Beit Midrash not enemies

Joseph F. Dumond

Isa 6:9-12 And He said, Go, and tell this people, You hear indeed, but do not understand; and seeing you see, but do not know. Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their hearts, and turn back, and be healed. Then I said, Lord, how long? And He answered, Until the cities are wasted without inhabitant, and the houses without man, and the land laid waste, a desolation, and until Jehovah has moved men far away, and the desolation in the midst of the land is great.

Sighted Moon News Letter 5843-033

1st day of the eighth month 5843 after creation

October 13, 2007

Shabbat Shalom Brethren,

For Zion’s sake I will not keep silent, for Jerusalem’s sake I will not remain quiet, till her righteousness shines out like the dawn, her salvation like a blazing torch.”
Having just returned from Jerusalem and seeing that her righteousness does not yet shine and her salvation is not yet like a blazing torch, I find that I must continue to speak out, for Jerusalems sake.
We continue to send out these News Letters and more and more names are added. If yours has been added I hope you will take a look and see if theses articles are helpful to you. But if you like what I say and how I say it please share it with your friends and family.

1] I would like to welcome everyone back from the Feast. And may it have been a blessing for you to grow from as much as I have from mine.

We are now having rain here in Southern Ontario all this week. Some have prayed for it and Yahweh has promised to sent it if we will only go up to keep the Feasts. Well having had no rain all summer we now have some. I will be able to cut the grass for the fifth time this year, this Sunday.

2] Before I left for the Feast I had received a number of e-mails and in some of the conversations with friends, I was given an impression that some may think, or are thinking I am against those who do not agree with those things I am teaching on this site.

In one case it has become so bad that I had to write a personal letter to one group leader explaining that these rumors and the gossip that some are spreading are in no way true. I do not despise those who have different opinions than I do.

As of today, this is a new Moon day. It is the first of the Eighth month according to my understanding of scriptures. But others believe it to be the 1st of the seventh month, and there by the Day of Trumpets for them. They will keep the Day of Atonement 10 days from now, and the Feast of Tabernacles 15 days form now. Others are doing the same only using the conjunction moon of two days ago.

Do I hate them or those who are keeping this year starting at Trumpets as the Land rest year. Should we despise those who are trying to keep Yahwehs torah. Most assuredly I say to you all,… no we should not. Absolutely not. Not at all!!!!!!

The calendar has many different parts to it and it all takes time for each person to come to a conclusion. Some are faster than others. This does not make anyone person superior to any one else. In fact it puts a burden on all those who do know, to share what they have learned with others. To be able to talk openly with one another sharing our understanding of these things.

Our enemy is Satan not each other.

Those who have decided to keep the Feast according the Sighted Moon and have just returned from that Feast have made a decision. Those who have decided to keep the Feast one month later at the end of this month have also made a decision and have stepped out in faith having done so. Those who are keeping the land rest year starting at Trumpets this year have made a decision.

There are many, many others who have not even looked or considered these things and have just sat in their pews and buried their heads and done nothing. It is easier to do nothing than to stand up and do something about what you believe. Never mind which is right or wrong. These people have at least taken a stand. They have stood up for Yahweh.

I have spoken out on this site as to what I believe to be the Biblically correct method for keeping the Holy Days. Others do the same for keeping the conjunction and or the equinox.

How do you know I am not deceiving you? Do you just believe me because I put forward a good argument?

How do you know these other leaders are not deceiving you?

How do you know?

The onus is upon each and every one of you to prove all things according to scriptures. Do not be persuaded by personalities. And do not just swallow every doctrine. But Prove them right or prove them wrong.

This contention that has been brewing was weighing on my mind for most of the Feast and when I got home I received a study from a brother who expressed my thoughts beautifully.

It is something I was just exposed to in 2005 in New England. It is called a Midrash. This is where every one and any one is allowed to express their thoughts on a scripture or topic and not be called stupid or put out for having a different thought. Others can then pull out bibles and reference books to check and see if what they said may be true or not. It is a part of the Shabbat that has been sorrowfully missing in many group.

We all need to learn how to debate scriptures with out the fear of being kicked out of a group. We all need to learn how to think on our feet when discussing scriptures. Read the article.

3] Having now said what I have said above, let me now take this opportunity to state the following.
In Latin the seventh month of the year used to be called September, it was followed by the eighth month called October, and the ninth month which again in Latin was called November, and then the tenth month was called December. Decca being 10
From http://www.pantheon.org/miscellaneous/origin_months.html

Origin of the names of the months
Only a few names of the month were derived from Roman deities. Most simply came from the numbers of the months or — in two cases — in honor of Roman emperors.

January – Named after the Roman god of beginnings and endings Janus (the month Januarius).
February – The name comes either from the old-Italian god Februus or else from februa, signifying the festivals of purification celebrated in Rome during this month.
March – This is the first month of the Roman year. It is named after the Roman god of war, Mars.
April – Called Aprilis, from aperire, “to open”. Possible because it is the month in which the buds begin to open.
May – The third month of the Roman calendar. The name probably comes from Maiesta, the Roman goddess of honor and reverence.
June – The fourth month was named in honor of Juno. However, the name might also come from iuniores (young men; juniors) as opposed to maiores (grown men; majors) for May, the two months being dedicated to young and old men.
July – It was the month in which Julius Caesar was born, and named Julius in his honor in 44 BCE, the year of his assassination. Also called Quintilis (fifth month).
August – Originally this month was called Sextilis (from sextus, “six”), but the name was later changed in honor of the first of the Roman emperors, Augustus (because several fortunate events of his life occurred during this month).
September – The name comes from septem, “seven”.
October – The name comes from octo, “eight”
November – The name comes from novem, “nine”.
December – The name comes from decem, “ten”.

Notice that the Months are still in the same order as they were from the beginning. The first of the year used to be March. This is the same as Yahwehs calendar. The first of the biblical year is around March. The months of the year are roughly in the same order.

We have just celebrated the Feast days of the seventh month as scriptures tell us to. The biblical seventh month seems to match up with the Latin seventh month. Or should I say that the Latin months match up with the original Biblical months as Yahweh has always kept them.

Those Keeping the Feast this coming month, think on this. May Yahweh show you and me His truth and only His truth as we both seek His truth, and not our own.
I do not condemn you for studying and coming to a conclusion. I applaud you. I wish every one did as much. But neither condemn me for studying and coming to a conclusion which differs from yours.
But rather lets midrash and with scriptures lets study it out as brothers and not as foes. If you have questions on the calendar please ask for clarification. If you want to Midrash we have a yahoo site in the contact area. Join up and start the debate.
