I wrote the following article on Polygamy.

Amongst the Hebrew roots groups are people who have been using the bible to justify their position to have multiple wives.
Abraham, Jacob, David, Solomon, and others.

Yehovah even said to David, after he sinned with Bathsheba that He would have given David more. That is the argument of those pushing for polygamy use.

So let us now look at the scriptures and see just what they do say.

2 Samuel 12:1 Then the Lord sent Nathan to David. And he came to him, and said to him: “There were two men in one city, one rich and the other poor. The rich man had exceedingly many flocks and herds. But the poor man had nothing, except one little ewe lamb which he had bought and nourished; and it grew up together with him and with his children. It ate of his own food and drank from his own cup and lay in his bosom; and it was like a daughter to him. And a traveler came to the rich man, who refused to take from his own flock and from his own herd to prepare one for the wayfaring man who had come to him; but he took the poor man’s lamb and prepared it for the man who had come to him.”
So David’s anger was greatly aroused against the man, and he said to Nathan, “As the Lord lives, the man who has done this shall surely die! And he shall restore fourfold for the lamb, because he did this thing and because he had no pity.”
Then Nathan said to David, “You are the man! Thus says the Lord God of Israel: ‘I anointed you king over Israel, and I delivered you from the hand of Saul. I gave you your master’s house and your master’s wives into your keeping, and gave you the house of Israel and Judah. And if that had been too little, I also would have given you much more! Why have you despised the commandment of the Lord, to do evil in His sight? You have killed Uriah the Hittite with the sword; you have taken his wife to be your wife, and have killed him with the sword of the people of Ammon. Now therefore, the sword shall never depart from your house, because you have despised Me, and have taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be your wife.’ Thus says the Lord: ‘Behold, I will raise up adversity against you from your own house; and I will take your wives before your eyes and give them to your neighbor, and he shall lie with your wives in the sight of this sun. For you did it secretly, but I will do this thing before all Israel, before the sun.’ ”
So David said to Nathan, “I have sinned against the Lord.”

Do you see how they have taken this verse out of context and applied it to their cause?

And if that had been too little, I also would have given you much more!

Yehovah was not speaking about the wives but was speaking about all He had done for David and how He would have given him much much more had he of obeyed. And yes Bathsheba was a Hittite and not an Israelite. Today you would have called her a German and not a Jew.

Who can forget the explicit admonition of Moses in Deuteronomy 17:17: Do not multiply wives or your heart will be led astray! If this applied to the great kings of Israel, how much more the subjects of the kingdom.

The New Ammo I have recently come to understand comes from my friend Nehemiah Gordon in one of their podcasts.

You can listen to it here at this link and start to listen at the 49-minute mark.

They are talking about the curtain that hung on the Tabernacle and how they are joined together.

Exodus 26:3 Five curtains shall be coupled to one another, and the other five curtains shall be coupled to one another.

Exodus 36:10 And he coupled five curtains to one another, and the other five curtains he coupled to one another.

This word coupled is the Hebrew word Chabar. Strongs 2266 and it means to join (literally or figuratively); specifically (by means of spells) to fascinate-charm (-er), be compact, couple (together), have fellowship with, heap up, join self, together, league.

These five curtains are coupled together.

The Hebrew says Chabar Ish shah aw koth

H802   ‘ishsha^h  na^shi^ym

ish-shaw’,naw-sheem’

The first form is the feminine of H376 or H582; the second form is an irregular plural; a woman (used in the same wide sense as H582).: – [adulter]ess, each, every, female, X many, + none, one, + together, wife, woman. Often unexpressed in English.

H269 ‘a^cho^th

aw-khoth’

Irregular feminine of H251; a sister (used very widely (like H250), literally and figuratively): – (an-) other, sister, together.

This verse is saying a ‘woman joined unto her sister.’ The curtains in Hebrew is feminine and they are joined as unto her sister. Now go to Lev 18 and read it.

Lev 18:18 Nor shall you take a woman as a rival to her sister, to uncover her nakedness while the other is alive.

What does this mean?

Abraham married his half-sister. Jacob married the sister Leah and Rachel.

Concerning the curtains about taking a woman unto her sister is a Hebrew idiom and means one onto another one, so it does not mean literally a woman unto her sister, but it means one woman onto another woman. Or two women.

Lev 18:18  NeitherH3808 shalt thou takeH3947 a wifeH802 toH413 her sister,H269 to vexH6887 her, to uncoverH1540 her nakedness,H6172 besideH5921 the other in her lifeH2416 time.

The next word here is vex

H6887 tsa^rar

tsaw-rar’

A primitive root; to cramp, literally or figuratively, transitively or intransitively: – adversary, (be in) afflict (-ion), besiege, bind (up), (be in, bring) distress, enemy, narrower, oppress, pangs, shut up, be in a strait (trouble), vex.

You are not to take another woman to tsaw rar her. That is to trouble the first woman or to vex her.

So when the first woman is dead then you can take another woman for a wife. It could be her literal sister or just another woman in general.

The Hebrew word for sister wife is tsawrar or one that is a vexer or troubler. Hagar was a sister wife to Sarah.

In the beginning, Yehovah made Eve from man and they became one flesh. It was not Adam and Steve, nor was it Adam and Eve and Mary and Sue.

It was one man and one woman. Any other women in that relationship would have been a vexer (tsawrar) or troubler to the marriage. The Hebrew word for a second wife is tsawrar and should warn you this is not going to be good.

So Lev 18:18 could literally be written as ‘You shall not take a sister wife to vex her or trouble her and uncover her nakedness during her lifetime.’

You are not to have multiple wives.

One more scripture to look at.

In Lev 26:25 we read about the ten women baking in one oven. Some use this to justify polygamous marriages.

And I will bring a sword against you that will execute the vengeance of the covenant;
when you are gathered together within your cities I will send pestilence among you;
and you shall be delivered into the hand of the enemy.
When I have cut off your supply of bread, ten women shall bake your bread in one oven, and they shall bring back your bread by weight, and you shall eat and not be satisfied.

During this time of the end of this age directly in front of us, men will be killed off just as you watched ISIS take all the men and slaughter them and then take the women and rape them.

Ten women will join themselves to one man for protection and to hide their shame from being raped. But this verse in Lev 26:26 could also be read as the Ten Tribes will be consumed in the heat of battle.

The point is, it does not endorse nor support polygamy.

If you are going to say polygamy is sin, then you must also say that Abraham was sinning with Hagar and Sara. You will also have to say Jacob was sinning with Rachell Leah, Bilhah and Zilpah. But Yehovah never once said this was wrong.

The Father of Samuel the Prophet had two wives and it was not condemned.

1Sa 1:1  And there was a certain man of Ramathaim-zophim from the hills of Ephraim, and his name was Elkanah, the son of Jeroham, the son of Elihu, the son of Tohu, the son of Zuph, an Ephrathite.

1Sa 1:2  And he had two wives, the name of the one was Hannah, and the name of the second, Peninnah. And Peninnah had children, but Hannah had no children.

1Sa 1:3  And this man went up out of his city from year to year, to worship and to sacrifice to Jehovah of Hosts in Shiloh. And the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, the priests of Jehovah, were there.

1Sa 1:4  And the time came that Elkanah offered, he gave portions to Peninnah his wife, and to all her sons and her daughters.

1Sa 1:5  But to Hannah he gave one double portion, for he loved Hannah. But Jehovah had shut up her womb.

King Saul had two wives, King David had 8 wives, and King Solomon had seven hundred wives of royal birth and three hundred concubines. Many of the Kings of Israel had more than one wife. And as you have just read in Lev 26 in the last days one man will have ten women cooking for him.

Does Yehovah condemn multiple marriages? Never mind your western 20th-century views. What does the Torah say? What did you just read.  I am not expressing my views and my wants here. Again this subject was thrown on my front porch and we are now going to address it completely. You may not like that Yehovah does not condemn having many wives. You may not like the fact that Yehovah says for a man to take and marry the women that he has raped.

But there is more to this story.

The man did take a dowry price to the mother of the 19-year-old young woman. The Mother accepted that price and gave her daughter to this man. He did as the Torah said and paid the dowry price. Oh yes, did we mention that the Mother was Muslim and according to the Islamic law she is allowed to have and ok with multiple marriages?

The man’s daughter then made a video and called it My Best Friend is now my Mommy. And that video went viral and was picked up on what is the Philippines National Enquire which exploits other people’s disasters for their own entertainment and the gossip of all those who read those papers.

You have people trying to obey the Torah, coming into Torah, and at the same time, they are also working under Christian laws and Islamic Laws and Philippine laws. And you want to be a judge over all of this?

Judging Others
Mat 7:1  Judge not, that you may not be judged.

Mat 7:2  For with whatever judgment you judge, you shall be judged; and with whatever measure you measure out, it shall be measured to you again.

Mat 7:3  And why do you look on the splinter that is in your brother’s eye, but do not consider the beam that is in your own eye?

Mat 7:4  Or how will you say to your brother, Let me pull the splinter out of your eye; and, behold, a beam is in your own eye?

Mat 7:5  Hypocrite! First cast the beam out of your own eye, and then you shall see clearly to cast the splinter out of your brother’s eye.

Mat 7:6  Do not give that which is holy to the dogs; nor cast your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet and turn again and tear you.

Remember that you were forgiven for your adulteries and your abortions. You were forgiven for all of your sins. And yet you want to go out and pound this guy for the mess he is in. Be very careful. Yehovah may have set this up for this man, but also so that He can test you and me.

Brother Aike and the leaders of MLTC are not for multiple marriages. Joseph Dumond and sightedmoon.com are not for multiple marriages. I can’t even handle the one wife I have had. But the tongues need to be silent. The gossip needs to end. The mercy this man needs and this girl needs, needs to be extended to them the same as Yehovah extended His mercy to you.

If you’re going to condemn a man and a young woman, then you had better do so with the Torah and not with a mob mentality. It was the mob mentality that got Yeshua killed.

If you do not want to support this ministry or MLTC for standing up for the Torah then we thank you for walking with us in the past and ask for a blessing on your future travels. But if you can get past your 20th century western Christian thinking then we welcome you to continue our walk together.

Let me make this perfectly clear. It is not Yehovah’s laws that is the bag of dog turd. Not at all. But when people try to drive a wedge between me and the work we are doing with Brother Aike in the Philippines and demand that I judge a situation that is not my business, then that is the bag of turd I get upset with.

Pro 26:17  He who passes by enraging himself over strife not his own is like one who takes a dog by the ears,

Pro 26:18  or like a madman who throws firebrands, arrows, and death.

Pro 26:19  so is the man who deceives his neighbor and says, Am I not joking?

Pro 26:20  Where there is no wood, the fire goes out; and where there is no talebearer, the fighting ceases.

Stop talking about other people and their messed up lives. Show some empathy for the mess they find themselves in just as Yehovah showed empathy for your pathetic life and mine when he called us to repentance.
